POPSDoes the Full Moon Really Make People Crazy? "So if you're feeling a little mischievous tonight, it might be the full moon. Or it might just be the fact that you read some sensationalistic articles about how the full moon affects people's behavior." ;-)

POPSHumor for adults and Cosmic Banditos This is a great site for many reasons. To get it in its whole , its a good idea to go find the Book Cosmic Banditos. This is the humor page. There is much more here though, and submissions are accepted if your perceptions have been properly enlightened. If your religious, easily startled, offended then dont bother, otherwise enjoy the best site on the web for weirdness. This site may be run by Hunter S Thompson's ghost.

POPSTHE ANOMALIST I found this site while perusing lynn's links. please forgive typos and punvtuation as i am recovering from carpal tunnel surgery on lft hand early on Friday. I am rt handed but i have a left hand usually making 7 out of 10 key strokes. Hunt & peck is not easy for me and they still have to operate on rt hand. Please bear with me but I found this site to be extremely in my range of collecting curiosities and high weirdness as Kenneth Hite calls it and if you have never had the luxury you should take a look at his live journal site. http://princeofcairo.livejournal.com/ I gurantee you will come to love his wonderful take on all things conspiratorial, Fortean, high weirdness, and secret history. it fuels my Muse for days at a time. i really do wish i could have done the Anomalist justice but give it a look, you may be surprised!

POPSSerotoninrain: what a blog should be I discovered this blog, more or less, when I first discovered blogs. blogging, and the social web in general, about two years ago. It has remained one of my very favorite blogs for reasons I've frankly never quite understood. It's just little daily glimpses into the mind and life of a smart, reflective, and interesting guy. He writes about his job, what he's reading, cooking, his family, and random weirdness that comes over the wires, including -- I'm not sure how he found them -- yours truly's clips. (That's not why I like his blog though.) Anyhow, all you aspiring bloggers, read this guy. This has sort of become the paradigmatic blog for me: short, frequent posts; a wide variety of subjects; fluid, interesting writing; and a very personal and reflective style. Having tried this with a couple abortive blogs, I also have an idea how difficult it is to sustain. Keep it up, Jim, and I'm awfully sorry about Fig.

POPS24 Unforgettable Advertisements Just another set of weirdness that we human beings do to get attention. Marked Mature for the PETA ad as I will err on the side of caution... The Giant Prop ads remind me of the old TV shows and the movies of the 30s and 40s where they were very common... My favorite? The Mini Cooper ad... Priceless!

POPSWar on Christmas I'm considering a tree based on Dante. The lower branches could really be interesting in their ornamentation. Now that's a tree that would be interesting to decorate.

POPSNYC's Forgotten Subway Though the story does not go into deeper detail if you go a few levels deeper than the pneumatic tube is, you will find a 19th Century luxury station beneath Upper Manhattan. This station and the trains that were driven through it were built by the Highest of High Society Members.. The Vanderbilts, the Astors, the Rockerfellers, and so on.. It was their own private train and station for their trips to Central Park and the exclusive shopping and banking centers. It was decommissioned only a few short months later as the coal burning engines of the day caused too much pollution underground for the blue bloods breathing.

POPSWhy are UFO Sightings Up in Ontario? Weirdness! I'm starting to wonder about my choice of provinces to live in! According to this article there are very few UFO sightings reported in the other provinces. Should I invest in aluminum foil for my windows and headgear? :? :D

POPSNew Creationist Museum to open "Meanwhile a remarkable fossil of a perch devouring a herring found in Wyoming offers “silent testimony to God’s worldwide judgment,” not because it shows a predator and prey, but because the two perished — somehow getting preserved in stone — during Noah’s flood." The fish... drowned?

POPSBlackbeard (S9 Biography)
The Scourge of the Spanish Main and the last Great Pirate of the Age of Sail (Jean LaFitte was a smuggler) Blackbeard's life is shrouded in myth and legend and facts about him are verd hard to verify 300 years later. Edward Teach or possibly Thatch, was famous for several things that are documented and reek of the strange and as Kenneth Hite says, High Weirdness. He would drink a mixture of gunpowder and rum set aflame... Talk about a Belch you do not want to be around. He tied "slow matches" (used for lighting cannons) into his hair and beard so there would be a wreath of smoke around his head. He shot his best friend and first mate, Israel Hands in the knee, crippling him for life just a day before his death at Okecroake Island off NC. When Israel asked why, Teach said he was saving his life! (Knew about his own death? Planned it himself?) Weirdest Fact: Held Charleston, SC hostage for several weeks until his ransom was paid - a box of Native herbs and Tobacco... See what I

POPSWeird natural detonations Reading about the exploding ants and frogs was interesting too...but this about calm lakes..."limnic eruption. To get one you need a few basic elements: - one, a very deep volcanic lake; - two, said lake has to be over a slow source of volcanic gas; - and three, it has to be very, very still." Eerie!

POPSFeeling insecure and rich? Hire a MySpace consultant I clipped this for sheer weirdness value. It was on Netscape.com and Reddit. The site now seems to be swamped. This is the cached version. This is the line that really got me. A mother comments that this consultant's services help her daughter stay "focused": “My daughter is so proud of her webpages” says the mother of one of her clients. “Without Michelle she couldn't focus on her popularity” Then there's this: “What's in can change so quickly” says Mich, “it's important the pages reflect these changes ASAP”.

POPSThe Web's Greatest Links Page Part I (Websites) I saw someone just post the name and the url but none of the sites that it links to, I thought I could do it a little more justice. These are not even a miniscule accounting of the Websites that this page links to. Truly something for everybody. The second part is web blogs...

POPSWorse, or worser This cartoonist is usually quite clueless, but it's a sign of the weirdness of the times that even a right-wing nutjob can be right some of the time. Which is the better choice? Golden Parachutes or Depression?

POPSInteresting facts about the White House Who was the White House’s strangest guest? Roger Clinton and Billy Carter put together probably couldn’t top the weirdness of Winston Churchill’s 1941 visit to the White House. Churchill stayed for 24 days, wore a one-piece jumpsuit most of the time and was often found lounging in the nude by servants who went to his room to serve him brandy.
