KULIM, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Having clarified several grassroot level issues involving the Indian community, MIC is confident of retaining the party's two state seats in Kedah.
State MIC deputy chairman Datuk S. Ganeson, who is also Lunas State Assemblyman, believed that the Indian community would continue to support the Barisan Nasional (BN).
He said the party was confident of retaining the Lunas and Bukit Selambau state seats, while admitting that some Indian voters supported the opposition.
State MIC chairman Datuk V. Saravanan is the Bukit Selambau Assemblyman.
Kedah has 53,023 Indian voters, of the total 877,934 registered voters.
He said the two main issues concerning the Indian community in Kedah hinged on Tamil schools and opportunities for further studies.
