POPSDemocracy? cacophony? Internet poses new questions "If it all sounds like the cacophony of the Internet, or a busy commercial street on rush hour, is creeping into offline media outlets, saysme.tv’s chief executive, Lisa Eisenpresser, pleads guilty, only she prefers other words: democracy, marketplace of ideas." "Of course, there is still the freedom to cover your ears." With all that advancement, what i am missing is a serious question that one should ask himself, what is the worth of what i have to say?

POPSPickens Gives New Meaning To Self-Government
At Pickens’ behest, the Texas legislature changed state law to allow the two residents of an 8-acre parcel of land in Roberts County to vote to create a municipal water district, a government agency with eminent domain powers. Who were the voters? They were Pickens’ wife and the manager of Pickens’ nearby ranch. And who sits on the board of directors of this water district? They are the parcel’s three other non-resident landowners, all Pickens’ employees. What’s this got to do with Pickens’ wind-power plan? Just as he needs pipelines to sell his water, he also needs transmission lines to sell his wind-generated power. Rights of way for transmission lines are also acquired through eminent domain -- and, once again, the Texas legislature has come to Pickens’ aid. Earlier this year, Texas changed its law to allow renewable energy projects (like Pickens’ wind farm) to obtain rights-of-way by piggybacking on a water district’s eminent domain power.

POPS"Late Night" Successor Will Debut On The Web So many "viewers" of late night TV actually catch clips of the shows via youtube or other video services in the days following broadcast. So launching a new late night host this way makes a lot of sense.

You'll see a large collection of Web applications and tech sites, excellent blogs, offbeat social networks, and, as always, a handful of addictive Flash games for those slow days at work. Some of these sites are completely under the radar and get very little traffic. Others are hugely popular within a specific demographic. But all of them deserve to be in your bookmarks.

POPSIs Google Making Us Stupid?
Does surfing the Internet trigger attention deficit disorder in our brains, so that we have to struggle to focus enough to read in depth or for longer than a couple of minutes at a time? Must we flip through the Internet as quickly as some people flip through TV channels, afraid, or unable, to pause long enough to read more than a few paragraphs--if that much? The author of this article (which you should read in its entirety if you can concentrate that long) relates how difficult he found it to sit down and read a book again, and notes: "In an era in which everyone has a truth and the means to fling it around the world, an era in which knowledge is increasingly broad but seldom deep, maybe that's the ultimate act of sedition: to pick up a single book and read it." I still read books, but not as many as I used to prior to being caught up in the world wide web life. Lately I haven't even read the free e-book that I receive in emailed installments. Blame it on Google-- :?

POPSPlan to Kill Current Internet by 2012, Enter Internet 2 It's documented, it's true, free and open internet will be killed. This is consistent with what Lieberman has been calling for on a small and temporary scale to censor. This will transform the open internet into the MSM internet, controlling the medium entirely. It is all about CONTROL on a global scale in an Orwellian mode of Newspeak.

POPSWhy Your Electric Bill Is So High You know those little black power supply boxes that sit on the cord between your gizmos and the outlet? Those things suck up power even when the device isn't in use, and that drain can add up. It's a good idea to put all your consoles on a power strip and shut them off at the source when you're not using them -- why pay all that money to fuel a device you're not enjoying?
