POPSHunger on The Increase in the USA One of the biggest myths about the USA is that it's a land of plenty enjoyed by all. But last year 36 million Americans went hungry without access to food. Many of them were children. Yet during the last 7 years the wealthiest among us knew enormous economic growth. Those who thought that the Lord of the manor was disposed to throw the remains of the meal to the serfs were kidding themselves. When possible they will consume every last morsel. Trickle down economics is a mere talking point when in fact the spigot is mostly turned off.

POPS“How to Think Like Leonardo da Vinci” " Like Edison, who built new innovations on top of previous inventions, innovative leaders never declare an invention “done,” Mr. Axelrod says. “Everything ultimately became the source of something new later,” he says. “It’s like the difference between a rich person and a wealthy person. A rich person has a lot of money and buys things. A wealthy person invests in things that make more money. It’s creating ongoing wealth out of your intellectual capital.”

POPSMaricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's War On The Leftist Media The Republic used to be a middle of the road newspaper until Keven Willey became editorial page editor in 1998. Under her lead, the paper took a hard turn to the left. Willey left in 2002 to become editorial page editor of the Dallas Morning News. That newspaper has had a steep decline in circulation throughout Willey's tenure, most recently decreasing 11.7% since 2007. At the same time the Republic began declining, a right-leaning blog called espressopundit.com emerged and devoted considerable coverage to the Republic's demise. Blog owner Greg Patterson had access to inside information, revealing in advance layoffs and other shakeups at the paper, accompanied by photographs of a sinking ship.

POPSI'm the sheriff, I can do what I want Haidl told jurors he and Carona made an initial list of 86 people — friends, family and contributors to Carona — who should become reserves. In 2001, a state commission decertified 86 reserves because of a lack of training and failure to pass background checks. It was unclear Friday whether that group was the same 86 mentioned in Haidl’s testimony. Haidl had earlier testified that he and Carona wanted to expand the program to 1,000 people, and that they wanted reservists to be mostly professionals who could donate a total of $1 million to Carona’s future campaign coffers

POPSThe Obama "Alinskyite" Realignment Watch what Michael Barone called the Obama "thugocracy" use the Justice Department to stifle dissent. Anybody who complains about vote fraud will be charged with "vote suppression." Anybody who complains about DoJ's actions will be charged with interfering with an investigation. Anybody who denies having interfered will be charged with perjury. Likewise, anybody who peacefully protests abortion clinics or the use of state-sponsored racial quotas will be charged with a civil rights violation. And the accused won't be able to look to the Supreme Court for help: Anthony Kennedy's "evolving standards" of justice will evolve to match the new zeitgeist, providing a 5-4 majority for the administration. Meanwhile, of course, Obama's other appointments will be filling up the rest of the judiciary at a rapid clip, with nobody able to stop them.

POPSOctober Surprise ~ 14 Inches Of Snow Fell At High Point State Park
To continue passing legislation to reduce the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) or other “greenhouse gases” isn’t just stupid, it is lethal. What people are going to need more of is the energy to heat their homes and workplaces. Thwarting the building of more coal-fired or nuclear plants to generate electricity is suicidal. That is, however, exactly what Congress intends to do and we can anticipate blizzard of legislation, instituting “cap-and-trade” requirements, increases in ethanol requirements, and a host of other poisonous legislation that will severely handicap any recovery from the current financial crisis and inflict a host of allegedly “unintended” consequences. One of those consequences were the food riots that occurred earlier this year around the world when the price of corn rose in response to U.S. mandates that ethanol be used along with gasoline. Proposed increases in such ethanol use will require engineering changes in new automobiles . . . .

POPSAllies Of Palestinians See A Friend In Barack Obama And yet the warm embrace Obama gave to Khalidi, and words like those at the professor's going-away party, have left some Palestinian American leaders believing that Obama is more receptive to their viewpoint than he is willing to say. Among other community events, Obama in 1998 attended a speech by Edward Said, the late Columbia University professor and a leading intellectual in the Palestinian movement. According to a news account of the speech, Said called that day for a nonviolent campaign "against settlements, against Israeli apartheid." The use of such language to describe Israel's policies has drawn vehement objection from Israel's defenders in the United States. A photo on the pro-Palestinian website the Electronic Intifada shows Obama and his wife, Michelle, engaged in conversation at the dinner table with Said, and later listening to Said's keynote address.

POPSThe Ignored Slaughter Sporadic snippets are all we get here in the US. This is not considered news worthy. We'd rather focus on how much a candidate for VP spends on clothes or if the leading candidate is Marxist. How did our priorities become so screwed up?
