POPS Iowa Congressman And Glenn Beck Agree: Sunday Health Care Vote Is 'An Affront To God' Said the godless men. Cont... "As Think Progress points out, a Republican-controlled Senate convened on Palm Sunday in 2005 to pass a measure which granted a federal court the power to intervene in the religiously-charged Terri Schiavo case. Beck himself recently irked various religious leaders when he told listeners earlier this month to "run as fast as you can" from churches and denominations that advocated "social or economic justice" because they were really pushing tenets of Communism and Nazism."

POPSDevice could create real-life Spiderman Once attached, the beetle is capable of holding loads 100 times its own weight. Professor Paul Steen, a biomolecular engineer at Cornell University, found that by pumping tiny droplets of water through microscopic holes in a flat plate, he could exploit the surface tension of the water to "glue" the plate to another surface. Using an electrical field to pump the water through the holes, he was also able to reverse the process, allowing the plate to become unstuck on demand simply by changing the electric field.

POPSThe Evisceration Of David Broder Begins In 3…2…1 What resonates with her supporters and mortifies her opponents is her steadfast declaration that, "First and foremost, I want to be a good mom, and I want to raise happy, healthy, independent children. And I want them to be good citizens of this great country.” "And then I do want to be a voice for some common-sense solutions. I'm never going to pretend like I know more than the next person. I'm not going to pretend to be an elitist. In fact, I'm going to fight the elitist, because for too often and for too long now, I think the elitists have tried to make people like me and people in the heartland of America feel like we just don't get it, and big government's just going to have to take care of us.” "I want to speak up for the American people and say: No, we really do have some good common-sense solutions. I can be a messenger for that. Don't have to have a title to do it."

POPSPatrick “Patches” Kennedy is calling somebody else a “joke”? "During the famous “traditional Easter weekend” in Palm Beach in 1991, Patches and Teddy ducked out of St. Edwards and walked down to Chuck & Harold’s on Royal Poinciana Way." "It was 11:45 a.m. I saw the bar tab. In a half-hour, Teddy quaffed three Bloody Marys and Patches had three Long Island iced teas. This is not long after he’d gotten out of a detox center for his cocaine addiction, and he’s slopping down five-shot drinks, before noon. He’s never been all there."

POPSToyota's Faulty Accelerator Two weeks ago, I was parallel parking my Toyota Camry between my son's car behind me, and my neighbor's car in front. As I was backing up, the car accelerated and I hit my son's car, cracking his front bumper. I immediately took it out of reverse and into drive and the car accelerated again, in spite of my foot being on the brake, and I hit my neighbor's brand new car's rear bumper. The force of both impacts was unbelievable for having occurred within such a small space. I knocked on my neighbor's door and informed him: "Dave, I've got some real bad news for you. I just smashed the shit out of your new car."

POPSArf, Arf! Barry and Bo Work on The State of the Union While Axelrod Fiddles and Rahm Burns
“Look where triangulation got him,” said Barry. “A library the Saudis paid for, and an office in Harlem. No, thanks.” He pounded the desk. “Bill Clinton is not a world historical figure. I am.” “Mr. President,” Axelrod said gently. “Your whole agenda is collapsing. Senators are panicking. Ben Nelson is afraid to go out to a restaurant for dinner "” “We don’t need Ben Nelson anymore,” said Rahm. “Send him a gift card from Dominos and he can order in for the next year. It’s time to play hardball, Slim. No retreat, no surrender, you’re on the bus or under the bus.” “Sir, with all due respect, this is exactly the wrong approach,” said Axelrod. Barry glared at him. “It’s decided. Tell the speechwriters that I want the word `fight’ used in every paragraph of the State of the Union Address.” He smacked his fist into the palm of his hand, winced. “I’m a fighter, fighting the good fight for you.” I bared my teeth in approval.

POPSAfghan corruption threatens to topple Karzai, UN says The report says that Afghans were asked to pay a bribe on 40 per cent of the occasions that they met with members of the government and adds: “A political system operating under such corrupt conditions cannot survive.” The typical bribe was £100 in a country where the average income is just £260 a year but judges, prosecutors, police and government officials were demanding bribes of up to £600, with other officials such as teachers, doctors and nurses demanding smaller bribes. The report says it is “almost impossible to obtain a public service in Afghanistan without greasing a palm.” It adds that the Afghan people were “under the impression that it is cheaper to buy a judge than to hire a lawyer.” “Not surprisingly,” it says, “Most Afghans have no confidence that the state is able or willing to tackle their problems.”
