Party favors with a conscience: Instead of spending money on bags of Jordan almonds and pencils and notepads emblazoned with the newlyweds' names, some couples are opting instead to donate to a charity in the wedding guests' honor.

The personal touch: Couples are sharing interesting tidbits of biographical information about themselves with their guests. For example, the wedding program may include brief bios about the bride and groom. Or instead of table numbers at the reception, each table may be named after a particular flower or significant dates in the newlywed's lives.
