POPSGreenpeace shifting focus to dialogue in anti-whaling campaign
Whaling is a barbaric murderous business and besides the moral implications of killing our friends, great beautiful, graceful, air-breathing, large-brained, socially sophisticated, singing, communicating animals, whaling is just contributing to the more dangerous human impact on killing the oceans. When we finish killing the oceans thru our pollutions and overfishing, we'll be dead. Brutal humanity is disgusting to some of us but not apparently to some here in this forum (Japan Today) and in Japan, Iceland and Norway. Thank the Sea Gods for Sea Shepherd and Capt. Paul Watson who will be In the Southern Ocean aboard the "Steve Irwin" to confront the Whalers again. I have no quarrel with Greenpeace, corporate PR is their forte and they have the $$ for it and they weren't all that effective stopping the whalers anyway, just taking pictures and grandstanding in style, which is OK--it brought some attention to whaling but I have much more respect for Capt. Watson and his dedicated crew in

POPS Obama's Summary Of Issues Agenda ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ who attacked us on 9/11~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ I am not reassured. And dare we ask - does Obama have a plan for finishing US involvement in Kosovo? Currently we are slated to be there for at least late 2009: Defense Chief Robert Gates Says Presence Still Important In Wake Of Russia-Georgia War (AP) The United States will continue its troop presence in Kosovo until at least late next year, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said just before he arrived here Tuesday, reaffirming U.S. support for the world's newest nation in the face of stern opposition from Russia. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/10/07/world/main4505480.shtml?source=RSSattr=HOME_4505480

POPSWhen Obama Met Bush, Posturing Caught
Flashing back in case you missed it. Obama's actions were very arrogant (even toward Bush) and presumptuous, which says a whole lot about the President elect. Confidence and arrogance are not the same thing. It is natural for one to defend their legitimate authority (Bush) and to treat the presumptuous with hints and reminders if they behave forwardly, especially when the "show is on" (cameras rolling). The power struggle was caught by the lens. Some are smiling more than others. Barack, who claims to be a Christian, shows bad manners here, for Jesus plainly taught about the humble patiently waiting to be "called up" toward the head of the table. Obama is not yet officially President, nor have the White House. This foreshadows a lot! Beware of the humble appearing leader as soon as he assumes power. Finish the proverb, "Absolute power corrupts...." No one in this article mentioned Michelle's "Diva red"--shoulders to toes--while Barack and Bush dressed almost identical.

POPSThe Deadly Game Of Gaming in 2005, after a 50-hour Starcraft session. All we can say is we hope he won. The man, identified only by his family name Lee, sat down to play the online battle simulation game Starcraft at an internet cafe in the southern city of Taegu last Wednesday morning and stayed there for the next three days, stopping only for brief naps or toilet breaks. South Korean newspapers reported that Lee had recently been fired from his job because he spent too much time playing computer games. When he failed to return home by Friday, however, his mother asked his former colleagues to find him. When they reached the cafe, Lee told his friends that he would finish the game and go home. He died a few minutes later. Computer games are enormously popular in South Korea and professional gamers can earn big money through sponsorships and television stations devoted to broadcasting matches. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article553840.ece

POPSBush's Republican Party in Full-Tilt Panic
Watching the elections has been like living in two different worlds: The world where Obama can draw a crowd of 100,000 (200,000 in Germany) and McCain is luck to get 20,000 folks to listen to him. The other world is on TV where the give both McCain and Obama equal time and each side says how well they're doing and how bad the other guy is. The TV also makes up issues that are not issues to no one but themselves and chews and chews on them for weeks: The so-called 'Bradley Effects,' is one of them. Now the race has come down to the Finish Line and Bush's Republicans see point-blank in front of their faces how great their losses will be tomorrow, and no TV chat is going to change anything. From the beginning many people saw this was in the cards; A few million and myself, too. 8 years of the Bush nightmare were suddenly going to be forgotten. The real tough race was the primary of Obama vs. Hilary Clinton. That was a close call. But now, it's not a close call; it's a

POPSRestoring Felon Voting Rights Reintigrating into society is advanced by granting the right to vote to those who finish prison sentences. I'd be willing to wait for x number of months after getting out of prison before felons got the franchise restored.
