POPSMore bad news for alarmists For example, the recent summary by Fred Singer and 22 expert contributors to “Nature, Not Human Activity, Rules the Climate” makes some extraordinary statements about computer models. (In addition to the many excellent contributors, this summary also contains 167 references to the scientific literature). This is important since computer models are being improperly, yet extensively, used by state legislatures as the basis of policies for greenhouse gas mitigation, rather than using actual climate data taken from the real world. These statements include: Computer models do not consider variations of irradiance and magnetic fields of the sun Computer models do not accurately model the role of clouds Computer models do not simulate a possible negative feedback from water vapor Computer models do not explain many features of the Earth’s observed climate. Computer models cannot produce reliable predictions of regional climate change.

POPS"My First-Hand Experience with Gov't Spies" America's new government, including the states, in action: Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act and the ACLU, we now know that "Lucy" was only one part of a vast, insidious project. The Maryland State Police's Department of Homeland Security devoted near 300 hours and thousands of taxpayer dollars from 2005 and 2006 to harassing people whose only crime was dissenting on the question of the war in Iraq and Maryland's use of death row.

POPSSchwarzenegger's Wage Slashing Order Won't Be Obeyed I predict that the terminator will end up terminating his harebrained idea about slashing state workers pay to minimum wage level now that he has started a rebellion. It turns out that ol' Arnie was trying to engage in a political stunt since the state does have enough funds on hand to meet its obligations. As to this callous GOPer's disregard to the little guy, one state worker proposed the appropriate corrective action: "I think the governor should fund the budget with his own resources until he and the Legislature can get together," said Paul Ablon, who has been a state attorney for nearly nine years. "And maybe he'll appreciate how it is to worry about paying your expenses."

POPSFood Stamp Use Soars In MA & Elsewhere “I think low-income families are faced and will be faced this winter with the difficult choice of eating or heating a home,” said Patricia Baker, senior policy analyst for the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute, a nonprofit organization that advocates for the poor. “We’re seeing prices escalating, and anything that a family can access to help them buy basic food for their families is critical.”

POPSKilts for mail carriers They'd have to update the motto: "Neither snow nor rain not heat nor gloom of night - nor embarrassing gusts of wind - stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds."

POPSThis Day in History-July 21 'Infamous Monkey Trial' "To show up fundamentalism,""to prevent bigots and ignoramuses from controlling the educational system of the United States." said Darrow. So what has changed after 80 years of intellectual backwardness?! Would this case be out of place in Bush's America - in the land of the 'free and home of the brave', mired in debt and death of its own making? Where now is the shinning beacon of liberty? What country has made 'democracy' a dirty word. What county elects an AWOL drunk as commander-in-chief, TWICE? Where is the KKK a white sheet away from power and the noose? What country is still loved even by it pseudo enemies?

POPSNational Anthem Not welcome in California State House Sometimes I wish that California would be hit with the "BIG ONE" and send it into Pacific Ocean. Thank God the children did not break out into a spontaneous chorus of Amazing Grace, they might have been tarred and feathered. For this unpatriotic display on the part of the California State capital this story belongs in the Cuckoos nest for sure. No wonder they call Cali the 'Left Coast' apparently the people who live out there have taken leave of their common sense.

POPSUS Senator Dumps His Pregnant Dog at Pound
I am an advocate for the State of South Carolina and for Animal Rights, especially "getting your Pet Spayed and Neutered in SC". This is my Animal Care Blog: http://animalcare-sc.blogspot.com/ South Carolina is a wonderful, beautiful and unique place to live. When I hear such discusting displays of negligence and uncaring it hurts my heart to detail it, when it is a blight on my Community and yet another shame for my State. However, this story is already "out there" and it needs to be addressed. One of our SC Senators is grossly incapable of compassion, running his own household, spaying and neutering his pets, and really should not be in charge of other people's lives. It's a shame. But do you really want men without compassion running your State and leading your Nation? So, it's about a dumb dog? NO. It's about the "heart condition" and "neglect of responsibility" of one of our so called Leaders. Lead Men "by example," if not, go sell shoes or "DO" something else!

POPSThe Long March "much of the wacky, upside-down, right-is-wrong, black-is-white stuff we see in the news these days is directly or indirectly inspired by Gramsci: the attacks on Christianity, the family, individual freedom, morality and moral judgements; multiculturalism; the cult of victimhood, "tolerance," political correctness, the replacement of the roles of family, religion, individual responsibility and choice with government rules, laws, and regs; the expansion of the State and the Welfare State and the Nanny State; anti-tradition, anti-capitalism, anti-success, anti-nationalism, anti-Americanism and anti-Westernism, etc - all the stuff that makes me echo Bob Grant with "It's sick out there, and getting sicker." I am sure Antonio never anticipated that a Green movement would emerge to become an ally of the slow, incrementalist and thus less-alarming Gramscian revolution."
