POPSGmail Spam trick A neat little way to see who sent you what e-mail. This could be useful for figuring out who is selling your email address to spamers

POPSclipmarks POP-A-THON: $1 per POP for UNICEF! For every POP this clip gets between now and 10 p.m. Eastern on Halloween 2006, I will give $1 to my nephew's school Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF campaign (up to $200). The POP will cost you nothing, it will cost me a $1. What do you have to lose? Let's help make some internet history by being part of (what I believe is) the first social bookmarking/networking community "POP-A-THON"! Imagine if every clipmarker gave $1 to a charity of choice for every one of their POPs?

POPSHow to Use First Names In the world of influence, names are money. Schoolteachers know it. Bartenders know it. Salesmen know it. Very polite children know it. These people have figured it out. A name well used makes any person feel seen. When someone uses my name, I know that he has at least considered me in some fashion, that my presence has registered. It conveys a substratum of intimacy, a level of connection, a sense that life does not have to be lived in a torpid fog of anonymous comings and goings.

POPS(doesn't work) Restarting Windows without restarting your PC THIS IS NOT WORKING FOR ME-SORRY FOR POSTING THIS. I think this was possible in Windows 98, in fact I'm sure it worked in Win 98. Can anyone else confirm? I should've check this earlier. A somewhat not-as-good alternative is to kill the explorer.exe process and then relaunch it with task manager, but it's not as clean and you still have some other DLLs and processes running that could be cleared up with a reboot. This will sometimes help if Windows gets frozen and you want to try something before hitting the reset or shutting down. Here's a link that explains how to kill the windows explorer shell: http://www.watchingthenet.com/how-to-restart-windows-explorer-shell-without-rebooting-windows.html I went to the source site to complain about them giving bad information, but the site is down (not surprised).

POPSAngola Miss Landmine Beauty Pageant The joint winners of the Angolan contest, Augusta Urica, 31, and Maria Restino Manuel, 26, were the embodiment of Traavik's ideal at the finale in the capital, Luanda, swathed in designer gowns, sashes and silver tiaras that crowned them Miss Landmine 2008. With 10 women representing their provinces, she hobbled up the platform on crutches to collect her prize - a golden, state-of-the-art prosthetic limb to replace the leg blown off 10 years ago. In Cambodia there should be no shortage of contenders for the 2009 title. There are 25,000 amputees among the country's 63,000 victims of landmines and blasts from unexploded ordinance left after 30 years of civil war. Up to 1m landmines remain buried, out of the estimated million mines planted along the border with Thailand after the invading Vietnamese left in 1989

POPSPrime Number Spiral I thought primes were much more random, but I was only guessing. Makes them seem like they have a place, rather than just turning up when no smaller numbers are interested in them.

POPSWhat Would It Take To Prove You Wrong? This is a powerful question to ask yourself when examining your beliefs. Doing so honestly, will make you a clearer and deeper thinker. It can be the difference between a person who simply revels in wishful thinking, and a heroic seeker of truth. Take a deep look into your own belief systems, and ask yourself what evidence it would take to convince you they were wrong. It's an uncomfortable exercise, but an important one.

POPSHow Do You Psyche Yourself? Up? Or Out? The moral of the story? No matter how high you jump, how fast you run or swim, how powerfully you row, you can do better. But sometimes your mind gets in the way. “All maximum performances are actually pseudo-maximum performances,” Dr. Morgan said. “You are always capable of doing more than you are doing.” From an article on how athletes trick their brains into letting them achieve what their bodies are capable of. I think this anecdote perfectly encapsulates what makes pushing one's personal boundaries so maddening yet rewarding. If I had more time, I would come up with some witty, insightful comments right about here, but I'm afraid I need to run (for work, unfortunately, not for pleasure). Anyone else have some thoughts? :)
