Rape: 'They looted my body like I was dead'

"They kicked my breasts, which are still badly swollen. They took me to a graveyard and raped me again. When I was trying to stop them, they took a hot wire and burned my hand. They looted my body like I was dead. They took my ID card and all my money."

Very Sobering Images of the World Today

Do not look at these if you are upset real easily, because they are awful, but they are real of what's going on round the world today. Still absolutely shocking though, it should't be going on anymore! Their is enough money in the world to stop this!

Why we stand in line to vote - a historical photo essay
Lexica
by Lexica  11-4-2008    6
Over the last few days when looking at the photographs of people standing in line at early voting sites across the country, I've been reminded of so many pictures I've seen of election lines before - lines of voters from throughout the world, voters who have had to fight for the fundamental right to vote, voters for whom standing in line is perhaps the easiest part of everything they've had to do to bring about change. … So when I think about whether we'll have to wait in long lines on Tuesday, I'm not intimidated. I know that we won't be standing in those lines alone, we'll be accompanied by the history of millions of people a whole lot braver and tougher than we'll ever need to be to stay in line for a few hours.

40% of Zimbabweans mentally ill
michellezm
by michellezm  8-24-2007    3
And our fearless leader Thabo Mbeki said last week that the ills of Zimbabwe are greatly exaggerated. (This despite the fact that our auithorities cannot stop the border rush as thousands of Zimbabweans cross illegally into South Africa every day) But please note, this is the same man who claims that HIV does NOT cause AIDS - this as South Africans are dropping like flies from the disease. Sometimes I wonder whether there are any sane people living in sub-Saharan Africa. Oy!!!!!

Will he make it back to Zimbabwe? If he pulls this ploy off then he doesn't need electing. He either has the hardest 'balls' or the softest brain! This has to be part of an end play or I'm a dodo. Where is his next stop? Saudi Arabia, Amin's refuge? Bush's ranch, with all the other criminals of the last 8 years? Any advances?

MAJORITY WOULD DIE BEFORE THE AGE OF FIVE
Sorgalim
by Sorgalim  3-14-2007    4
It is difficult for a woman to know that she will have a sick child...I can't understand...They don't have enough help, then why having more babies?...Please, if I'm wrong, tell me because each time that I read this things makes me sad...The article says that mother to child transmission programmes have been slow to get off the ground in sub-Saharan Africa. Half a million babies are estimated to have been infected with HIV at birth or during breastfeeding last year alone. The Zimbabwe study suggests as many as one in four may survive into adolescence. One of the main public health messages, she said, was the need to prevent infection from mother to child during birth and breastfeeding The baby can be protected, but relatively few pregnant women with HIV are offered the chance to protect their baby.

Fight for Human Rights Continues in Burma
spirithiker
by spirithiker  11-1-2008    4
This monk has dedicated his life to attaining something we in America take for granted: Democracy and basic human rights. The U.S. claims to be a stalwart of human rights and yet allows human rights atrocities to continue in Burma, Zimbabwe, Tibet, etc. and even writes its laws to allow a U.S.-based corporation to profit from it. Chevron, based in California, has been making huge profits in Burma as part owner of a natural gas project. U.S. sanctions prevent most U.S. companies from working in Burma, but Chevron's investment there existed before the sanctions were imposed and continues under a grandfather clause. This man, and many others, is willing to die to gain freedom for his fellow countrymen. Chevron and the U.S. is willing to let him die at the hands of a tortuous dictatorial regime in order to make a profit. How is this any different than the terrorism the U.S. is creating in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Castrated U.S. Media Remains Obediently Silent On Bilderberg
papananook
by papananook  6-10-2008    8
David Rockefeller, Henry Kissinger, the secretary general of NATO, CEO’s of the world’s biggest corporations, U.S. politicians and European royalty were all there in Chantilly, but the U.S. media failed to show and did not even mention that the meeting was taking place, despite Bilderberg themselves issuing a press release! Central Bilderberg member David Rockefeller’s infamous quote about the castrated U.S. media and its sycophantic support for Bilderberg’s agenda has never been more prescient. “We are grateful to the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the light of publicity during those years. But now the world is more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government." Rockefeller can thank the ideological pros

michellezm

Is anyone surprised. Just another post-colonial African country utterly destroyed by an insane man who stripped away all white-owned farms and in the process destroyed an entire country. More frightening for white South Africans is that our president, Mbeki, has not opened his mouth once in condemnation of Mugabe. Instead he globe-trots as thousands of Zimbabwe refugees flood our country every day. Zenaphobia(sic) is rife as many Zimbabweans, Mocambiqueans, Somali, Nigerians and Ethiopians are being murdered by our local black people who see the influx of foreigners as a direct threat to their own livelihoods. Mbeki, is South Africa's Mugabe of the future. You Americans are not the only ones with a fool for a president.
