POPS50 Billion Suns! -The Biggest Single Object in the Universe Based on this self-regulating maximum rate, scientists at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, Massachusetts, and the European Southern Observatory, Chile, have calculated an upper limit for these mega-mammoth masses. Fifty billion suns, that's 100 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 kg, otherwise known as "ridiculously stupidly big" and triple the size of the largest observed black hole, OJ 287.

POPSDepression: It's Spiritually Incorrect In the face of such ignorance I say this, a prayer a priest friend recently taught me: "Jesus, save me from your followers." (Or, my secular version: "I'm sorry. My fault. I forgot you were an idiot.")

POPSWhat Have We Taught Them? First, the leaders in the Democratic Party have given these issues as little attention as the Republicans. Democrats in control of the House and Senate have taken no action to challenge and dismantle these abuses. I suspect that the front-runners in the Democratic Party, and those who fund them (particularly those who fund them), are looking forward to what they can accomplish with warrantless searches and seizures, arbitrary arrest and imprisonment, and signing statements. Second, the Republican Party itself has had a long tradition of supporting Constitutional principles, particularly the value of a limited government and maximum freedom. I do not know where those Republicans have been hiding for the past six years, but it is time for them to come out and assert themselves.

POPSOprah as a role model for Saudi women “Oprah is the magic word for women here who want to scream out loud, who want to be heard,” Ms. Muhammad said. “Look at what happened to the girl from Qatif,” she said, referring to the infamous case of a young woman who was gang-raped, then sentenced to flogging because she had been in a car with an unrelated man. The young woman from Qatif received a royal pardon last year after her case became an international media cause célèbre.

POPSIch Bin Ein Plutonian! There may be a lot of residual sympathy for the little guy. The fight would come to a crest when the candidates start comparing themselves to Pluto as the "underdog" Pluto's a dog. Get it? From there, the story could tangent off to anywhere. Is exclusion of Kuiper Belt objects akin to a prejudice? And if so, is it more like racism or sexism? If it's more like a rock then a planet, was it intelligently designed? Should we subject all celestial bodies to some sort of standardized testing system? Should it be the next destination after the Chinese beat us to Mars? Most importantly, what does Oprah think?<<

POPSMalignant Narcissicm "The public record shows this: First, within the minds of Barack and Michelle Obama resides the grandiose, even megalomaniacal notion that they have the power to make the world as-it-is into the world-as-it-should be. Second, the Obamas look to talk-show host, Oprah Winfrey, as their "global role model" to effect this change. Third, as the Obamas' model for change, Oprah relentlessly promotes the grandiose New Age religion of her guru, Eckhart Tolle. "

POPSOprah-- #1 according to Forbes' power player list she's just amazing- she keeps going, going, going and going. I never really watch her show- but it is amazing how anything Oprah touches seems to turn to gold. The world is her audience- she has such a command over people.

POPSMessiah In Our Midst She proclaims her husband is the sort of leader who will fix our broken souls. Those of you who thought we had a Second Amendment to keep government from fixing your soul are so 20th century. Evolve already. When asked in an interview what sin is, Obama defined it as “Being out of alignment with my values.” Apparently, the editor failed to capitalize the “M” in “My.” “I am absolutely certain,” Obama proclaimed in his victory speech, “that generations from now, we will be able to look back and tell our children that this was the moment when we began to provide care for the sick and good jobs for the jobless; this was the moment when the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal. This was the moment — this was the time — when we came together to remake this great nation ...”

POPSSalad Bar Christianity This is just another example of a man-made god. Taking the parts we like from all religious practices and mixing them together to form a hodgepodge of beliefs that Jesus warned against. Jesus declared unashamedly that he was the way the truth and the life not just one of many. Man loves to remake God into their own image, changing the absolute rightness of God for a rightness that suits each individual. The salad bar analogy works good here because the tendency of people is to take what they like and leave what they do not like. Most times it is the food that is best for us that we leave on the salad bar.

POPS What Queen Rania wants for the world Beauty and brains ..."in the West, people look at the veil as a sign of oppression or weakness. This is not true as long as a woman is wearing it because of her belief."

POPSMagical Thinking or Positive Thinking?
Another reason why I don't care who endorses a product (or idea). Just because millions of Americans have fallen for one idea or another and because some big name celebrity is on the bandwagon, does NOT mean it's a good idea (even if you would otherwise support the celebrity aka "are a big fan"). (Likewise, just because you hate an organization or a certain celebrity does not mean that their ideas don't have merit.) The key to life (YMMV): THINK FOR YOUR DAMN SELF! Believers and non-believers alike were given a brain by their creator and according to most religions were also given FREE WILL. This apparently was not for nothing. Just like women were given breasts for feeding, all humans were given brains for thinking. $HIT HAPPENS! It's the thinking human being who knows how to dig out of the $hit and find a pony (yeah, even if it's crippled...it's better than letting someone else do the digging for you and thus taking all the credit)! There is NO SECRET! Just live!

POPSMO Bookstore Owner Burns Books to Protest I've emailed Oprah to see if she could get him to give his books to John Wood, who is collecting books and delivering them to remotes parts of the world. Here is this man's address and phone number. We need to call him and tell him to stop burning them. They are precious to these people. Prospero's Books: 1800 West 39th Street, Kansas City, MO 64111 (816) 531-9673

POPSBeauty & Image: The Reality This collage depicts the fact that society has imposed the perception that beauty and image is important for women. However, just like Oprah's belief, there are good and bad ways to reach the ideal body. For instance, Jean Kilbourne in "The More You Subtract, The More You Add", agrees with Oprah that the images that society portrays of beauty has a negative impact on some women. Kilbourne states,"Thus many girls spend enormous amounts of time and energy attempting to achieve something that is not only trivial but also completely unattainable" (Kilbourne 260). There are incorrect manners of reaching the desired body, as depicted on the right side, which include dangerous diet products and eating disorders. Oprah promotes the use of healthy dieting and exercise on her show; therefore, she also follows the idea that being skinny and "perfect" is not necessary to live a good life.

POPSObama endorsed by CA Republican Governor's Wife (Maria Shriver) More: "Every single person can come to you and tell you, 'You should vote for this person' or 'You should vote for that person.' `It's not right to speak up. It's not right to speak out,' " Shriver said, her voice echoing through the arena."But this is a moment to have a conversation with yourself, not anyone else. Have a conversation with your own heart. And ask yourself, 'What kind of America do I believe in?' "
