Boot United Nations Now!
sparlingphoto
by sparlingphoto  3-30-2007    9
cont: Here you have an open-and-shut case of a rogue, dictatorial regime kidnapping and holding hostage innocent soldiers...soldiers that were not in Iranian waters when they were apprehended. The Brits have the GPS data to prove it. One of the sailors is a woman, making the situation all the more outrageous. On top of all this, Iran is parading the soldiers on TV...in direct violation of the Geneva Convention. And what does the UN do? Nothing. Why? Because the UN is anti-American, and that makes it anti-Brit. It's time for not only the United States to pull out of the United Nations but for us to kick them out of the United States. Let's form another international organization composed of countries with elected governments that adhere to principles of economic freedom and guaranteed rights for their citizens. The UN? Give it Haiti. The two deserve each other. The left always tells us we need the U.N. as a place for countries to settle international disputes. Tell me just one

As they say "Use it or lose it" The study finds that regular exercise is the key. There doesn't seem to be any 'magic formula' (despite what they say on late night TV...or spam) except that the exercise be vigorous. That can be relative -walking is more vigorous than sitting down, but what can be described as vigorous escalates as fitness improves. Not just a matter of deciding to do 20 sit ups for example (it helps to start with an anchor) which can be an aim, but seem impossible. Start with what CAN be done, no matter the amount, and set targets. It also helps to monitor heart rate, as this can be a critical fitness measure. Everyone has their individual optimum heart rate, depending on fitness, age, and health.

Obama-Backed Ally Forged Pact With Radical Muslims
merrie
by merrie  8-4-2008
New book details intervention in Kenyan presidential election Two separate video segments in the news broadcast document that Obama spoke at the offices of Kenya's oldest newspaper, the Standard, where he accused the Kibaki government of suppressing freedom of speech, and at the University of Nairobi, where he accused the administration of corruption. Kenyan government spokesman Alfred Mutua, who accused Obama of meddling inappropriately in Kenyan presidential politics. Mutua said politely but pointedly that "I think Odinga has to look at critically where he is receiving his advice from. Just because somebody wants to run for president, and he is using Senator Obama as his stooge, as his puppet, to be able to get where he wants to get." Odinga, representing the Orange Democratic Movement, or ODM, and Sheik Abdullah Abdi, the chairman of the National Muslim Leaders Forum, or NAMLEF, signed an agreement Aug. 29, 2007.

Five People Reality Shows Hurt The Most
debbyski
by debbyski  7-24-2008    5
"And we don't want them to be obsessed with watching Tila Tequila to see if she's ultimately going to choose a guy or a girl to be her partner, either. Boys have plenty of time to learn about bisexuality; they do not need some MySpace whore in a sting bikini and stripper heels encouraging them to think about girls on girls. They'll waste enough time thinking about that when they're good and ready." My sentiments about Tila EXACTLY. Bi's already have enough stigmas to deal with!! Thanks to "The Bachelorette," little girls grow up seeing that if they can't find a husband on their own, they can just go on TV and make out with 25 different hot guys to magically find their Prince Charmings." *sigh* Moral of this story? Children are not small adults but adults can be small children sometimes.

Bush's Racist Police Buddies Taser Black Actor in 'W'.
righthand
by righthand  7-17-2008    2
Stone's film on the life of the US president has aroused fascination and anticipation among many, and Bush supporters are bracing for an unflattering portrayal of the president. Previous Stone biopics on Richard Nixon and John F Kennedy were the targets of critical praise as well as controversy. Shreveport remains a bastion of American conservatism, raising questions about whether politics fuelled the aggression during the arrest of Brolin and Wright. Shreveport police chief Henry Whitehorn has confirmed that police are reviewing audio and video of the incident and will submit the case to the city prosecutor's office for possible prosecution of the actors.

"Late Night" Successor Will Debut On The Web
David M Ewalt

So many "viewers" of late night TV actually catch clips of the shows via youtube or other video services in the days following broadcast. So launching a new late night host this way makes a lot of sense.

Supreme Court Ruling Inspires New TV Series
merrie
by merrie  7-9-2008
:) Here is some of what is set to air during the presidential elections in the fall of 2008. Check your local listings. Fast-paced and wildly comedic, the series confronts social issues, while it indoctrinates the viewers with correct progressive messages. Three major American networks are about to launch new legal drama series that feature lawyers litigating in defense of armed Muslim bystanders picked up on the battlefield and wrongly accused of being enemy combatants. Quick spin-offs of such successful shows as Law & Order and Boston Legal are in the works at ABC and NBC, while CBS promises an original sitcom about a lawyer who not only defends accused terrorists, but is himself a terrorist.

24 Unforgettable Advertisements
revenantdm
by revenantdm  7-7-2008    3
Just another set of weirdness that we human beings do to get attention. Marked Mature for the PETA ad as I will err on the side of caution... The Giant Prop ads remind me of the old TV shows and the movies of the 30s and 40s where they were very common... My favorite? The Mini Cooper ad... Priceless!

100 Greatest TV Quotes and Catchphrases
haraya
by haraya  12-9-2006    4
Clipped 30/100, more at the source. These are the favorite lines that have entered into the everlasting human lexicon. The 70s are heavily represented (e.g. "Smile, you're on `Candid Camera'"). Saturday Night Live provided many favorites through the years (e.g."Well, isn't that special?", Dana Carvey as the Church Lady), but recent additions are relatively sparse — and somewhat lame — (e.g. "Bam!" from Emeril Lagasse, "Emeril Live"). A series of shows on TV Land will commemorate the list in mid-December. What TV pop culture quotes and catchphrases from the past do you think should have made the list? - Plastic.com
