POPSElectric Vehicle Companies Want The Government To Buy Their Vehicles Because Nobody Else Will If they meet a given individuals’ needs for transportation then that’s great. But right now we’re bordering on a situation where the government not only subsidized (with our tax dollars) a supply of vehicles nobody wants into existence but also may buy back (again, with our tax dollars) that supply of vehicles nobody wants. You know. The supply the government created in the first place. Americans don’t want electric cars because electric cars aren’t great for cold, snowy climates. And whatever their industry representatives may say, Americans know all about cell phones, iPods, laptops and other devices that run out of power at inconvenient times. And 100 miles really isn’t that far. Gas-powered vehicles are a known quantity. They’re dependable. And for the time being, using them is relatively cheap.

POPSShhh! A secret we can now share with you all! So this put us at a great competitive advantage over Democrat Martha Coakley's campaign. Here's why: When you watch cable television networks you'll see commercial blocks. Each time commercials come on they are part NATIONAL and part LOCAL. Local operators are given so many spots to sell to local advertisers, and the rest of the spots are for NATIONAL advertisers. Since the local cable systems were "SOLD OUT" of advertising spots, then the only way to reach voters via cable channels was on NATIONAL programming. But Martha Coakley, Barack Obama and company failed to realize this. So we went up on the air nationally - adding dozens more TV ads to our buy, while the Democrats in Massachusetts were locked out of buying any more ads on those same cable channels. POPSUS Town Utilizes Local Currency Let’s say you spend a dollar with Chatham Wireless. That’s a local Internet service provider. They will use part of that dollar to pay their folks. They live here. Part of it may go to their bookkeeper. Part might go to an advertisement in our local media. They might use their money to get a massage, lunch at Angelina’s Kitchen, or dinner at the General Store Cafe. Part of that dollar might go to buy groceries at Chatham Marketplace which will then buy produce from the local farmer, who will then go buy some Internet access from Chatham Wireless. The longer that dollar stays in our community, the more enriched we become.

POPSThe Sad Illusion Of Happy Customers Best Buy is not being picked on here, it could be them or anyone else. As a regular part of my work I have to trudge through large retail stores all the time and my biggest complaint is the lack of help. If you want us to buy, then have enough informed sales people to help us and get us through the lines quicker! "It's not rocket science. To make customers happy, all you need to do is offer high-quality goods at competitive prices and staff your stores with a sufficient number of well-trained personnel to ensure a smooth shopping experience."

POPSBest Buy Says "Happy Eid" - Christian Conservatives Miffed 'Tis the season for bitching about nothing ... In another publication, Hawks said that, in addition to Eid wishes, “you will see greetings of Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Joyous Kwanzaa and Feliz Navidad in various Best Buy communications during the holiday season.” That might rile conservatives, too. Already, the American Family Association has lashed out at the Gap for giving equal billing to Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and Solstice in a new TV commercial — although that group’s main concern is the inclusion of Solstice. Imad Hamad, the regional Midwest director of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, sees the greeting as a “welcome gesture from Best Buy,” adding that many of the complaints against it illustrate the kind of “anti-Islamic virus we’ve been hearing and dealing with.”

POPSRecord numbers go hungry in the US
The agriculture secretary, Tom Vilsack, said: "These numbers are a wake-up call … for us to get very serious about food security and hunger, about nutrition and food safety in this country." Vilsack said he expected the numbers to worsen when the survey for this year is released in 2010. The report said 6.7 million people were defined as having "very low food security" because they regularly lacked sufficient to eat. Among them, 96% reported that the food they bought did not last until they had money to buy more. Nearly all said they could not afford to eat balanced meals. Although few reported that this was a permanent situation throughout the year, 88% said it had occurred in three or more months. Nearly half reported losing weight because they did not have enough money to buy food. The number of children living in households where there were shortages of food at times rose by nearly one-third to 17 million. The report says that most parents who did not get enough to eat
