CoerciveCare Bill Passes House 220-215, Sat Night
blueridge
by blueridge  11-8-2009    2
Mandatory health care insurance reform bill passes House. Socialist Security 2.0. Never mind that half the population opposed this. And the "public option" is not optional--it is now mandated that you must buy health insurance. How is it that the Federal government can force you to buy something? Private property rights are trampled, the government thinks it can tell you to buy something or face jail and/or tax penalties. This also then means every American's private and personal health information will be put into a data-base system, the end of privacy. Your health care, and body, will belong to the Collectivist Society now and the Government , which will no doubt link this to your National ID Card (REAL ID and PASS ID system) --increasing the Electronic Leash on "free" Americans.

Two Common Objections to Capitalism
Rustee
by Rustee  11-5-2009
The system of voluntary exchange and experimentation based on secure private-property rights — what we loosely call "capitalism" — expands rather than restricts our material and nonmaterial opportunities. Substituting elite power for voluntary exchange invites all sorts of epistemological problems and moral disasters. For these reasons, capitalism deserves to be defended.

Michigan Raid Reveals a Mysterious Islamic Sect
infidel70
by infidel70  10-29-2009    2
According to documents filed in U.S. District Court here earlier this week, Abdullah, 53, called his followers to an “offensive jihad,” rather than a “defensive jihad,” and urged them to carry, and use, firearms and swords. The documents note the group was evicted from its Detroit mosque earlier this year because it failed to pay property taxes. The precise origins of the Ummahs are unclear. Its national leader is Jamil Abdullah Al-Amin, a militant former civil rights activist also known as H. Rap Brown. In 2002, he was convicted of fatally shooting two Georgia police officers. He is serving a life sentence at a federal prison. Read more: http://detroit.blogs.time.com/2009/10/29/michigan-raid-reveals-a-mysterious-islamic-sect/#ixzz0VNInOYMF

10 reasons to hang dry laundry: 1. Save money. 2. Clothes last longer. 3. Clothes and linens smell better. 4. It conserves energy and environmental resources. 5. Hanging laundry is a moderate physical activity that can be done outside. 6. Sunlight bleaches and disinfects. 7. Indoor racks can humidify in dry and cold climates. 8. It is safer. Clothes dryer fires account for about 17,700 fires, 15 deaths and 360 injuries annually. 9. It is a fun outdoor experience that can be meditative and community-building. 10. Small steps make a difference.

For an organism as large and as powerful as the United States "what it takes" is a frightening thought.

The 1,400 legal benefits of marriage in the US

More: spousal exemptions to property tax increases upon the death of one partner who is a co-owner of the home; veterans' discounts on medical care, education, and home loans; joint filing of tax returns; joint filing of customs claims when traveling; wrongful death benefits for a surviving partner and children; bereavement or sick leave to care for a partner or child; decision-making power with respect to whether a deceased partner will be cremated or not and where to bury him or her; crime victims' recovery benefits; loss of consortium tort benefits; domestic violence protection orders; judicial protections and evidentiary immunity; and more.... Most of these legal and economic benefits cannot be privately arranged or contracted for. For example, absent a legal (or civil) marriage, there is no guaranteed joint responsibility to the partner and to third parties (including children) in such areas as child support, debts to creditors, taxes, etc.

Permission?

Long article at source - required reading... The public has an legal obligation to let the government know when they are displeased, and the only part that armed thugs in police uniforms need to play in this is to insure that the traffic flow continues (around the demonstrations), and that property is not destroyed. That's what they get paid to do. It is not the job of "police" to censor or to silence whatever the public has come out to say-to the so-called powers-that-be.

Obama calls it WMD: Terror threat seen as 'most serious' since 9/11 attacks
clip-on-tie
by clip-on-tie  9-25-2009    1
Obama admin. says explosives = WMD Iraq had massive amounts of explosives in 2003 Ergo Iraq had WMD The American people get this. The left’s obsession with the rights of terrorists finds no support among sensible citizens. But the issue’s been hijacked by the America-hating zealots who shaped our president’s worldview and by media scoundrels who would rather have their country die for them. I guess we can put the whole "Bush lied, blah blah blah" crap to bed now that Obama's Justice Department has declared high explosives to be weapons of mass destruction. Iraq was, and remains, awash in high explosives. Ipso facto. However when it is shown, absolutely, that Obama lies every time his lips move, liberals do not seem to notice. Some say the left has a double standard. I say they have no standards whatsoever. Probably the fault of the Jews for beaming high intensity radiation at liberal heads. /s

COERCIVE CARE: Real Concerns About the Health Care Bill, The Tyranny of Good Intentions
blueridge
by blueridge  8-12-2009    1
The health care bill is all about Federal control over every "free" American. Insurance would be mandatory and compulsory and the government gives you "options" through coercion, including the IRS leaning on you ("penalty") if you try to "opt out" and retain your basic human rights, i.e. private property (how you spend your own money), control of your body, and freedom of choice. Then your entire privacy is jeapordized as the Federal government becomes your legal guardian and Nanny, supervising, monitoring, and tracking (in real electronic time) every health procedure and examination of every minutia of your life. So much for "freedom" then. Moreover, information is power, and this personal information on you provides the government the means of coercing you into what Big Brother thinks is "in your best interest", i.e. really the interest of the Collectivist State. A Healthcare National ID card has been discussed. The principle is nothing other than Communism.

Now let me get this straight. The Navaho folks, which probably now only number about 45 individuals or so expect me to just hand them over $10 billion in cash?" Nooooo way! You know folks, I was born at night, but it wasn't last night. I am categorically gonna go out on a limb here and state for the recorded record that I ain't paying diddly squat. And let me make this point perfectly clear. I want that sumbitch eyesore moved off United States property by October 15. Nobody not even the non-drinking Mormons are gonna mess with the brother here. Cause I am the 'main man' and I have been to hundreds of picnics and there ain't nobody, especially no loincloth wearing folks gonna push around this half African-American boy. The president was so upset that one of his secret service agents had to bring him an L&M cigarette and a Bud Light Beer. President Obama finally calmed down. He called up the Attorney General and told him to draw up the paperwork for a counter offer.

Americans Are Living and Dying In A Militarized Police State
disenchantedcitizen
by disenchantedcitizen  8-17-2009
Criminals have gotten better armed and more violent. Drug dealers are notorious for carrying weapons and historically have easily outgunned police. So these are reasons why police have become more heavily weaponized. Plus, respect for police has gone into the crapper. Blame for this lies with the police as well as with civilians. Frustration on both sides heat up seemingly benign situations and if there is a gun within reach someone is going to suffer. This has created a very dangerous atmosphere for unarmed citizens which has lead to increased gun sales. It has become an arms race between citizens and their protectors. All of this adds up to the increased need to protect our rights to bear arms and to loudly declare our opposition to our government paving the way for martial law. No one wants to see our cities become militarized police zones. Read the clip for horror stories of police and civilians over-reacting on misinformation usually resulting in death.

Gun Control Bill H.R. 45 Not a Hoax: Universal Licensing Requirement
blueridge
by blueridge  8-16-2009    5
Updated. This article in a blog (inaccurately mentioning "Senate bill") was deleted, but the House Bill HR 45 is real (proof here at Thomas/Library of Congress) , not "an internet hoax", although not proceeding with any sponsors.. It was introduced on Jan. 6, 2009 before Obama's inauguration. This COULD happen, though it appears dead now. "Owning guns is not a right, but a privilege", will be their mantra--the 2nd amendment of the Constitution be damned. This was how your owning a car has been used against you too, first licensing, then collecting your SSN and other personal data, then attaching all kinds of other requirements (from draft registration to property taxes, child support payments, et al) in order to legally drive or even park a car that you purchased yourself as a "free American". Do not buy into this "privilege, not right" rhetoric which they will soon begin to parrot.

Hugo Chavez of Venuzuela: New Laws: Saint or Sinner?

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is a very interesting person, making profound changes in his nation and strong in his opposition to many U.S. policies. He's in the headlines today for new laws that cut out state support for Catholic education in the schools, introduction of "socialist doctrine," (about'The Liberator', Simón Bolívar), restrictions on hostile media and (gasp!) rights of the government to expropriate property. He opposes Israeli policies of warmongering, apartheid and genocide, is not only forming alliances with Russian and Iran but is building up a substantial coalition of Central and South American countries. The clip here is about the U.S. now planning to put "troops on the ground in Columbia," - (after a lifetime of covert military actions --- Columbia is one of the USA proxy armies in the region). He's also called George Bush the Devil (good for him) and he disdains the game of golf (probably shouldn't have mentioned this). Saint or Sinner? ¿Otro

Is Opposing or Parodying Obama as a Socialist "Racist"?
blueridge
by blueridge  8-8-2009    1
The superficial seem to claim that is the case, and in fact that is how many promoted him to be President, as if the White House needed an Affirmative Action policy to be white-washed in political-correctness and the most superficial of "change"--one of race and color (while Big Government and Wars for "democracy" are continued). Opposition was frequently decried as "racism". Boaz makes a great defense here, with examples in the press, even pointing toward "classical liberalism" to dispel the myth of the charge. Then he closes his argument thus: And it is not good for democracy to try to counter every opposing argument with such a blood libel. The good news for advocates of limited government is that our opponents are displaying a striking lack of confidence in the actual arguments for their proposals. If they thought they could win a debate on nationalizing health care, or running trillion-dollar deficits, they wouldn’t need to reach for such smears.

Sparta Reconsidered

The Spartan public educational system, the agoge, was admired almost universally by contemporaries, from historians such as Herodotus and Xenophon to philosophers such as Plato and Aristotle. Although Spartans were proud to say that they built their monuments "in flesh"—meaning that the virtue and courage of Sparta's citizens were the greatest monuments a city-state could possess—they were not lacking in architectural and artistic achievements, as was well catalogued by the Ancient Greek tour-guide, Pausanias. Spartan music and dance were famous throughout the ancient world, and the oldest recorded heterosexual love poem was the work of a Spartan poet praising Spartan maidens. Spartan wit and mastery of rhetoric were so widely admired that ancient Greek scholars collected "Spartan sayings" and the "Laconic" style of speech was studied and imitated in intellectual circles. & as a culture, not all that gay[/u

Among those arguing for the military use besides Cheney were his legal adviser David S. Addington and some senior Defense Department officials, the Times reported."

Highway through the building

The building has a double core construction, with a circular cross section and special care is taken by providing surrounded structure to the highway to protect the building from noise and vibration. Generally expressways are built underground, and passing through a building is an extremely rare occasion. It dates back to 1983, when the redevelopment of this area was decided upon, "building permits were refused because the highway was already being planned to be built over this land. The property rights' holders refused to give up, and negotiated with the Hanshin Expressway corporation for approximately 5 years to reach the current solution."
