I feel I must say this: It's not 'facebook' that has got someone in trouble! it is the action of someone posting on their site that caused the problem! We are all accountable for our actions!!

Granddaughter has Brain Surgery
Imnclady
by Imnclady  7-31-2008    7
July 17, 2008...my granddaughter had brain surgery to rid her of seizures that she has been having for the last 4 years...they got so bad she wasn't able to go to school. Her medication could not keep them under control. It all started out as what everyone though was a cold or the flu...she contracted viral encephalitis , they don't know how or why. All I could think of to do at the time was ask everyone to pray for her and that's how the story ended up on MySpace... Except for one seizure last Tuesday, she seems to be doing well... :)

Canadian Put on 6-Month Waiting List for Emergency Surgery
Smoke TNT
by Smoke TNT  7-8-2008    1
As part of its campaign, the Center for Medicine in the Public Interest has created BigGovHealth.org, a website full of stories from people who have faced health care problems in Europe and Canada. The nonprofit advocates a free-market approach to health care, and its biggest contributors in 2006 were drug maker Pfizer and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, according to tax filings. Peter Pitts, the center’s president, said that the campaign was meant to counterbalance what he called the mainstream media’s one-sided reporting on the benefits of government-run systems. The media have yet to show him, he said, “one single example of how the system does not work, not one.”

How having a stroke led neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor to nirvana
papananook
by papananook  6-30-2008
This fascinating account goes on: Now, after brain surgery and almost a decade of recovery in which she had to relearn how to use the part of her brain that was disabled by the stroke, Taylor says her stroke-induced experience of living primarily in right brain mode — freed of the incessant "chatter" of her left brain as it attempts to organize, categorize and make sense of all it was experiencing — has transformed her into a more creative, compassionate person who feels a strong connection with all life. That sense of oneness came when the left brain's ability to declare "I am" was squelched by the stroke and Taylor lost all sense of herself as an individual. She recalled, in a speech given this past winter at the TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) conference, being unable to tell where the atoms and molecules that comprised her arm stopped and the atoms and molecules that comprised the rest of the world began. Such experiences are a primary goal of some spiritual traditio

A Tale of Two Johns
cptenaud
by cptenaud  6-29-2008
We? Out of the 92-6 vote, two senators were not present. One of them was Ted Kennedy, who is home recovering from brain surgery. The other was John McCain. Even John Cornyn was faux-brave enough to vote "yea" after his defiance was stomped out of Congress like a flaming bag of dog shit. Time and time again, John McCain has been a detriment to troops and veterans, not only for his disastrous plans for Iraq but for the curtailing of benefits soldiers receive when they come home. His loyalty no longer resides with fellow veterans but to slick D.C. politics. I know you're not reading this, Senator McCain, but we'll be watching for more of the same.
