POPSXbox Live voting registration Interesting, at first glance i thought that youth would be able actually vote in the election though Xbox live. Registration is a step in that driection.

POPSWhy Your Electric Bill Is So High You know those little black power supply boxes that sit on the cord between your gizmos and the outlet? Those things suck up power even when the device isn't in use, and that drain can add up. It's a good idea to put all your consoles on a power strip and shut them off at the source when you're not using them -- why pay all that money to fuel a device you're not enjoying?

POPSMicrosoft says screw the Long Tail Way to go Microsoft. The whole point of the digital distribution era is it affords content makers the opportunity to sell their content without worrying about mass appeal (Long Tail economics). Microsoft is now eviscerating its digital distribution platform, Xbox Live Arcade, in favor of digitally stocking "good" games (and thereby deleting unpopular ones from its catalog). While the idea isn't unsound if Microsoft wants to build a robust library, it certainly goes against the entire grain of the digital age.

POPSBlu-Ray Coming To Xbox 360 Soon? This looks promising. Engadget is reporting that Sony is "in talks" with Microsoft and Apple about putting Blu-ray players in Xbox 360s, and presumably Macbooks.

POPSThe Wii whips the competition From the moment I heard Shigeru Miyamoto describe the concept behind the Wii (then codenamed Revolution) I knew they'd have a hit on their hands if they got it right. I got mine last Christmas, and they're still selling so fast Nintendo can't keep them on shelves - it's an amazing system, and they're redefining the whole market by creating a new class of "casual gamers". My parents, in-laws, and even my grandmother have played and love the Wii.

POPSUbisoft's Q1 Sales Soar 90.5% Things continue to go quite well for Ubisoft. Today the French publisher announced sales that almost doubled last year's Q1 results. With a great Q1 and a positive E3 showing ("one of the best line-ups in the industry"), Ubisoft has also raised its full year forecast. More within...

POPSWill the Wii Be a Set-Top Box? We like remarks, however vague, that Nintendo plans to get its online act together. If Nintendo can improve upon Microsoft's Xbox 360 media capabilities, then perhaps someday Wii owners will have a better way to watch YouTube videos on their big-screen TVs than through the Wii's web browser (trust me, it looks terrible). For now, here are some other ways to get video content delivered to your TV: http://www.forbes.com/technology/2007/11/26/digital-TV-video-personal-tech-cx_rr_1122livingroom_slide.html

POPSOrange Box's Portal for the Nintendo Wii? I hope it comes to the wii. Portal is a great game already, and with the added bonus of the possibility of braking the tv because you throw the remote when being attacked by a turret, it will be awesome!

POPSHalo 3 Hits $300 Million Everyone knew Halo 3 would be a big hit, but these numbers are really stellar. If the sales hold up, this carries Microsoft a long way towards catching up with the Nintendo Wii -- and towards meeting their promise that the Xbox division of the company would turn a profit this year.

POPSGuitar Hero - "Rock Band" Jamming Follow-Up My kids and grands love this game. It is great to sit back and listen to them recreating the old classic rock numbers (if you are pushing the correct colored buttons and "strumming") ... and with this new game I'll get to sing!
