POPS"Hate Speech" Hate speech codes are rules intended to ensure an atmosphere free from harassment and intimidation, conducive to a learning environment. In many countries, deliberate use of hate speech is a criminal offence prohibited under incitement to hatred legislation. We have free speech here, BUT you must also be responsible for your words. We also have another way of dealing with unsavoury types of people, like racists, bigots or those who hold other not-so-educated views. They are totally allowed to express their views (politely), but we "tier dem ihjel", meaning they can talk all they want, but we don't have to listen. They are shunned and we don't "entertain" them, or their views. It's like this, "If a racist stands in the middle of a forest and spews hate, and there's no one there to hear him, is he still a racist?" *LOL* They are "frozen out". If someone speaks trash, don't feed their hate. Don't entertain them at all. Just walk away and ignore them. It works.

POPSStupid White Pride Mike Lunsford is likely to be entertaining Secret Service agents. Large, Unamused Secret Service Agents. Their view of "protected speech" that might tend to endanger their assigned protectee and their personal safety is no doubt jaundiced. For myself, it's people like this that have made me reconsider my views toward "hate speech" legislation, as a civilized alternate to "The Fighting Words Doctrine."

POPSQuebec teen's YouTube videos draw Catholics' wrath First, you can't draw a cartoon of Mohammed, because Muslims take offense and now you can't mutilate a cookie, because Catholics think it's God. Believe any weird stuff you want, but don't force others to hold your religious symbols sacred!

POPSMcCain: Obama's not an Arab - he's decent! You can bet that will be heard around the world. Making peace with Arab nations just became harder. On the other hand, Arab-American voters (in the millions, and in swing states) just moved out of "undecided."

POPSReligious Hate Speech The view from one of the believers. If you care to wade through this drivel you will be entertained by a multitude of false assertions, straw men, and arguments from ignorance. The depth of illogic is stunning. It's sad that many people who read this sort of crap swallow it as readily as they do the dogma behind it.

POPSThe Right-Wing Solution Same-sex unions haven't undermined or destroyed the economy or the noble institution of marriage--it's straight people breaking their marriage vows. And I defy anyone to name one straight marriage that was broken up because of all those gay unions performed. So why have these homophobes failed to turn more Americans against gays? Because the truth is, deep down, most Americans are fair and tolerant people. This hate speech will eventually fail just like every other attempt at lasting discrimination in this country has eventually failed because--bottom line--when confronted with the basic choice of equality or inequality, the vast majority of Americans will choose equality. God Bless them.

POPSFree Speech A Casualty Of 'Hate' Powers
What had happened is that one of the chapters of Steyn's New York Times' (and for that matter Canadian) No1 bestseller America Alone had been excerpted and published by Canada's largest weekly magazine. The Canadian Islamic Congress, through the agency of three law students, brought complaints against Steyn and the magazine before the federal human rights commission, and also before two provincial ones. (That's another Orwellian aspect to all this; there is no rule against double, triple or any other multiple jeopardy, as there is no limit to how many complaints can be lodged before different tribunals for the same words.) Since then more has come out that makes these Canadian tribunals or commissions seem even more like kangaroo courts than they already did, which is saying an awful lot. The Canadian Human Rights Commission it would not go ahead with the Steyn prosecution (though the Canadian Islamic Congress has just indicated it will appeal that decision)

POPSUU Shooting Prima Facie HATE CRIME The hatespeech of far right-wingers inspired this mentally ill man to kill. It doesn't get any more obvious than that. It is a hate crime and it should be prosecuted as such.

POPSRights Commission Dismisses "Hate Speech" Complaint The ruling means the CHRC does not believe there is evidence to support a complaint that the Steyn article was "likely to expose" Muslims to hatred or contempt. Announcing the decision (the CHRC does not publicize dismissals of complaints), Maclean's said in a statement that it "is in keeping with our long-standing position that the article in question, "The Future Belongs to Islam," an excerpt from Mark Steyn's best-selling book America Alone, was a worthy piece of commentary on important geopolitical issues, entirely within the bounds of normal journalistic practice."

POPSNY To Back Same-Sex Unions From Elsewhere Look how far we have come as human beings! It wasn't so long ago that gays were reviled as "fags" or "queers" and homosexuality was considered, and treated as a psychological disorder and gays and lesbians did not dare admit their sexual orientation for fear of losing their jobs. Sure, some evangelical ministers will continue to denounce homosexuality from the pulpit and urge parishioners to join them in denying equal rights to gays and lesbians. And some poor misguided souls will blindly agree. But their hate speech will eventually fail because their crusade to treat gays and lesbians as second-class citizens is WRONG and the vast majority of Americans will choose equality every time.

POPSPlease Send More Complaints
Otherwise how will our taxpayer-funded hate police manage to keep their cozy sinecure? Happily, beginning on July 1, under Ontario's "human rights" reforms, Commissar Hall will have far greater powers to initiate prosecutions. Under the new proposals, " 'hate incident' means any act or omission, whether criminal or not, that expresses bias, prejudice, bigotry or contempt toward a vulnerable or disadvantaged community or its members." "Act or omission"? Of course. The act of not acting in an insufficiently non-hateful way can itself be hateful. Whether or not the incident is a non-incident is incidental. I quote from "Concepts Of Race And Racism And Implications For OHRC Policy" as published on the OHRC website: "The denial of racism used by so many whites in positions of authority ranging from the supervisor in a work place to the chief of Police and ministers of government must be understood for what it is: an example of White hegemonic power over those considered 'other.' POPSThe cycle of indoctrinating hate
"I wonder if it's ever occurred to Obama and Wright that it probably doesn't help young people in the black community when they're told that their country hates them, that the U.S. government gave them drugs and AIDS, and that jail and genocide are the officially-sanctioned plan for them." "The government gives them drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America,'" shouted Wright at his congregation. "No, no, no. God damn America. That's in the Bible, for killing innocent people. God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human. God damn America for as long as she acts like she is God and she is supreme." "I wonder if Obama ever considered the negative impact on young blacks from listening to these hateful and anti-white tirades. It's not as if Obama is blind to the influence of hate speech. When Don Imus made one careless remark about black female athletes, Obama was among the first to call for his firing."

POPSJust who's side is the UN on. You are damn right the movie is anti-Islamic. And rightly so. The people the movie condems are animals. It doesn't incite anyone to violence, except maybe the Islamics who are pissed off because of the cartoon of Mohammed. The UN Sec Gen is an idiot. It is obvious that he has not seen the movie. OH, it is filled with hate speech and incitements of people to violence but those things are all taken from radical Islamic media outlets and the hate speech and incitements to violence are directed at us not the other way around. Just go and watch it. It is only 15 minutes long and it will make you stomach turn what these people are capable of.

POPSAssaults on Freedom of Speech I understand this to mean that some actions of a wordly nature are construed as threats against the principles of free expression. I trust I offend nobody nor incite hatred or riot by this extremely partial and simple summary of 200 years of civilised debate.

POPSChristian Science Monitor on Reverend Wright - Did Obama's Pastor Preach Hate?
What people hear depends on their own experience and worldview, says Teresa Brown, who teaches the art of preaching at Emory U. in Atlanta. "I listen to 60 sermons a week by black and white pastors, you can find something in almost any one that is offensive to somebody." The key as to whether language is hate speech lies in a preacher's overall message, according to Martin Marty, of the University of Chicago Divinity School and renowned historian of religion. Dr. Marty, who has visited Trinity many times, says, "If Wright only had whites in his searchlight, you might call it . But he goes after the men in his church" about fatherhood, he puts himself and his people under the prophetic spotlight. "The black church took the distorted version of Christianity that provided the religious justification for slavery, carved out the racist elements ..and implanted new content that actually moved Christianity in this country closer to Jesus' message," says Dr. Braxton.

POPSThe Speech That Revealed So Much Wright's comments needed to be addressed for what they are, but instead, Obama embraced Wright as a symbol of the "black community." In addition, equating Wright's comments delivered to a modern-day audience with those of his 86-year-old grandmother is insulting. His grandmother came from a different era and was not at the pulpit or on video delivering hate speech. One final note... The really frustrating part of the speech, other than the words themselves, was some of the analysis that followed. All of the analysts on FOX News seemed to be like deer caught in the headlights of a "racial police" Hummer. They seemed afraid to say anything that could be perceived as offensive. HELLO!!!! The speech was so blatantly political and so easy to dissect and yet they let it pass. Obama made excuses for Wright and continued to play the race card. Yet he got a pass. That is pathetic.

POPS'I Don't Hate Muslims. I Hate Islam,' Says Holland's Rising Political Star
But he has nothing against Muslims. 'I have a problem with Islamic tradition, culture, ideology. Not with Muslim people.' Wilders has been immersing himself in the suras and verse of seventh-century Arabia. The outcome of his scholarship, a short film, has Holland in a panic. He is just putting the finishing touches to the 10-minute film, he says, and talking to four TV channels about screening it. 'It's like a walk through the Koran.' But he does want to create a stir. 'Islam is something we can't afford any more in the Netherlands. I want the fascist Koran banned. We need to stop the Islamisation of the Netherlands. That means no more mosques, no more Islamic schools, no more imams... Not all Muslims are terrorists, but almost all terrorists are Muslims.' Free speech or hate speech? 'I don't create hate. I want to be honest, I don't hate Muslims,I hate their book and their ideology.' 'I don't hate Muslims. I hate Islam,' says Wilders A courageous truth-teller
