POPS Myanmar's fascist junta extends Suu Kyi house arrest Those who showed their incompetence to aid the cyclone victims, proving their determinism to oppress Myanmar people. If this knave, filthy junta still holds the power and dares to extend Suu Kyi's arrest arrogantly, only one thing can be said: Shame on the world.

POPSBurma, Chevron, slave labor, Rice and more The pipeline was built with slave labor, forced into servitude by the Burmese military. The original pipeline partner, Unocal, was sued by EarthRights International for the use of slave labor. As soon as the suit was settled out of court, Chevron bought Unocal. Chevron’s role in propping up the brutal regime in Burma is clear. Rice served on the Chevron board of directors for a decade. She even had a Chevron oil tanker named after her. While she served on the board, Chevron was sued for involvement in the killing of nonviolent protesters in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria. Like the Burmese, Nigerians suffer political repression and pollution where oil and gas are extracted and they live in dire poverty. The protests in Burma were actually triggered by a government-imposed increase in fuel prices.

POPSBush: PIMP, Dictator, Hypocrite - Olbermann Transcript/Video
TRANSCRIPT: Olbermann challenges Bush on his MoveOn critique and more. "First off, it’s “Democrat-ic” party. You keep pretending you’re not a politician, so stop using words your party made up. Show a little respect. Secondly, you could say this seriously after the advertising/mugging of Senator Max Cleland? After the swift-boating of John Kerry? But most importantly, making that the last question? So that there was no chance at a follow-up? So nobody could point out, as Chris Matthews so incisively did, a week ago tonight, that you were the one who inappropriately interjected General Petraeus into the political dialogue of this nation in the first place! Deliberately, premeditatedly, and virtually without precedent, you shanghaied a military man as your personal spokesman and now you’re complaining about the outcome, and then running away from the microphone? Terrorizing your own people in hopes of getting them to vote for your own party has never brought as much as a publi

POPSBushie the Moonie It seems the Bush family just can't seem to help throwing its support and dollars at the so called Rev. Sun Myung Moon. Yes, the daddy of the Moonies is in cahoots with the daddy of the Bushies, and has been for years. For anyone who is not sure why this should be an issue, just do a bit of reading about Moon and his ruinous cult.

POPS'Blood' rubies bankroll Burmese junta If you buy a ruby, chances are you're funding the oppressive military regime in Burma. According to CNN, the U.S. government does not ban the import of rubies which have been cut and processed in countries other than Burma, which apparently all of them are. Therefore, the ban is technically meaningless.

POPSHuman Tragedy Granted, Myanmar has a terrible track record of human abuse. Their government is cuel and dictatorial. Yet for the US to offer a paultry $250,000 is an insult and shows a deep lack of humanity. The people of Myanmar are not the corrupt military dictatorship. Yet, it seems as though we are making them pay to score political points. Something is not right here.

POPS Who's Enabling Burma's Junta? Within minutes, recalls Niang, a 47-year-old gem dealer, riot squads appeared; three truckloads of soldiers began to dismount and, without warning, opened fire. "We saw people fall down and saw blood in the street," Niang told me on the phone from her home. "Everyone was running. It was terrible." The last time Burma saw such widespread protests was in 1988, when pro-democracy student activists took to the street. The government answered in full force, massacring 3,000 and arresting many more.

POPSBurmese Monks: Brave and Peaceful Freedom Fighters We may never know the true number of murdered civilians, or the fate of many monks and others who have been abducted. We do know that, despite arrests, tear gas, the closing of monasteries and flying bullets, the protest continues, at least for now.

POPS5000 people march against junta (Last paragraph) The 62-year-old, known in Burma as "The Lady", came out to greet them from behind her locked gates in a symbolic meeting of two of the most potent anti-government forces in the country.

POPSko-htike still receiving info from besieged Myanmar residents The people who are providing information to this young man's website are putting their lives in danger....I will not be surprised when they start pinging the cell phones and rounding up these people. Most don't even seem to have been involved in peaceful demonstrations, yet just traveling on ordinary daily business through town. Call or email your Congressional delegation. They can make a resolution of condemnation of the Mynamar junta who replaced the civilian government, if they are not afraid of the strong Chinese military relationship with the Burmese military junta.

POPSOfficial: U.N. Lost $10M In Burma for additional funds for Burma. An economic professor at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, Sean Turnell, said yesterday that the figure of $10 million in Burma losses is "not inconsistent" with his own estimate. "But why is the U.N. handing any foreign currency to the Burmese regime anyway?" the economist, who was one of the first to expose the loss, said, adding that such handouts only strengthen the ruling junta. "Presumably the government is benefitting somehow" from the exchange rate, Mr. Holmes said yesterday, though he acknowledged that he could not calculate how much of the $10 million that had already been lost went directly to top generals or their associates. A similar foreign exchange plan led to losses of U.N. funds in North Korea. The Bush administration has spent $47.2 million so far on assistance to Burma, according to government documents.

POPSU.N. Suspends Aid Shipments To Myanmar After Government Confiscates Donations White House: Myanmar OKs One U.S. Aid Delivery Earlier Friday, Ky Luu, director of the U.S. office of foreign disaster assistance, had said that skilled aid workers were being forced to sit on the sidelines as victims of last week's cyclone die. His comments reflect mounting frustration among the United States and other countries as they wait for permission from the military-led government to begin trying to help. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,354722,00.html

POPSHow Not to Run a Government People are dying by the thousands in Burma and all the government can think of is protecting itself from a hostile people demanding change. I am praying for that very uprising to take place and this self-serving junta military government gets sent packing. I am sure these rulers are getting three squares a day and then some.
