Hundreds of new marine species discovered in Australia
balthazarus
by balthazarus  9-19-2008    1
Among their findings were an estimated 130 new species of soft corals, several undescribed shrimp-like species - some with claws larger than their bodies - and dozens of tiny crustaceans. They also collected around 100 small organisms called isopods that are believed to be new to science. Some isopods are parasites and burrow into fishes' mouths and nibble their tongues away. The expeditions, which are part of a four-year effort to build up a detailed picture of marine life around the sites, will feed into a global census that will release its first report in 2010.

"The 9/11 Report is a fraudulent document"
papananook
by papananook  6-26-2008    2
We further believe that elements within the US government were complicit in the murder of thousands of people on 9/11/2001. This event brought Canada into the so-called "War on Terror," it changed our domestic and foreign policies for the worse, and it will continue to have negative consequences for us all if we refuse to look at the facts. THEREFORE, your petitioners call upon Parliament to: (1) Immediately launch its own investigation into the events of 9/11/2001 on behalf of the 24 Canadian citizens murdered in New York City. (2) Act lawfully on the findings of its own investigation by helping to pursue the guilty parties in the international courts. Committed to truth and accountability vancouver911truth.org

Dept. of You Can't Make this $%&! Up! Presents: Karl Rove

I mean really, of all the people to say something like this, Karl Rove? And please spare me the "Armitage said it first!" bull. Just because somebody commits a crime does not open the way for others. Armitage cooperated with investigators, Rove and Libby obstructed justice.

McClellan Says He Can't Tie Cheney to CIA Leak
jatfla

*Everyone* knows that Armitage was the leaker. Libby was convicted (unfairly, in my opinion) of "obstructing justice". The trial was a political stunt aimed at more mud-slinging at the hated Administration to see what might stick.

Project for America by McCain
Yassin_M
by Yassin_M  6-14-2008    1
The Road Map to War The blueprint for this “new order” was drafted in February 1992, at the end of the George H.W. Bush administration when Defense Department staffers Paul Wolfowitz, I. Lewis Libby and Zalmay Khalilzad, acting under then-Secretary of Defense Dick Cheney, drafted the Defense Planning Guidance (DPG). This document, also known as the “Wolfowitz Doctrine,” was an unofficial, internal document that advocated massive increases in defense spending for purposes of strategic proliferation and buildup of the military in order to establish the pre-eminence of the United States as the world’s sole superpower. Advocating pre-emptive attacks with nuclear, chemical or biological weapons, it proclaimed that “the U.S. must show the leadership necessary to establish and protect a new order that holds the promise of convincing potential competitors that they need not aspire to a greater role or pursue a more aggressive posture to protect their legitimate interests.”

Powerful:Democracy Now Interview of McClellan--podcast
blueridge
by blueridge  6-12-2008    1
Must-hear interview. The Bush administration cannot deny the claims from this insider. It is also interesting to hear the questions put to him by some good reporters in the run up to Iraq that the MSM decided not to let us hear! Hard evidence for wrong doing in the administration and he is about to testify before the Judiciary committee on the CIA leak of Plame, by Rove, Libby, and likely orchestrated by Cheney. Also how the White House Iraq Group used the NY Times as their primary propaganda conduit, including Judith Miller. Great podcast (have to listen to other news first before interview).

McClellan to Testify Before House Committe

The piece goes on: The statements prompted House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., to invite McClellan to the hearing "concerning reported attempts to cover up the involvement of White House officials in the leak of" Plame's identity. Bad news for a lot of bloody-handed neocons...

More hard evidence surely for Kucinich's impeachment resolution against Bush, for the President to authorize the leak of a CIA agent (which is McClellans published record in his new book) is considered a high crime, no misdemeanor.

Karl Rove Unraveling: Congress threatens arrest.
citizenbfk

ormer White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” ALSO, RE; ROVE, McClellan asserts that Karl Rove, the president’s senior adviser, “Scooter” Libby and VP Cheney had a meeting on how to handle the Valarie Plame CIA leak case (i.e. a collusion in a Federal case) NOW a Congresswoman on the Judiciary Committee, said on TV yestereday that if Rove doesn't show up for a subpoena --- concerning the Siegelman's case. ---CONGRESS WILL ARREST HIM! Who knew Congress could arrest people!? (like a parliament deciding to arrest someone). Well, it turns out there is actually a one room jail in Congress and they can send out the 'sergeant at arms,' and (without the police or courts), go out and arrest someone. Whew! This just keeps getting -- as Alice in Wonderland cried -- ''Curiouser and curiouser!" Isn't it great! The wheels

McClellan Joins 'Not My Fault' Chorus
Wisco
by Wisco  5-27-2008    1
Politico's Mike Allen writes: Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” and took a “permanent campaign approach” to governing at the expense of candor and competence. This adds Scottie to people like Douglas Feith who insist that all that crazy stuff that happened in the Bush administration wasn't their fault -- that was all those neocon crazies like Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld. We're supposed to forget they would've been in a unique position to stop these crazies or that they were one of them. Still we get a little truth-telling.

"War on Terrorism" is for US Global Hegemony
blueridge
by blueridge  2-26-2008
Read this classic entirely from the British MP in 2003. It details the neocon blueprint, from the Project for a New American Century, including the suspicious nature of the 9/11 "attacks". The neocon blueprint he refers to in this article was written in Sept. 2000, one year prior to 9/11, the "catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor" that precisely fit their own words, perfectly, to justify execution of the plan. It's plain evidence of a conspiracy, well documented. Republishing this here because too many have still not seen this or forgot about it.

Millions Without A Voice
zasel
by zasel  2-11-2008
Voter disenfranchisement is something that must be gotten rid of. When a person commits a crime, and is sentenced to prison or jail, they do not become less of a citizen. Their crime is being paid for with the loss of their physical freedom, but their citizenship is not taken away from them as part of it. It is only the Republican party that benefits from the use of voter disenfranchisement, and they constantly fight any effort to do away with this practice. In Florida, for example, it was demonstrated as to how tens of thousands of men were disenfranchised from voting by the manipulation of names in the prison registries. This is an undemocratic process and it must be dealt with, if we want to remain the so-called beacon of Democracy throughout the world. What a huge guffaw that is.
