Christian Reconstructionists Are Trying to Take Dominion in America
Johanna_G
by Johanna_G  7-2-2007    4
Er - not me, but the above quoted source says: The gathering, dubbed "Preparing This Generation to Capture the Future," was hosted by American Vision, a ministry that has been toiling away since 1978 to "help Christians build a truly Biblical worldview." In a conference handout, American Vision states that "By God's grace, we will work together to make America a truly Christian nation for our children's children." Based in Powder Springs, Ga., American Vision also produces reams of material that push Christian Reconstructionism, a form of fundamentalism that argues for a re-writing of American history, dismantling secular democracy and constructing an America governed by "biblical law." Reconstructionists seek to impose the criminal code of the Old Testament, applying the death penalty for homosexuals, adulterers, fornicators, witches, incorrigible juvenile delinquents and those who spread false religions.

L.A. Times Cuts Out McCain’s Remarks About Economy
merrie
by merrie  10-7-2008    1
Then Quotes Barack Obama Saying McCain is Scared to Talk About the Economy "Our current economic crisis is a good case in point. What was his actual record in the years before the great economic crisis of our lifetimes?" At which point McCain launched into the amazing speech quoted by Ed Morrissey at Hot Air, during which he laid out the case, at great length, for the Democrats’ responsibility for the mortgage crisis. Does the L.A. Times report one word of that? No. Instead, they cut the quote of McCain’s speech short there, right before he talks about the economy, and proceed to quote Obama as claiming that McCain is scared to talk about the economy: Speaking with reporters in Asheville, N.C., where he is studying for Tuesday’s debate, which is to focus on the economy and domestic issues, Obama pointed to recent reports that the McCain camp wanted to get away from economic issues, a topic that polls show benefits the Democrats.

Some punk driving in or through Woodfin, NC hit a bear-cub, sadening its mother to the point that she tried several times to get to her cub; and then the local police stopped highway traffic so she could get to the cub. This is by far the saddest story I have read in a while. :(

This is going to hurt
cpltaiji
by cpltaiji  11-4-2007    15
It IS possible to execute a human being painlessly and without unnecessary trauma. Sodium pentobarbital, the same drug commonly used to euthanize animals, will humanely bring down a 1000 pound horse in seconds when correctly administered by qualified personnel. The horse merely goes to sleep and death follows rapidly. The horse is totally unaware of the transition from sleep to death. The point here is that the same procedure, using the same drugs can be used on human animals. The key is that the procedure MUST be done by individuals trained in the proper use of the drugs and equipment necessary to accomplish the task. One solution might be to have an 'official' executioner. A person specifically trained to perform this service. Such an individual would have a genuine interest in doing his/her job at the highest level of competence. Such a position would relieve the staff eg. wardens, guards etc. of the responsibility of performing a medical procedure without proper training.

Obama spent most of his time on health care, which hit home with voters like Becky Pitts, who works at Mission Hospitals. “I’ve been a nurse for 40 years and have struggled with the way we mistreat people because we don’t provide them what we need,” said Pitts, of Asheville. “I think his plan is wonderful, especially compared to McCain’s.”

Obama ad links McCain to Keating scandal as presidential campaigns step up personal attacks
Advocacy4change

A short time later, speaking to thousands of people in Asheville, N.C., Obama said McCain and his aides "are gambling that he can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance. They'd rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up. It's what you do when you're out of touch, out of ideas, and running out of time."
