POPSOld Obama Interview "...in my own public policy, I'm very suspicious of religious certainty expressing itself in politics....that's different form a belief that values have to inform our public policy. I think it's perfectly consistent to say that I want my government to be operating for all faiths and all peoples, including atheists and agnostics, while also insisting that there are values that inform my politics that are appropriate to talk about."

POPSWhat's wrong with Alaska's election? Despite a record-setting early vote throng, the overall participation supposedly decreased by 11% - the lowest participation by Alaskans in any presidential race ever! How could that be? Further, polls turned out way wrong, only here. Pre election polls had both Mark Begich-D and Ethan Berkowitz-D solidly beating incumbents Senator Ted Stevens and Congressman Don Young by at least 6-10 points. Stevens is currently ahead by 3,353 votes with 49,000 ballots left to count. Berkowitz, however, is behind by 16,887 votes; a 51-43 margin.

POPSRepublican Confesses: "How I Rigged an Election."
While Republicans on the news -- and their trolls now here at clipmarks -- a full time once again trying to suppress the vote with false charges of voter fraud and by trying to put minority and poor advocates out of the voter registration business... ...here's a FACT: This guy was arrested for Republican dirty tricks during the election. FACT. This guy went to jail for a real Republican sponsored election tampering. The Republican attacks against this group, ACORN...and their false attempts to link ACORN to Obama (as if Obama needs to do voter fraud...) --- all this has been done before and is the Classic method of Republican voter suppression. They started doing this seriously real bad from the year 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, now; and they intend to continue this for years forward. So when you hear the lies about ACORN today; I hope you will also consider the FACT of Republican voter dirty tricks that is documented here, and proved by this guy going to jail.

POPSThe Man Behind the Anti-Obama Hate Fest He prepared to run as a Democrat for Congress in Connecticut, where paperwork for one of his campaign committees listed as one purpose “to exterminate Jew power.” He ran as a Republican for the Florida State Senate and the United States Senate in Illinois. When running for president in 1999, he aired a television advertisement in New Hampshire that accused George W. Bush of using cocaine. A motion he filed in a 1983 bankruptcy case called the judge “a crooked, slimy Jew who has a history of lying and thieving common to members of his race.”

POPSFollow The Money $625,000. Other People's Money. Senator Obama and his wife, Michelle, purchased a $1.65 million Georgian revival mansion in Chicago, where they now reside. While wealthy Syrian-born Chicago slumlord Tony Rezko was already known to be under federal investigation, the senator approached Mr. Rezko about purchasing the two adjoining properties, then toured the home with Mr. Rezko (now a convicted felon on those charges). Soon after Senator Obama bought the mansion for $300,000 less than the asking price. On the same day, Mr. Rezko's wife purchased the adjoining vacant lot for the full asking price of $625,000. $75,000. Other People's Money. Senator Obama served as a paid director to a "progressive" Chicago-area non-profit organization, the Woods Fund, from 1999 until almost 2003. William C. Ayers -- who, despite the senator's protestations to the contrary, is a long-time friend and political ally

POPSMAKING IT: How Chicago Shaped Obama. There was also a more general belief that, after Obama won the 2004 United States Senate primary, he ignored his South Side base. Preckwinkle said, “My view is you have to bring your constituency along with you. Granted, you have to make some tough decisions. Granted, sometimes you have to make decisions that people won’t understand or like. But it’s your obligation to explain yourself and try to do your supporters the courtesy of treating them with respect.” Ivory Mitchell, who for twenty years has been the chairman of the local ward organization in Obama’s neighborhood—considered the most important Democratic organization on the South Side—was one of Obama’s earliest backers. Today, he says, “All the work we did to help him get where he finally ended up, he didn’t seem too appreciative.” A year ago, Mitchell became a delegate for Hillary Clinton. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/21/080721fa_fact_lizza?printable=true

POPSFreedom Rider: Obama's Iraq "Fairy Tale"
The latest case of buyer’s remorse concerns Obama’s statements about his plan to visit Iraq in the near future. “I’ve always said that the pace of withdrawal would be dictated by the safety and security of our troops and the need to maintain stability. That assessment has not changed. And when I go to Iraq and have a chance to talk to some of the commanders on the ground, I’m sure I’ll have more information and will continue to refine my policies.” It may be helpful to take a trip down memory lane and fully dissect the fairy tale of the anti-war candidate. In 2004 Senate candidate Barack Obama did not brag about being against the occupation of Iraq e was far more circumspect, criticizing president Bush only for badly managing a war of aggression, and emphasizing that he was not that much different. "There's not that much difference between my position and George Bush's position at this stage. The difference, in my mind, is who's in a position to execute."

POPSWaiting For The Shoe To Drop: UPDate Only ugly ambition would expose someone’s personal life like that. But Obama skated to win in a US Senate seat Illinois as the GOP tried to transport in a candidate from Maryland in the form of Alan Keyes. Barack may have quit his church but his religious problems are not over. Barack Obama has a Nation of Islam problem that will receive more attention in the coming days. Before Barack came on the scene, THE MAN in his political district was Louis Farrakhan. No one could take Alice Palmer’s seat without Farrakhan’s blessing. No one. I do not fault Barack Obama for seeking out the blessing of Farrakhan, but the story of what was done behind the scenes to get rid of Barack’s predecessor—Alice Palmer—has not been told. A knowledgeable source tells me that Tony Rezko played a direct role in this feat. And Rezko has been tight with Farrakhan.

POPSGingrich warns Republicans of "catastrophic election" Time for a fresh start. May I suggest these sure-fire strategies: TAX CUTS! Blame BIG GUBMINT. Pitch TRICKLE DOWN. How 'bout that WAR ON TARA? How 'bout WE WON'T DO ANYTHING ON HEALTHCARE? Or WE WON'T TALK ABOUT RACE. If those don't bring us to our senses, bring out the deep stuff: WRIGHT! ELITIST! SOCIALIZED MEDICINE! LIBBRUL! Oh my, he's right. All the milk's gone sour.

POPSThe Reform Institute Is McCain's Achilles Heel McCain, long a proponent of a la carte pricing, urged federal regulators in May 2004 to support the idea, quoting Dolan's testimony before the Commerce Committee in May 2003. McCain denied there was any conflict of interest. Federal campaign records examined by U.S. News show that Cablevision Systems' pac gave $10,000 to McCain's Senate re-election committee in February 2003—just a month before the senator urged other cable companies, in writing, to follow Cablevision's lead on a la carte pricing. Shortly after the AP story, McCain stepped down as chairman of the Reform Institute's advisory board in March 2005.

POPSRemember When Kerry Was Called A Flip Flopper?
I remember in 2004 when the Republicans loved to smear Kerry as being a "flip flopper." I guess they had a change of heart about the meaning of the term. They have Mitt Romney, who sold himself as a champion of gay rights, and a woman's right to choose when he ran against Ted Kennedy in the Massachusetts senate race. They have John McCain who decried the hateful rhetoric of Pat Roberton and Jerry Falwell, and now falls all over himself trying to please them and their parishioners. And now we have "America's Mayor" Rudy Giuliani trying to sell himself as a conservative. A man married three times, a huge supporter of gay rights, a man dedicated to a woman's right to choose and other liberal favourites. Now that he wants to be president, he claims he is not in favour of gay marriage but supports same-sex unions and benefits. He says he still supports a woman's right to choose, but also says he would appoint strict constructionist judges to the courts. Flip flop anyone?

POPSKerry Rues his Swift Boat Lies CNN calls the Swift Boat claims in this piece "unsubstantiated". How can the claims of Kerry's cowardice and dishonesty be unsubstantiated, if you have scores of his shipmates testifying that he never did the things or was in the battles and firefights Kerry the Coward claimed when he wrote himself up for the decorations. Again, it makes you wonder what kind of idiots vote in this phoney gold digging womanizing horseface.

POPSDigital Mudslinging Amusing, not because a republican was the target, but because of how it was played out.. people really, REALLY have to think these days, any cellphone, digital camera, etc can be a video camera.. politicians have to watch what they say EVERYWHERE. Of course imo, if he really said a racial slur, he deserves to lose.. republican or democrat!.

POPSRalph Reed loses his/her(??) Georgia primary Am I the only one who thinks he looks like a girl with short hair? I clicked to the full story mainly because I seriously thought the excerpt was wrongly using 'he" under "her" picture. Guess it's an extreme case of babyface (but certainly not baby allegations).
