POPSConservatives At Odds With McCain But perhaps more importantly, he has long been an advocate of entitlement reform. He was early an ardent support of personal accounts for Social Security, and has pushed for serious Medicare reform, including means-testing. Almost alone among Republicans, he opposed the disastrous Medicare prescription drug benefit. "On domestic policy, he has shown a disturbing predilection for elevating every personal pet peeve, from steroids in baseball to airplane service quality, to a federal issue. And, he has embraced heavily regulatory environmental policies and compulsory national service. Like George W. Bush, he tends to support federal power over federalism, executive authority over legislative, and generally leans toward the imperial presidency. For believers in individual liberty and limited government, it's a decidedly mixed bag. But, then again, aren't they all?"

POPSPermanent Presence in Iraq - NPR story I woke up to this story at 5 am. I am disturbed by the implications that this treaty will have on our already over-worked over-stressed military. I hope that Rep. Bill Delahunt filibusters the crap out of this. I should not be surprised that they are trying to get this in before the election. What a f---ing piece of work this g.d. administration is? I feel sick. The more I listen to this story the more disturbed and sad I feel about the state of this nation. Can we just bump up the elections to now? Seriously. Before the Bush Administration really f---s us up. Using other language to hide the fact that it is a treaty and that the US will have a permanent presence in Iraq.

POPSIf it looks like a treaty.... sounds like a treaty, smells like a treaty, then calling is something else is a lie. Why am I surprised that the administration lying to the public once again and keeping their actions as vague and quiet as possible? WTF?????

POPSFred Thompson in Glimpses
Olbermann embarrasses the news business with his complete un-professionalism. "MessNBC" with their intentional audio inclusion of the unseen production crew, saw it acceptable to loudly razz an inspiring speech by Fred Thompson from So.Carolina early Saturday evening. K.O.along with Chris Matthews, come off like a pair of drop-outs sharing a 40 oz.'er and a joint - guys like Joe Scarborough have to be completely embarrassed having to appear with "The Most Disgusting News Fraud IN THE W-O-R-L-D! ! !" Matthews, having been relegated to sidekick to squinty-eyed Keith, asks the most absurd questions of each analyst and reporter that they don't even try to answer, wondering if he's actually even serious or not. There's nothing more disgusting than taking personalities like those two, making them feel self-important, and fueling that with alcohol. They are clearly drunk, resulting in a vulgar display of adolescent political analysis and childish disrespect for those that are the adult

POPSThe Iraqi's Won't Forget The Sacrifice Of The American's The number of U.S. troops in Iraq will reflect the status of Iraqi security forces, Dabbagh said. American troop presence in Iraq will diminish as Iraqi soldiers and police gain in numbers and capability, he noted. Dabbagh acknowledged the positive effects of the surge of forces in reducing insurgent-committed violence in and around the Iraq’s capital city and western regions. “With the improvement of the security situation in Baghdad and the west area and now even in Diyala (province), I think the level of the threat has been less now,” the Iraqi spokesman said. The improvement in security, he said, has bolstered hopes that Iraqi soldiers and police can begin taking more responsibility for security.

POPSBush commits troops to Iraq for the long term Bush has repeatedly overstepped his bounds as president, and it is up to WE THE PEOPLE to hold our government to a moral standard. Don't fool yourself thinking that Hillary or Obama would pull us out of Iraq, they are slaves to the special interests just like Bush. We need to restore our honor and integrity in this country by admitting our mistake, and getting out... NOW! Lets stop trying to force people to accept democracy, and embrace our own values as a constitutional republic. Restore the Constitution. Vote Ron Paul 2008. http://www.RonPaul2008.com
