Israeli Professor Criticizes "Zionist Colonial Project"--Israel a "Rogue State"
blueridge
by blueridge  Yesterday 6:17 PM    1
The war is part of an aim to establish "Greater Israel". Consider the author before closing your ears. He unmasks the real scheme behind the previous Israeli "withdrawal" from Gaza, up to the context of the present war, and rehearses the controversy of the creation of the state of Israel itself in a manner the media never does. This is largely the Palestinian view from a Jewish and Israeli writer, which the media never acknowledges, and therefore is blameless of the typical charges of "bigotry" or "anti-semitism" leveled at all such critics. His conclusion: ... it has become a rogue state with "an utterly unscrupulous set of leaders". A rogue state habitually violates international law, possesses weapons of mass destruction and practises terrorism. UN suspends Gaza aid operations

700 already killed, humanitarian workers are dead and United Nation mission unable to provide help for wounded and children. It is anything but self-defense. It is not only atrocities and apartheid, it is full scale massacre. Razing civil population for hooligan actions unruled fanatics with winged homemade pipe bombs is war crime against humanity. Shame on world leaders for their silent and even voiced support of war criminals. Nationality or religion of perpetrators play no role in measuring their deeds; they will stay in history of humankind as terrible blood stain.

Israel Denying Access to Gaza Injured
DanaGarrett
by DanaGarrett  Yesterday 2:35 PM
I'd love to see what sophistry Israeli supporters will give justifying access by humanitarian groups to the injured in the Gaza Strip. In my view, there can be no justification. Now the UN is closing down its operations Gaza because its sites for humanitarian efforts are coming under attack like the 2 UN schools that suffered airstrikes. Israel makes a big deal about how they warn residents to take refuge. But it's a meaningless warning if residents take refuge in places that the Israelis have no compunction about attacking.

Robert Fisk: Keeping out the cameras and reporters simply doesn't work
brightlight4
by brightlight4  Yesterday 5:24 PM    5
Now the Israeli army is trying the same doomed tactic again. Ban the press. Keep the cameras out. By yesterday morning, only hours after the Israeli army went clanking into Gaza to kill more Hamas members – and, of course, more civilians – Hamas was reporting the capture of two Israeli soldiers. Reporters on the ground could have sorted out the truth or the lie about that. But without a single Western journalist in Gaza, the Israelis were left to tell the world that they didn't know if the story was true. On the other hand, the Israelis are so ruthless that the reasons for the ban on journalism may be quite easily explained: that so many Israeli soldiers are going to kill so many innocents – more than three score by last night, and that's only the ones we know about – that images of the slaughter would be too much to tolerate. Not that the Palestinians have done much to help. The kidnapping by a Palestinian mafia family of the BBC's man in Gaza – finally released by Hamas, although

*Evidence is in on Pearl Harbour style sneak attack on Gaza
ratcatcher2
by ratcatcher2  Yesterday 10:52 AM    1
Livni is obviously now to be kept out of the loop and not informed until the last minute as to the deceptions and lies of the sneak Pearl Harbour style, truce breaking, sneak attack on the police compound during a passing out parade when the families became targets too. Obviously she is not one of the boys and the token female at cabinet cannot play at war. Or was it that Barak still saw her as his threat to the Prime Ministership? Is this not what the attack on Gaza was all about? The happen-chance of the Gaza police parade, the Zionist election and Bush's departure were too good an opportunity to be missed by the USS Liberty killers!

"It was not Hamas that broke the truce" Nov 21 2008
ratcatcher2
by ratcatcher2  1-6-2009    2
Why did Israeli politicians feel the need to end the peace despite the benefits reaped? Though they blamed Hamas for starting the violence, not a single rocket had been fired by Hamas from the inception of the hudna to the raid on Gaza. The Israeli military escalation has been accompanied by a further tightening of the siege of Gaza in what can only be seen as another attempt to press the population to turn on Hamas. The Israelis seem to cling to a vain hope that the people of the besieged Strip might blame their elected leaders. Clearly, there is no sign of this happening. The reality, however, is that the sanctions have only bolstered the popularity of the movement among Palestinians and support for the cause around the world. ... Guardian

Private Firm Sends "John Doe" Letters to Families of Army Dead

At first I wondered how the Army could have committed such a blunder. But when I read that the Army contracted this job out to a private firm, I knew instantly how this happened. The private firm didn't need to be careful. They got their money. The Army should have sent these letters out themselves.

True Evil Exposed: The Gaza School Incidents
merrie
by merrie  1-7-2009    5
An AP report notes that Hamas fired on Israeli forces from the school and the Israeli return fire set off secondary explosions - meaning that Hamas used the school as a weapons depot: An Israeli official says Palestinian militants fired on Israeli soldiers from the courtyard of a U.N. school where dozens of people died in fiery explosions. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he said the army is still drafting the country's official response to the incident. The Israeli official said "hostile fire" was directed at the soldiers from within the school. He said soldiers returned fire and multiple explosions went off, presumably emanating from munitions stored there.

Israel claims Hamas fired from school....
jatfla
by jatfla  1-6-2009    4
Hamas KNOWS what it is doing. It's back is against the wall; what better tactic or what options are left for them? They are getting no support from their Arab neighbors; they are terrorists and kill their fellow Muslims. Only small groups of rent-a-riots pop up around the world designed to convince the world that their cause is just. It is not. There could have been peace with Israel years ago and none of these innocent people...both Palestinian and Israeli would have died.

Robert Fisk on the Israeli attacks on gaza

Excellent article, of which the following snip is just one part of his commentary. Robert Fisk is one of my favourite commentator son the Middle East. Well worth reading if you are following this news topic. Another bit I liked: Is Hamas going to say: "Wow, this blitz is awesome – we'd better recognise the state of Israel, fall in line with the Palestinian Authority, lay down our weapons and pray we are taken prisoner and locked up indefinitely and support a new American 'peace process' in the Middle East!" ...

Protests, Anger Over Israeli Assault Spread
sahara
by sahara  1-4-2009
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's office released a statement condemning the Israeli ground offensive, and foreign minister Ahmed Abul Gheit said some of the blame belongs at the feet of the U.N. Security Council, which failed to approve a statement overnight calling for an immediate cease-fire. Abul Gheit said the Security Council's silence "was interpreted by Israel as a green light." U.N. delegates said it was the United States that had blocked the statement from being approved. "We need an immediate cease-fire. The blame game can continue later afterwards, but this dangerous moment I think requires us to act," said British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. Israeli and U.S. officials, however, insist that any cease-fire must be "durable." And military analysts say that suggests that Israel intends to weaken Hamas further before seriously pursuing a cessation of hostilities.

'Our only language with the Jew is through the gun'
merrie
by merrie  1-3-2009    2
Hamas leaders have largely disappeared since Israel launched its operations but Rayan was known for openly defying the country. The army said he had a tunnel under his house that could serve as an escape route. He was one of the organisers behind the Battle of Gaza in 2007, in which 400 Palestinian Fatah party members were killed and dozens more tortured and maimed. A Hamas spokesman alleged that the Palestinian National Authority may have asked Israel to kill him because of his role in the clashes. He added that the chief was one of the main reasons why many of Mahmoud Abbas's men 'did not sleep well at night'. Rayan was fundamentally against the state of Israel and had declared: 'There is nothing called Israel, neither in reality nor in the imagination.' Israeli defence officials confirmed a one-ton bomb was used to attack Rayan's home, and that weapons stored inside set off secondary explosions.

Why is the U.S. Military Preparing for Civil Disorder?
spirithiker
by spirithiker  12-25-2008    9
They are anticipating riots in the streets over the economy. But it could be because or freedoms are beginning to be restricted. Now there is news that Homeland Security plans to start monitoring blogs and message boards all over the United States for any signs of suspicious activity. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2008-12-23-terrorblogs_N.htm?csp=34 Does that include criticizing the government? We have a long history of voicing our opinion against our government officials, and we are not going to give that up that right without a fight. The prospect of military roaming our streets as they do in our airports is distasteful and it will trigger even more protest. Civil disobedience may have been instrumental in formally creating America but it is the people who use civil disobedience as a cover to loot stores and homes that worry me just as much as my fellow Americans pointing their military issue weapons at me for protesting what they are doing.
