Die EU-Kommission will die Situation von Flüchtlingen und Asylbewerbern verbessern und schlägt ein Bleiberecht vor: Wer mindestens fünf Jahre legal in einem Land der Europäischen Union gelebt hat, soll nicht zurückgeschickt werden.

Die Kommission will mit dem heute präsentierten Gesetzesvorschlag an die EU-Staaten die Diskriminierung von Flüchtlingen beseitigen, denn für andere Menschen aus Nicht-EU-Ländern gilt das Bleiberecht bereits. Zudem werde dadurch die vollständige Integration von Flüchtlingen verbessert, argumentiert die Kommission. Der Gesetzesvorschlag ist Teil eines umfassenden Pakets zur EU-Asylpolitik.
