POPS President above the law, Nominee for US Attorney General says
This warmongering White House just keeps unraveling our Constitution, our principle, our ideals, our society and our politics day after day. A common idea we use to have, for example, was that "No man is above the law." But apparently this nominee thinks the President is above the law. And the talk is still how he's suppose to be approved!? Screw him. Screw any politician who votes for him. Of course in the real world we all know that the rich, if not 'above the law,' normally have a 'better,' law, better results with the law, better lawyers, special consideration. So too big names, celebrities, Hollywood stars. Most of US prisons, for example, are overpopulated with the poor, the least educated and the minorities. (The USA has the biggest prison populations in the world, BTW, by %) The audaciousness of these warmongers. Theyshoot you in the face and expect/get the victim to apologize for being there (a Cheney factual example). Well...no longer a good country. Hopefully

POPSEthics Rebellion in Psychology The votes on a resolution — by the psychology faculties at Earlham, Guilford and Smith Colleges — are an unusually public effort by departments to criticize collectively a key decision by their national association. A number of other departments are considering similar moves. Good for Earlham, Guilford, and Smith.

POPSWhat's wrong with Alaska's election? Despite a record-setting early vote throng, the overall participation supposedly decreased by 11% - the lowest participation by Alaskans in any presidential race ever! How could that be? Further, polls turned out way wrong, only here. Pre election polls had both Mark Begich-D and Ethan Berkowitz-D solidly beating incumbents Senator Ted Stevens and Congressman Don Young by at least 6-10 points. Stevens is currently ahead by 3,353 votes with 49,000 ballots left to count. Berkowitz, however, is behind by 16,887 votes; a 51-43 margin.

POPSSocial media: Social Approximity? Now that bit about the telegraph may be a bit out of dot dot dash date, so simply substitute in "social media" for telegraph and you're back in the present tense. Social media are a recontextualization of old print forms and contents within a new distribution and communication framework (social web). It's not surprising that so many of our social practices (tools and uses) echo, if not amplify, their old media (broadcast) forebears: celebrity, self-promotion, news, anchoring, commentary, top tens, ratings, rankings, and polls (diggs, votes).

POPSRepublican Confesses: "How I Rigged an Election."
While Republicans on the news -- and their trolls now here at clipmarks -- a full time once again trying to suppress the vote with false charges of voter fraud and by trying to put minority and poor advocates out of the voter registration business... ...here's a FACT: This guy was arrested for Republican dirty tricks during the election. FACT. This guy went to jail for a real Republican sponsored election tampering. The Republican attacks against this group, ACORN...and their false attempts to link ACORN to Obama (as if Obama needs to do voter fraud...) --- all this has been done before and is the Classic method of Republican voter suppression. They started doing this seriously real bad from the year 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, now; and they intend to continue this for years forward. So when you hear the lies about ACORN today; I hope you will also consider the FACT of Republican voter dirty tricks that is documented here, and proved by this guy going to jail.

POPSPowell: Palin is not ready for the job "I don't believe she's ready to be president of the United States, which is the job of the vice president," Powell said. Said McCain's choice of Palin was a turning point in his decision to endorse Obama.
