POPSHunger on The Increase in the USA One of the biggest myths about the USA is that it's a land of plenty enjoyed by all. But last year 36 million Americans went hungry without access to food. Many of them were children. Yet during the last 7 years the wealthiest among us knew enormous economic growth. Those who thought that the Lord of the manor was disposed to throw the remains of the meal to the serfs were kidding themselves. When possible they will consume every last morsel. Trickle down economics is a mere talking point when in fact the spigot is mostly turned off.

POPSFed Covers Up Financial Crisis the current tax, spend and bailout policies. His basic message is that the U.S. is broke and that the situation will get worse under an Obama Administration because of its commitment to more federal interference and involvement in the economy. Schiff, who blows the whistle on these schemes, is not very popular in the media, which have been telling us consistently that things would get better after Wall Street was bailed out. Nevertheless, during this discussion, a week before the election, Schiff predicted an Obama victory because “nobody is going to vote for four more years of this” and voters “are going to grasp at straws and vote for anybody who promises change.” But the change is phony, he warned. Obama “will put several nails in the coffin,” he said. “We’re going to get more of the same, only worse.” Fox News Host Jaime Colby asked, “Where are the criminal prosecutions because I think their pictures should be hanging up in the post office?”

POPS 2010 Senate Map May Not Be Much Better for the GOP And given Democratic gains in Ohio in 2006 and 2008, the party will almost surely try to knock off Sen. George Voinovich (R) in 2010. Republicans could have another seat to defend in Arizona if Sen. John McCain (R) chooses to retire in 2010. Popular Gov. Janet Napolitano (D), who is term limited, is said to be interested in running for the seat, especially if McCain retires. Another object of retirement rumors, Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), who will be 80 in two years, has announced he will run for re-election. Democrats could try to take Sen. Kit Bond’s (R) seat in 2010. Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan (D) would clear the Democratic field and give Bond a run for his money. Bond, too, could choose to retire. He will be 71 in 2010. Sen. Mel Martinez (R-Fla.) won his first term by a single point margin, making him a likely target for Democrats in 2010.
