Understanding Lebanese Politics. Christian view.

by righthand  5-17-2008    3
"Lebanon is the Gate of the East because of its Christians, but it is time to realise Shi'ite ascendancy. They have the numerical superiority," said Francois Bassil, owner of Le Chef restaurant. "We better not repeat mistakes of the civil war and ally with foreign powers," he said. "By the time foreign help comes we will be under the knife." US keep out

Catastrophe. - Bush? Iraq? Palestine? Israel?

by righthand  5-16-2008
Well, he's being wrong on everything for 7 years, why should he change now? Why does this simple statement not penetrate the brains of those fanatics that followed his every word only to find they were lying deceitful devil words? Why should those that no longer believe in WMD for their service persons deaths, still cling to his crap about Iran, Hamas, Hizbollah etc. When was he truthful? Is he the devil? Sorry if I've asked difficult questions of the very few who are not used to thinking for themselves. Where can they look now that the emperor has NO clothes al all. POW McCain? A WOMAN? A BLACK? Ask the pastor who said Bush? Mental meltdown! Brain seizure from lack of use!

When will they ever Learn, when will they ever learn, when will they ever learn
righthand
by righthand  5-10-2008    1
Previously, I've offered the Bush gang some undeserved advice. It was simple and even more obvious with time. Whatever instinct they have to do something, then don't. Do the opposite or do nothing. Everything they touch turns to dust. Just a few: Iraq, Afghanistan, Guantanamo, Abu Ghraib, Iran, Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, waterboarding, rendition, POWs, Dollar, Oil, Economy, Hamas, Gaza, West Bank, Katrina, civil rights, prisons, racism, FEAR. Only one state has prospered and at the US expense. It's economy roars ahead based on false security and terrorism. Iraq's government partly rules Baghdad's Green Zone. Now Lebanon's government may in time rule a Beirut Green Zone. Only Israel benefits. Bush ignored the democratically elected Hamas in Gaza. Then the US provoked a Hamas military takeover. Why? So Israel could practice judicial assassination and Hamas wouldn't talk peace? Never. And when Hamas through Carter offered the peace to the Zionists? The lamest excuse ever?

Five Years of Suicide Bombings in Iraq
Rasmus
by Rasmus  3-20-2008
Never before has the Arab world witnessed a phenomenon of suicide-death on this scale. During Israel's occupation of Lebanon after 1982, one Hizbollah suicide-bombing a month was considered remarkable. During the Palestinian intifadas of the 1980s and 1990s, four per month was regarded as unprecedented. But suicide bombers in Iraq have been attacking at the average rate of two every three days since the 2003 Anglo-American invasion.

Christians Mourn Hizbollah Murder
righthand
by righthand  3-16-2008    1
Shehadeh, 45, was open to rival theological thought as he always carried a card with a Koranic verse on one side and a picture of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on the other. Yet it was mostly his crusading against corruption in the PA and Fatah as well as his support for locals that won Christian support. The reason he was popular was because he presented a symbol of those individuals who were engaging in resistance,' Awad said. 'People are seeing that Hizbollah has done what others have failed to do either by military operations or negotiations. If Fatah had been able to achieve real steps through negotiations, people would be following that and be feeling more proud of it and more supportive of it,' ...Guardian

"In a TV interview aired on Lebanon's New TV station, Sunday, 27 August, Nasrallah said that he would not have ordered the capture of two Israeli soldiers if he had known it would lead to such a war: "We do not think, even 1%, that the capture led to a war at this time and of this magnitude. I'm convinced and sure that this war was planed and that the capture of this hostages was just their excuse to start this war, but if I had known on July 11 ... that the operation would lead to such a war, would I do it? I say no, absolutely not. but the war didn't start because of the operation anyway, it's a written war, they would've chosen any excuse to start it anyway"

LeFigaro-pt1: French view of Syria raid

Israel, Hezbollah and Gulf Monarchies Preparing for the Possibility of Strikes in Iran ... Le Figaro "In anticipation of a possible Iranian riposte to US bombings, Israel has also decided to bury its Defense Ministry in Tel-Aviv, where "bunkerization" works proceed apace. Israel, which fears a hijacked airplane crashing against a tower of the Defense Ministry, has learned its lesson from the Iraqi Scuds' launch against Tel-Aviv in 1991. 100 kilometers to the north, Hezbollah is also getting ready. No longer only to the north of the Litani River where a rearmament has been observed since the beginning of the year in South Lebanon" "Lately, truck convoys have been sighted at night, as well as trenches dug amid the palm groves and immediately recovered; suspicious explosions have been heard: so many indications that strangely recall the 2005-2006 preparations, when, in anticipation of a conflict with Israel, Hezbollah dug tunnels, fortified bunkers and secured its radio communicatio

Conflict of interest and the inquiry into the Lebanon war

As if a former Mossad man does not have conflicts of interest... or is a reliable candidate for a committee that is supposed to shed light on recent events, not cover them up. Israel rigged its pathetic "investigation" into the Jenin debacle in 2002 in a very similar way.

Is it only because some of them were jewish?" Your question infers that only some of the American youth killed in Israel were Jewish. That is the only way that I can make any sense of your use of english. Why would all or nearly of them not be Jewish? Why else would they be in a virtual war zone? I feel there must be more intended in your question but I cannot see it. I presume the American Jews were there to serve in the Israeli Defence? Force (IDF)? Back to the double loyalty problem again. U.S. and Lebanon Are at Odds Over Cease-Fire Plan
slothraspet
by slothraspet  8-7-2006    2
Israel doesn't give a rat's ass about an internationally engineered ceasefire agreement, and Hizbollah doesn't give a rat's ass about an internationally engineered ceasefire agreement. So why is it that all we're talking about in the U.S. media (and probably the EU, but I haven't been following it as closely as I should) is the ceasefire agreement? This "agreement" is absolutely useless, when the parties fighting could care less. It just provides us with a way to look like we care, when really we are doing nothing, absolutely nothing to stop the bloodshed. We are doing plenty, however, to further confirm the uselessness of the UN Security Council.

How on earth can a piece of paper drafted by the United States and France be even vaguely connected to an anticipated ceasefire between Hizbollah and Israel? If they want to get Hizbollah to stop firing rockets and Israel to stop striking Beirut and villages in southern Lebanon, then perhaps they are going to have to directly involve the parties of the conflict in the negotiations, namely Hizbollah and Israel. Novel concept, I know.
