"Bush F****d Up the War": said Repub Senator
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  7-18-2007    2
The findings echo similar assessments of the terror threat from British spy chiefs. They inflamed an already febrile atmosphere in Congress, where Mr Bush is haemorrhaging support from Republicans. Mr Voinovich is not the only ally of the President losing faith. Yesterday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, owned by the hitherto loyal businessman Richard Mellon Scaife, branded the Bush administration's plans to stay the course in Iraq a "prescription for American suicide". Don't know who Richard Mellon Scaife is? He is the billionaire rightwing nutjob who funded the rightwings hitjob on President Clinton. "We're going to get Clinton," Joan Bingham, a New York publisher present at the lunch, remembers him saying. "And you'll be much happier," he said to Bingham and another Democrat at the table Who's happy now?

Former GOP Senator Quits Republican Party
BobbyRutan
by BobbyRutan  9-17-2007    4
No room for moderates in the Republican Party. Good job Karl Rove. More: Chafee himself laid out some of the ways he disagreed with his party, notably as one of only 23 senators and the only Republican to oppose the resolution supporting the invasion of Iraq. He went on to criticize the “permanent deficits” caused by Republican tax cuts. Chafee referred yesterday to the broad-based, bipartisan Iraq Study Group that Congress created, a process Chafee approved of. The study group recommended a gradual pullback of American forces, and insistence that the Iraqi government take more responsibility for security. But he said that since the study group made its recommendations, which he agreed with, “no one’s paid any attention to them.”

Bush Reneges on Plame Promise

Bush promised to fire anyone involved in the Plame leak. Now we know of several senior Bush Administration officials who leaked her identity. Rove, Libby, and Armitage all three have been fingered for revealing her identity to reporters. Still no action by Bush to live up to his promise.

Karl Rove Unraveling: Congress threatens arrest.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  5-28-2008    5
ormer White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan writes in a surprisingly scathing memoir to be published next week that President Bush “veered terribly off course,” was not “open and forthright on Iraq,” ALSO, RE; ROVE, McClellan asserts that Karl Rove, the president’s senior adviser, “Scooter” Libby and VP Cheney had a meeting on how to handle the Valarie Plame CIA leak case (i.e. a collusion in a Federal case) NOW a Congresswoman on the Judiciary Committee, said on TV yestereday that if Rove doesn't show up for a subpoena --- concerning the Siegelman's case. ---CONGRESS WILL ARREST HIM! Who knew Congress could arrest people!? (like a parliament deciding to arrest someone). Well, it turns out there is actually a one room jail in Congress and they can send out the 'sergeant at arms,' and (without the police or courts), go out and arrest someone. Whew! This just keeps getting -- as Alice in Wonderland cried -- ''Curiouser and curiouser!" Isn't it great! The wheels

Sam Harris: Yahweh Belongs on the Scrapheap of Mythology
laceym
by laceym  3-21-2007    4
I’d like to begin this exchange by making the observation that “atheist” is a term that should not even exist. We do not, after all, have a name for a person who does not believe in Zeus or Thor. In fact, we are all “atheists” with respect to Zeus and Thor and the thousands of other dead gods that now lie upon the scrapheap of mythology. ... Did someone around the time of Constantine discover that the pagan gods do not actually exist, while the biblical God does? Of course not. There are thousands of gods that were once worshipped with absolute conviction by men and women like ourselves, and yet we all now agree that they are rightly dead. An “atheist” is simply someone who thinks that the God of Abraham should be buried with the rest of these imaginary friends. I am quite sure that we need only use words like “reason,” “common sense,” “evidence,” and “intellectual honesty” to do the job.

White House 'neo-cons,' snubbing Iran since 2003
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  2-21-2007    6
What else is new? Well, actually when the US declared the presence of Iranian speedboats buzzings around the Gulf as "provacative,' I thought that was amazingly new. Imagine. The USAhreating war against Iran, threatening sactions against Iran, trying to stop Iran from developing nuclear power in an energy hungry world, insisting that Iran wants to develop and build nuclear weapons, attacking and occupying it's neighbors to the west and east (surrounding Iran), sending another aircraft carrier fleet -- the biggest war ship in the world -- sending it onto Iran's doorstep; and now to then declare Iran has started to act 'provocative." Nasty Irarnians and their speedboats! If we don't stop them there they'll be hounding us in New York Harbor.

by righthand  8-19-2007
Despite his vaunted "genius" for political skulduggery, in the end Rove too is a drab factotum, a bagman, a greasy cog in a vast machine that will keep grinding on, killing and corrupting, without him. (Assuming that Rove is actually stepping away from the machine, which is most unlikely.) Stories of far greater significance than the slinking exit of a dirt-smeared toady have appeared in the last two days -- items far more revelatory of the hellish world that the porcine minion has helped make on behalf of his masters. The boiling core of this hell is Iraq. Stories breaking while Rove and Bush were puddling up on the White House lawn revealed a new abyss of criminality in the war crime that the tearful tyrant and his henchman have engendered: the Mafia running guns to Bush's favored extremist factions in Iraq. As the Guardian reports, Italian anti-Mafia police, tracking down a drug deal, instead came across shipment of 105,000 AK-47s procured by the underworld for their paying clien

British Judge That Slammed Gore Film Exposed
cptenaud
by cptenaud  10-19-2007    2
Far from being an impartial jurist, Burton it turns out appears to be a reactionary conservative who has earned praise from the far-right, anti-immigrant British National Party for his ruling in 2005 that applied the nation’s Race Relations Act to cover the racial rights of White people. Hailing what it called Judge Burton’s history-making ruling, the BNP said, This now means that any organizations or companies that discriminate against a member of the British National Party are guilty of anti-white racism. The right-wing in America will stop at nothing these days to protect the profits of corporate polluters and since they have no scientific credibility at all with which to deny the man-made effects of global warming on this planet, they can only pull out the Karl Rove playbook and seek to attack the messenger. I can’t wait for the doctored 8x10 glossies of Al Gore and Britney. You know that’s coming next.

White House efforts to cover-up lies leading US into war admitted.
citizenbfk
by citizenbfk  7-13-2007    4
As Bush says here: "We should move on." He should move on to honor his promise to fire anyone who leaked CIA operative's name (i.ie. Cheney and Rove). We should also "move on," to impeachments since this is an admission of betraying one of one's own agents and endangering contacts and work of this CIA operative. We should "move on," to now continuing the Fitzgerald investigation : The crime of revealing the identity of a covert CIA agent did happen. Bush just admitted it. Note: She WAS a covert CIA agent. We should also "move on," to war crime trials since all this involved trying to cover-up the use of deliberately fabricated information (used in the State of the Nation) to mislead and mobilize our nation into a false and misdirected war for the beneift only of special interests and other nations, resulting in the death of approx. 3,600 USA troops, waste of billions, murder and destruction of a nation. This false claim war claims Saddam was trying to buy uranium
