POPSRussians with pumpkins protest many U.S. plots Conspiracy theorist run amok. Claiming the U.S. is responsible for WW1 and WW2 so that the American economy could overtake Europe's economy. Farfetched? Likely. Carried out Sept 11 attacks to broaden government powers and planned to brand every person on the planet with the "mark of the beast," as referenced in the Bible. Farfetched? Probably, but not out of the realm of possibility. I agree the U.S. is over-zealous in pushing its idea of democracy onto everyone else. And the cowboy-like demeanor of the Bush/Cheney neocons point to visions of world dominance, but they don't speak for all of us. What we need to take away from this report is that American arrogance needs to be curtailed. We don't want to live an "us vs them" existence. Hopefully the new incoming administration can repair the damage that foreign relations have suffered these past several years.

POPSPolish WW2 War Criminal Escapes to Israel He was a member of the State Security and the commandant of the Stalinist-era concentration camp Zgoda in Świętochłowice, Poland. Of 6,000 inmates that he was responsible for, that 1,695 people died under him "by deliberately giving low food rations, systematically torturing and mistreating prisoners, and failing to take sanitary precautions." Zgoda camp was set up by the Soviet NKVD, the forerunner of the KGB , after the Red Army entered southern Poland. The camp was later handed over to the Communist Polish secret service, the notorious Urząd Bezpieczeństwa. In March 1945, Morel became a chief of the labour camp.

Nowadays the USA is the only country where an association called Veterans of Underage Military Service (VUMS) exists. It was formed in 1991." "Buckles enlisted in the American army at age 16 in 1917. During his summer vacation from school he went to the Marine Corps recruiting office to enlist, told them he was 21, but he was turned down: too small. He tried the Navy: too flatfooted. He then went to the Army and they accepted him. "The old sergeant advised me that the Ambulance Service was the quickest way to get to France because the French were begging for ambulance services". In France he served at several locations. After Armistice Day he was assigned to a POW escort company to return prisoners back to Germany. In WW2 while working in the Philippines, the Japanese army seized him and he stayed in a POW camp for more than 3 years.

In 1947, the U.S. charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for waterboarding a U.S. civilian. Asano was sentenced to 15 years of hard labor. "'All of these trials elicited compelling descriptions of water torture from its victims, and resulted in severe punishment for its perpetrators,' writes Evan Wallach in the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law." Begs the question. How could he be charged in WW2 with the WAR CRIME of waterboarding? The recipient was a civilian seemed to be the point? Well so are the detainees in Guantanamo Bay. If there were POWs then it would NOT be a WAR CRIME but as Bush says they are not POWs then it is a WAR CRIME.
