Will Zionist Destroy America?
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  3-9-2010    1
Israel is setting the agenda and the USA follows, to its folly.. U.S. VP is in Israel today and talked about "being allies," with Israel and the need to stop Iran from getting nukes. Thus the Zionist agenda is now the American agenda. No talk about stopping the genocide in Gaza. And outrageous ongoing lies about ME "peace talks," (really talks about Arab evictions, not peace) and lies about stopping expansion of Israeli settlements (a prime Palestinian demand). You can read this barefaced lie at the end of this clip, an Israeli spokesperson talking about a 'freeze on construction." But - hideously -- while those words are being said construction is ongoing. Hideously, one day after the Palestinians agree to the next round of phony peace talks (evictions)...one day later more Israeli expansion announced.  These Republicans suck. The Senate sucks. The Congress sucks. The only thing they have done successfully is foreign invasions and bailing out banks. The process seems designed to fail in all other ways; it gets stalled, obstructed, log jammed. It's gonna take a lot of work to pull all the non-functioning parts out and replace them with something that works. One thing for sure, we have to keep voting these war mongers and hate mongers out of office. Vote for Main St., not Wall St.

I won't try to explain the science, where climate change produces bigger storms, with greater precipitation, and that precipitation in February, when it's still cold enough for water to freeze, produces snow. Nor will I point out that we had a week of 60 degree weather in January, one of the warmest in 2,000 years. Not to people who can see this happening and willfully disbelieve something is wrong.

Of course, every economist and statistician I have talked to on air says the stats don’t exist and this statement in most part is a fabrication. The Congressional Budget office said there were only 600,000-1.6 million of potentially created jobs. It said it was impossible to determine how many of those jobs could have existed without the stimulus package. Another lie Obama smoothly threw out was about the White House and Congress doing their work openly as the people deserve. What a bunch of bull rot! Obama promised if you remember that the health care negotiations for health care legislation would be aired openly on C-SPAN, so the folks could see what was going on and how it affected them. WRONG. Instead, most has been done behind closed doors. Obama declared in his speech that he and his staff excluded lobbyists from policy-making jobs or seats on federal boards and commissions. However, once again this was a proven lie. http://bit.ly/UJs5y http://teaparty.org

Moody’s Warns US Of Credit Rating Fears
merrie
by merrie  2-5-2010    1
the federal financial picture as presented in the projections for the next decade will at some point put pressure on the triple A government bond rating,” the rating agency added in an issuer note. This week, the White House forecast a $1,565bn budget deficit for 2010, which represents 10.6 per cent of gross domestic product and is the highest such ratio of debt to GDP since the second world war. While the budget gap is forecast to fall to about 4 per cent by 2013, it is based in part on economic growth not falling below government expectations, Congress agreeing to tax rises and a spending freeze on non-security discretionary spending. Crucially, projections of the overall debt-to-GDP ratio for the US are seen rising from 53 per cent in 2009 to 73 per cent in 2015 and 77 per cent by 2020. Moody’s, however, says this understates the overall US debt level. “Using the general government measure, including state and local governments as well as the federal government ....

The Sanctity of Military Spending is Obscene
papananook
by papananook  1-27-2010
The facts about America's bloated, excessive, always-increasing military spending are now well-known. The U.S. spends almost as much on military spending as the entire rest of the world combined, and spends roughly six times more than the second-largest spender, China. Even as the U.S. sunk under increasingly crippling levels of debt over the last decade, defense spending rose steadily, sometimes precipitously. That explosion occurred even as overall military spending in the rest of the world decreased, thus expanding the already-vast gap between our expenditures and the world's. As one "defense" spending watchdog group put it: "The US military budget was almost 29 times as large as the combined spending of the six 'rogue' states (Cuba, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria) who spent $14.65 billion."

I say............kick them all out, cancel their healthcare, and pensions, and revert back to a volunteer position! Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing, Hoyer explained that Congress had already frozen its pay by rejecting a cost of living increase. His gamble with deepening the deficit to stimulate job growth will have to be macro-managed better then the previous stimulus or these could go very badly, especially in regards to the US influence around the globe. The president is also proposing to cut back or eliminate 120 government programs, including projects by the Army Corps of Engineers and NASA's plan to return astronauts to the moon. It puts a three-year freeze on discretionary spending outside defense. That excludes the fastest growing parts of the budget -- entitlements like Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid as well as national security. The president will outline some steps tomorrow, including freezing non-discretionary spending -- spending that since 1995 has almost doubled in our federal budget," White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said on CNN on Sunday. According to the White House, the freeze would be $250 billion over a decade if those programs were to increase at the rate of inflation. Rasmussen: Americans Not Buying What Obama Was Selling At SOTU
merrie
by merrie  1-30-2010    1
On the spending freeze: Regarding another initiative detailed in the speech on Wednesday night, just nine percent (9%) of voters believe the president’s proposed freeze on discretionary spending will have a big impact on the deficit. (http://bit.ly/9w6CTH) The numbers get worse why party affiliation is taken into account. On all questions, only Democrats believe what Obama was selling and even then by small margins. The majority of Republicans and Independents simply were not buying any of it. The only silver lining for Obama is that Democrats opinion of Obama increased after the State of the Union address. There was no change for Republicans and Independents. The problem for Obama is that he is using very old Chicago style politics in a very new political era. Many voters on the right and in the middle have become much more active. They are now following political news much more closely than before.

Mr. Freeze: Why Obama’s Latest Budget Change Won’t Put His Agenda On Ice

Obama's "Freeze" By Philip Klein President Obama is set to announce a three-year "freeze" in non-security discretionary spending during his State of the Union as part of his efforts to convince independents that he cares about reducing the deficit. I say "freeze" in quotes, because some programs will go up, while some will go down -- thus providing the Obama administration wiggle room to say that Obama isn't reversing his position on an across the board freeze of the kind that he criticized John McCain for during the campaign. "An across-the-board spending freeze is a hatchet and we do need a scalpel because there are some programs that don't work at all," he said (video here). My position is, yes, this is mainly a symbolic gesture -- after all, the White House claims it would save $250 billion -- less than a third of the cost of the economic stimulus bill alone. It's only a temporary, three-year freeze that follows years of unprecedented spending and it comes as ....

Congressman Bob Latta on President Obama's State Of The Union Address
merrie
by merrie  1-28-2010    1
Any "jobs" bills that are brought before Congress should focus on tax cuts and incentives for businesses who hire new employees instead of another "stimulus" package that we now know to be nothing more than a bloated government spending program that has failed miserably, leaving taxpayers with the $862 billion dollar cost. House Republicans continue to offer cost-free legislation that will create jobs and invigorate our economy, as opposed to the Administration’s position of trying to spend our way out of our predicament. As the President laid out his preliminary spending proposals for the next fiscal year, specifically his proposed spending "freeze", it comes as no surprise that his plan does not go nearly far enough to address the serious spending problem we face as a nation. The spending freeze outlined this evening hits only the tip of the iceberg, as it applies to only a small percentage of discretionary spending.

A closer look at this diet reveals that the freeze would apply to a budget that enjoyed a 20 percent increase in 2009, courtesy of the Democrats' largesse. Under the guise of "tacking to the center" in the wake of his trip to the woodshed in the Massachusetts election, the president's proposal would actually lock in a sizable spending increase during those years, as opposed to a real freeze. (No wonder Republicans burst out laughing during the SOTU.)

Enough already about you creating or saving all those GOVERNMENT (taxpayer funded) jobs, Mr. President, let us get back to your proposal to freeze government spending. Let me see if I can explain this in terms the regular folks might understand. Your proposal, Mr. President, is much like the wife who wasn’t satisfied with the 40 dresses and 40 pairs of shoes she bought in 2008, so last year she bought 50 dresses and 50 pairs of shoes. Now her closet is overflowing, the credit cards are beyond maxed out, and the husband is more than a little miffed.

He sought to portray himself as an outsider and a reformer, an antidote to cynicism, and a post-partisan, unifying force. He wanted to cast himself as an idealist, an inspirational figure, Mr. Hope & Change.
