POPSWhat happens when people catch fire? Meet a team who have made it their macabre mission to find out. "A human limb burns a little like a tree branch," says John DeHaan, a fire investigator at Fire-Ex Forensics in Vallejo, California, who works with Pope. First, he says, the thin outer layers of skin fry and begin to peel off as the flames dance across their surface. Then, after around 5 minutes, the thicker dermal layer of skin shrinks and begins to split, allowing the underlying yellow fat to leak out. "That's when the fire gets most interesting," says DeHaan. Body fat can make a good fuel source, but it needs material such as clothing or charred wood to act as a wick. Like that in a wax candle, a wick absorbs the fat and pulls it into the flame, where it is vaporized, so enabling it to burn.

POPSHave we become too dependent on Google? Read the complete article at the link... Personally, I think this holds very true. As someone who runs a website which relies heavily on Google AdSense / AdWords and their other services, if one of their Google were to malfunction, it could cause a snowball effect which would be disastrous to my website... Something to think about.

POPSThe way it’s going to be on clipmarks - from God! To be more precise, CMs is your place, you decide who stays, who goes. Only it's very apparent your views are slanted. One only has to read the clippings of the left vs. the right to see you side with the far left. Without having any objectivity, you are not able to judge fairly, but who cares, it's your place right. Clipmarks is great in concept, however with you not being able to remain neutral, it really screws up your judgement there fellow. until my IP is banned.......dl211

POPSGOP Lawmakers Protest Gag Orders on Cuts To Medicare Advantage
Medicare Advantage plans, the private insurance plans offered under Medicare, the government program for the elderly and disabled, are targets for cuts in heath care overhaul legislation because they cost more, per beneficiary, than traditional Medicare. On Friday, CMS said it was examining whether Humana violated Medicare marketing rules or other federal laws, and asked the company to shut down a Web site that helped beneficiaries generate letters to lawmakers opposing the cuts, and to stop sending letters to beneficiaries enlisting their support in the fight. The agency sent a letter on Monday to all plans, warning them not to send letters about the proposed cuts and called the effort misleading to beneficiaries. The action came at the urging of Democratic Sen. Max Baucus of Montana, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee , who has proposed Medicare Advantage cuts that are estimated at $123 billion over 10 years as part of his health overhaul legislation.

POPSMedicare and Gag Orders "Meanwhile, we have the case of the Association for the Advancement of Retired Persons (AARP), and its fanciful Medicare claims. The self-styled seniors lobby is using all its money and influence to cheer on ObamaCare, even though polls show that most retired persons oppose it. AARP has spent millions of dollars on its TV ad campaign and bulletins and newsletters to its members, including eight million direct-mail letters over Labor Day. The AARP Web site claims that it is a "myth" that "health care reform will hurt Medicare," while it is a "fact" that "none of the health care reform proposals being considered by Congress will cut Medicare benefits or increase your out-of-pocket costs."
