SEREMBAN: Jeram Padang assemblyman Datuk Dr L. Krishnan will not be defending his seat in the coming general election.
The Negri Sembilan deputy MIC chairman said he had conveyed this to party president Datuk Seri S, Samy Vellu and state MIC chief Datuk T. Rajagopalu recently.
“I am already 60 and it is time to give way to younger leaders,” said the father of three.
“I am also giving way as I wish to pursue my studies in family medicine.”
Dr Krishnan first contested and won the Telok Kemang parliamentary seat in 1995.
He did not contest in 1999 but made a comeback in 2004 when he defeated S. Rajagopal from Parti Keadilan Rakyat with a 4,102 majority to win in Jeram Padang.
