The Life of the Mind
Fast T friend
by Fast T friend  1-4-2009
As scientists break open the black box of the mind, and begin to unravel the neural processes that define our behavior, it’s becoming clear that who we are—and what we decide to do—is ultimately shaped by the quirks and constraints of these three pounds of flesh inside the head.

Wi-Fi: Children at risk from 'electronic smog'
uberkiwi
by uberkiwi  4-21-2007    4
I has this debate with the rest of the IT team at my company last year (I am an IT consultant). Companies see the cost savings of not using physical wired network - no wire cost, and no eletrician cost to put in the cabling - and really don't want to know anything about the health effects of RF radiation. Humans are electrical beings because cells are electrical, and the nervous system is too. It seems obvious that EMR would have potentially negative effects on humans, and jumping on to Wi-Fi without examining any ill-effects is stupid IMO. There is massive money backing the Mobile and Wi-Fi industry, because it is a huge money earner, so I wouldn't expect anything to be done any time soon.

U.S. blocks U.N. Security Council action on Gaza
citizenbfk

There is this new phrase: "permanent, sustainable cease-fire," In other articles Israel and the USA talk about wanting a "permanent, sustainable cease-fire," This is quite an impressive leap in the propaganda of twisted words and routine lies that truly rises to the Orwellian standards of saying "War Equals Peace," etc. or the routine calling of an invasion as the spreading of democracy and calling soldiers 'peacekeepers." Because it seems calling for a "permanent, sustainable cease-fire," actually means that you are not in favor of a cease fire. It means you want a little more war. "permanent, sustainable cease-fire," means you want to continue fighting; This Global War on Terror and Battle Against Muslim Jihidist and Islamofascism sure is changing and challenging even our very dictionaries. It's like beating up your wife and saying you were having an 'realignment,' in the relationship. And eventually you would come to a permanent, sustainable marriage. Until

Obama Inauguration to Include Terrorism Propaganda
blueridge
by blueridge  12-18-2008    1
The visual props supporting a "threat of terrorism" will dominate the inaugural scene, and is very deliberate in its real purpose which is to frame the context of Obama's presidency in the public mind . It is pure propaganda designed to gain the public's submission and the American people, as under George W. Bush after 9/11, are being manipulated. head of the US Northern Command--"(It's) not because we see a specific threat This hyper-paranoid prep is really propaganda for setting the stage in the public mind that "we are under constant threat of terrorist attack" which is to CONTINUE (not change) the same foreign policy war and Homeland Security domestic agendas. The Constitution, which he will be swearing to uphold, will be drown out by this, and shouted down, as the continued plea of Emergency Powers is invoked to nullify its articles and leave the government unrestrained and headed by another Unitary Executive with his rubber stamp Congress.

Googlewashing
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  12-15-2008    3
Google - the Monster that threatens to Eat The Media - now defines the purpose of the media. Today, Google's cute little explanation of being "uniquely democratic" is no longer present on that page. A subtly different explanation has taken its place - one which acknowledges that in the new democracy of Web 2.0, some votes are more equal than others. Make no mistake, Google is moving into new territory: not only making arbitrary, editorial choices - really no different to Fox News, say, or any other media organization. None of this would matter, if it wasn't for one other trend: a paralysing loss of confidence in media companies. the New Emergent World Order Manufacturing Consent Zeitgeist -The Movie Zeitgeist - Addendum

That’s because little things can make a big difference." ..." I’m passionate about embracing each moment and living with awareness, joy, and kindness. Ongoing personal growth is the most important thing in life. Because we are born with a huge reservoir of potential. It’s only through personal growth that we can access and develop our full potential."
