POPSMcCain Hopes Amnesia Will Get Him Elected.
The American people would have toforget the last eight years to elect McCain and they would have to fall once again for the politics of divide and conquer, the politics of personal destruction rather than a politics that looks at facts and future plans. McCain has been part of the problem and now he's going to go in a fix it all? What a joke. The Republicans are FEMA. The Republicans are a still devasted New Orleans. The Republicans are stealing billions of dollars from taxpayers and putting profit into the pockets of Wall Street bankers. (maybe even TRILLIONS, with this latest bailout of failed mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac). The Republicans have led us into a war losing 4,000,plus of our own troops and now probably having killed 500,000 Iraqi's or more, cost us more billions (and maybe TRILLIONS) -- and this is for facts we now know are not true...Iraq had no connection to 9/11 and no WMD's But, forget all that. Amnesia. Vote for McCain. He has Alzheimer'

POPSMaking a Video Statement Kowalski is a musician, he uses youtube and MySpace to post videos, hoping someone will listen to its message. One man trying to make a difference on humanity. Human existence and life as we know it is limited by the actions of those in power. Our children need hope and a purpose ...some like Kowalski use their talents to bring awareness on these issues at hand. This is his purpose and the only way we can help is to make it our purpose also.

POPS Former DNC Chair Laughs About Hurricane Gustav What a sad excuse for a human being. At least he is the former DNC chairman. What an effing idiot! Besides, you moron, don't you think the Rovians in McCain campaign are not going to exploit this to a hilt. You want to be among them as an exploiter of victims? Shameless!

POPSB. Obama Walks the Walk This article summarizes one of the main reasons I back Barack Obama. I believe in community service and helping out others in need and apparently so does he. We don't have to wait for him to finish being president to see him interacting with people who make less than $500k per year. To see him doing this stuff before he can score political points shows that this is the real him. Not a put on. The fact that he's called on to do these events shows his general respect level.

POPSTurn Off Foreign Aid? The next administration should also immediately reduce U.S. support for international organizations, such as the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, the United Nations and the World Bank, which have programs that discourage economic growth.

POPSSurviving disasters - be prepared to help yourself & your neighbors I live in California, where we have a 99% chance of having an earthquake measuring 6.7 or higher some time in the next 30 years. The chance of a quake 7.5 or greater in the next 30 years is 46%. As we saw after the Loma Prieta quake, the government and emergency responders will not be able to help everybody, and each of us will need to help ourselves and the people around us.

POPSMarkey (D-Mass) Global Warming Led To ‘Black Hawk Down’ Markey was speaking to 25 students from the World Wildlife Fund's Allianz Southeast Climate Witness Program. The students had come to the Capitol to brief members of Congress on the risks of global warming. The students were from the Gulf States. Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), chairman of the House (Select) Energy Independence and Global Warming Committee, also equated the drive for global warming legislation with the drive for women’s suffrage in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. “Yes, that part of the world is subject to drought at times, but it has very little to do with global warming,” said Ebell. (Myron Ebell, director of Energy and Global Warming Policy at CEI) “It is subject to drought whether the global average temperature is going up, down, or staying the same. To say you know the conflict was caused by global warming is to show how really ignorant you are of the scientific issues involved.”

POPSAmber Light for Israel- Followed by GREEN Drilling for Dollars, war on drugs, war in Afghanistan, war in Iraq, war on crime, war on terrorism, everywhere you look, there is war. What a great Nation we have become in such short time. Given these folks like Bush/Cheney or McCain, there is more to come. Perhaps they don't mind World War III ? Perhaps in its confusion and world wide disasters, America will have the chance to really become No 1, before the Third Reich and those types before.

POPSThe Great Train Wreck of 1918 I have always considered myself a history buff... especially when it comes to the darker side of history: i.e. disasters, wars, atrocities, crimes, etc. I was very surprised when I saw this article posted on refdesk.com, one of my favorite all-in-one reference link sites.. Reading this story gave me a chill in my bones and the article is worth much more than my paltry efforts to clip the highlights. What was NOT clipped: The procedures of the railroad and safety guidelines and how it failed here. The lax attitude of No 4's personnel and their failures to protect the passengers. The tower person and his attempt to avert the disaster but his own part in not following procedure. The Interstate Commerce Commission's findings of fault and blame for the wreck.. I encourage all to look up this story and see what happened 90 years ago today. Thank You.

POPSFailed States Index 2008 The Best And Worst
Bangladesh took this year’s hardest fall, set off in part by postponed elections, a feuding, deadlocked government, and the imposition of emergency rule that has dragged on for more than 18 months. These political setbacks were followed by greater economic hardships after a devastating cyclone in November flooded large swaths of cropland and left 1.5 million people homeless. In nearby Pakistan, also one of this year’s worst performers, a beleaguered President Pervez Musharraf sparked waves of violent protests when he dismissed the head of the Supreme Court and declared martial law. In a tragic close to the year, the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto left many wondering about the future prospects of this fragile, nuclear-armed state. Ironically, Pakistanis constitute the largest national U.N. contingent operating in Liberia. More than 9,000 Bangladeshi troops wear U.N. blue helmets around the world, a third of them in the Ivory Coast.
