POPSMarxist Principles Cannot be Destroyed Never think it could never happen to us, it's happening now. It is hard to imagine our country has come so far towards communism in such a short period of time. We are at the crossroads, one direction will steer us back towards the Constitution, the other to the elimination of it altogether.

POPSMoodys Warns U.S. Aaa Rating In Danger if it doesn't reduce the debt - either with taxes or cutting expenditures. Notice they gave the administration "3-4 years" so as to allow for an Obama re-election before raising taxes. Then it's all hell breakin' loose for taxes. Either that or let the rating fall and apologize for the fact that we ever had a Triple-A in the first place and appeal to our "empathy for those nations that never had top rating. This would also fit into the progressive p.r. agenda.

POPSFall colors fade in U.S. west as Aspen Trees die
Dale Bartos, aspen ecologist with the Rocky Mountain Research Station, is cautious about using climate-based forecasts to predict an end to aspen. "I see aspen moving up and down the hillsides with climate change," he said. "As it dries out, we may see aspen on the lower end move up the hill. I don't think the answer is cut and dried." Others foresee a grim outlook for a tree long associated with the appeal of the West. "What we think will happen is that aspen will disappear in some areas and there will not be anything we can do about it," said SAD expert Wayne Shepperd. A study by the federal Rocky Mountain Research Station presented just such a scenario. It predicted the near total disappearance of aspen in the Rocky Mountain region by 2090. The research, to be published in Forest Ecology and Management, concludes that up to 41 percent of Western forests would be unable to support aspen by 2030. That figure would rise to 75 percent by 2060 and as much as 94 percent

POPSAfghan outlook bleak as Taliban grabs territory While Obama plans his Peace Prize speech, our declared enemy is defeating our military for lack of commitment by their Commander-in-Chief. This is a travesty. The Taliban will, again, make Afghanistan it's launching site for terror attacks against the West, enslave it's population, and the soldiers who gave their lives there will have done it for nothing. All because of a lack of will. Well Ms Michelle says that she is now proud of America....I couldn't be more ashamed of her husband's treachery and abandonment. This is aiding our enemies and undermining the American soldier. Shame! This is Vietnam times TEN.

POPSOrganic Waste Ethanol Cellulosic ethanol is an exciting technology which promises to convert the abundant sources of organic waste worldwide (kitchen waste, yard waste, paper industry waste, etc.) into green alternative fuel. Unlike traditional ethanol, it won't use food crops or raise food prices. In addition, environmental impact studies have indicated that while traditional ethanol releases more greenhouse gases than burning fossil fuels, cellulosic ethanol could reduce emissions

POPSAustralian & Canadian Employers Adding Jobs! ......after a 31,900 increase in August. The jobless rate was probably unchanged at a 33-year low of 4.3 percent. The Bureau of Statistics releases the report tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in Sydney. Sustained jobs growth justifies the Reserve Bank's decision to raise its benchmark interest rate in August to damp inflation pressures in an economy that is growing at the fastest annual pace in three years. Miners are hiring workers as they expand to meet surging Chinese demand and retailers are opening new stores as consumer spending picks up. ``The odds favor another decent jobs number, consistent with the underlying strength of the economy,'' said Su-Lin Ong, senior economist at RBC Capital Markets in Sydney. ``We expect the unemployment rate to hold down at a three-decade low confirming the stretched nature of the labor market.''

POPSDylan Ratigan Comments on Healthcare Some good ideas here. Just wanted to make note on Dylan in general. Came from FastMoney on CNBC, now brings, FINALLY, an even-handed (truly) (No, really!) presence and intelligent outlook on nearly every topic, to MSNBC, of all places. Well that is absolutely where it's badly needed the most. He can still see straight. He's on mornings and the heavy handed propaganda hosts are put off till almost lunchtime. (Then you can change from MesSNBC so you don't lose that lunch.)

POPSRussian Professor Predicts End of U.S. Interest in his forecast revived this fall when he published an article in Izvestia, one of Russia's biggest national dailies. In it, he reiterated his theory, called U.S. foreign debt "a pyramid scheme," and predicted China and Russia would usurp Washington's role as a global financial regulator. Americans hope President-elect Barack Obama "can work miracles," he wrote. "But when spring comes, it will be clear that there are no miracles." People like him have forecast similar cataclysms before, he says, and been right. He cites French political scientist Emmanuel Todd. Mr. Todd is famous for having rightly forecast the demise of the Soviet Union -- 15 years beforehand. "When he forecast the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1976, people laughed at him," says Prof. Panarin.

POPSStudies Show Employers to Raise Health Care Costs, Cut Coverage As the Washington Post reported Tuesday, the grim outlook for employer-provided health insurance is growing more dismal still: Forty percent of employers surveyed said they are likely to increase the amount their workers pay out of pocket for doctor visits. Almost as many said they are likely to raise annual deductibles and the amount workers pay for prescription drugs. Nine percent said they plan to tighten eligibility for health benefits; 8 percent said they plan to drop coverage entirely. Forty-one percent of employers said they were "somewhat" or "very" likely to increase the amount employees pay in premiums -- though that would not necessarily mean employees are paying a higher percentage of the premiums. Employers could simply be passing along the same proportional share of the overall increase that they did in 2009.

POPSStunted outlook on neglect of kids " What can the United States do? The State Department each year publishes heavily researched reports on human rights, drug trafficking, religious freedom and human trafficking. All of these are important topics. But is any of them as critical as saving a billion children from life as a mental cripple? Why not a new report, on human nutrition, with appropriate penalties for the nations that neglect their children?"

POPSGiant Cloud Of Marijuana Smoke Discovered In Space Other astronomers with a religious outlook, see something else. They believe God exhaled the smoke after creating the Universe. When God rested on the seventh day, He probably lit up a trillion joints. This theory would answer many theological issues. Further analysis of the marijuana cloud indicates the cloud is rotating. Astronomers now think the cloud will collapse on itself and form stars and planets in the distant future. One day, an extra-terrestrial species of beings made from marijuana smoke could evolve to answer all the questions of the Universe.

POPSPOLL: Opposition to Health Care Reform Is on the Rise
One additional figure shows the extent to which the Obama star has faded: At his 100-day mark in April, 60 percent of Americans expressed confidence in him "to make the right decisions for the country's future." Today, just past 200 days into his presidency, it's 49 percent. Tellingly, in a result that's been steady since spring, even among Republicans, fewer than half " 46 percent " have confidence in their own party to make "the right decisions" for the country. And just 25 percent of Americans identify themselves as Republicans, vs. 35 percent Democrats " roughly steady since 2007, as disapproval of George W. Bush pushed the country away from what had been political parity a few years earlier. Obama's best hope is that a less gloomy economic outlook could leaven the public's mood more generally. One risk is that economic expectations can improve long before current conditions follow suit. Another is that when economic discontent eventually does ease,

POPSWhy I don't watch horror movies From a discussion of the movie Deadgirl . More: Nope, that’s all entirely coincidental… I think we should be more mindful of what we allow into our minds; whatever we put in stays there, and the sum-total of our thoughts and memories is who we are. There are many, many other things we can choose to absorb into ourselves instead that foster a brighter outlook on life or convey useful information (even if it’s in a disturbing way). In my opinion the problem isn’t disturbing or violent imagery per se, it’s subjecting ourselves to enormous amounts of it that lacks any constructive context.
