POPSMake-believe Maverick An excerpt from an article on the Real John McCain; not the fairy tale that he's been selling in Washington for decades. Whether you plan to vote for him or not, it's worth it to read this article. Find out about the unstable, antisocial, laissez-faire lout that half of Americans want in charge of their military and nuclear arsenal. If his history (even after Viet Nam) is any example, he should be nuking Iran and Russia by about July 2009

POPSSay It Ain't So Pat Pat Robertson, that Nostradamus of the 21st century, has done it again. Although his previous predictions haven't fared all that well there's always a first time. And if his prognostications fail to materialize, there's always the "God works in mysterious ways" get out of jail free card. In conclusion, I'd like to offer my own Elixir of Health and Life Extender. Just send $4.98 to ...

POPSUS Approves Nuclear Deal with India compare this to the US refusal to permit Iran to have nuclear civilian technology, even thought it complies to a higher standard than India apparently. Also... India has said it retains the right to conduct nuclear tests and this: allows India to expand its nuclear power industry without requiring it to sign the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as other nations must. And India is next door to Pakistan, where the US is worried about terrorists.

POPSThe Core Misconceptions In The "War On Terror" "Terrorism is a particular tactic of political violence. Wars are conducted between states. Declaring a war on terror is like declaring war on serial murderers. War is what al-Qaeda wants. Such language elevates the terrorists to the level of warriors in a battle. The terrorists are criminals, not warriors, and should be treated accordingly. "

POPS'Chemical equator' keeps southern air clean The virtual map says it all. Now it means the approach to the solution of the pollution problem needs to be tackled in different ways in each hemisphere. Atmospheric pollution is only one problem. More investigation needs to be done into the nature of oceanic pollution. it did make me wonder of the Nuclear Fusion experiments on Mururoa (Aopuni) and Bikini atolls in French Polynesia last Century. The first nuclear test was conducted on July 2, 1966, code named Aldebaran. France abandoned nuclear testing in the atmosphere in 1974 and moved testing underground in the midst of intense world pressure. A total of 147 underground nuclear tests were conducted at Mururoa and Fangataufa. This practice created much controversy as cracking of the atolls was discovered, A 1979 test conducted at half the usual depth caused a large submarine landslide on the southwest rim of the atoll. Just somehow seemed relevant

POPSWhy Americans Can't Get US Oil That last statement seems to be true. I rarely come to clipmarks that I don't see articles detailing the harm of wind, solar, nuclear, etc.

POPSVenezuela Set to Develop Nuclear Power With Russia No surprise here, but what will the US do about it as we are being encircled by our avowed enemies? Of course we can't intervene in other nations; that's so un-American. We don't want to offend anyone so we tolerate, even invite the vipers in...just like Israel.

POPSThe Spies who love Obama
The world is a very complicated place and there are not always easy solutions to a lot of the problems out there," says John Brennan, a top Obama intelligence advisor and former senior CIA official who co-founded the Terrorist Threat Integration Center and the National Counterterrorism Center, a post-9/11 effort to integrate the US government's terror threat intelligence. "If you look at the world in black and white, you miss a lot of the subtleties out there. 'Either with us or against'—the world is not divided into good and evil a lot of time. Despite America's military might, a lot of these problems do not lend themselves to kinetic solutions"—i.e. the use of force. And world dynamics are likely to get more complicated and nuanced, not less, by 2025. "It's time to update our national security strategy to stay one step ahead of the terrorists," Obama said at Indiana's Purdue University. "It's time to look ahead—at the dangers of today and tomorrow rather than those of yesterday.

POPSMcCain's Foreign Policy: Global Democratic Gang McCain calls for a "League of Democracies" for the purposes of "peace" but actually for war. Its key principle is "entangling alliances" which George Washington warned against, starting with NATO as its foundation. This is actually an old plan and precisely what the UN is all about except it cuts China and Russia out. This is consistent with George Bush (Bush 41) "new world order" speech where he talked about a United Nations that lives up to the intention of its founders, as he launched Iraq War I. GWB 43 has also made reference to similar principles while already by-passing the UN when it is reluctant to launch a war. Actually it makes little difference, except to show that Russia and China will be cut out of decisions because they will be the new targets of contest under his neocon vision. The call to "make the world safe for democracy" (like Wilson and FDR) has been the foundation of world wars, and likely more.
