POPSUproar As Top Police Cleared of Attack on Genoa G8 Protesters At least 150 police officers stormed the Armando Diaz school on the night of July 21 2001, after three days of violence in Genoa that left more than 200 people injured and a protester dead. Police chiefs later claimed the school was occupied by the violently disruptive Black Bloc faction. If that is what rank-and-file officers were told, it may explain the viciousness with which they laid into the protesters. Briton Nicola Doherty was hit so hard on an arm with which she was shielding her face that her wrist was broken. The attack put 28 of 93 people arrested in hospital - three of them on the critical list. Mark Covell, a volunteer with the Indymedia news network, was unconscious for 14 hours. He suffered eight broken ribs, a punctured lung and 10 missing or broken teeth.

POPSEmail President Bush To Grant Executive Pardon To Border Agents for drug smuggling. The Washington Times quotes T. J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council, as being critical with the timing of the indictment against Aldrete Davila. "Osvaldo Aldrete Davila should have been prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for these felonies two years ago," said Mr. Bonner, whose group represents more than 12,000 Border Patrol agents. "This deliberate and unconscionable delay directly resulted in the wrongful incarceration of two innocent law-enforcement officers." According to Drug Enforcement Administration documents obtained by The Times, DEA investigators believed they had sufficient evidence to indict Aldrete Davila in late 2005, but their requests to do so were denied by Mr. Sutton's office.

POPSModern Darwinism Humanity has the question of whether to use empathy to reach out others that cannot help themselves, or to damn them as inferior and victims of the survival of the fittest.

POPSNo Harm No Foul Just what kind of right-wing Christian theocracy are they running up there in Michigan? I mean - no one was hurt. The vacuum consented. How could a consenual act of an adult be a crime?

POPSRoyal Marine thief I wonder how different this case is from the one when a Royal Marine Association elected representative was denied access and freedom to speak to the annual RMA gathering , who was not allowed to take his place because an unelected member was already an unelected trustee sitting in his stead? To steal anything is wrong but to deny democratic rights is more heinous than pilfering property. It goes to the soul of our being. That's one of the reasons why so many former BOOTNECKS are not members of the local RMA. Is that why the trustees would not allow a large group of non-conforming bootnecks to for their own Association.

POPSStevens (R-Alaska) Convicted On All Counts "Despite being a convicted felon, he is not required to drop out of the race or resign from the Senate. If he wins re-election, he can continue to hold his seat because there is no rule barring felons from serving in Congress. The Senate could vote to expel Stevens on a two-thirds vote. "Put this down: That will never happen _ ever, OK?" Stevens said in the weeks leading up to his trial. "I am not stepping down. I'm going to run through and I'm going to win this election." The arrogance.

POPSRepublican Confesses: "How I Rigged an Election."
While Republicans on the news -- and their trolls now here at clipmarks -- a full time once again trying to suppress the vote with false charges of voter fraud and by trying to put minority and poor advocates out of the voter registration business... ...here's a FACT: This guy was arrested for Republican dirty tricks during the election. FACT. This guy went to jail for a real Republican sponsored election tampering. The Republican attacks against this group, ACORN...and their false attempts to link ACORN to Obama (as if Obama needs to do voter fraud...) --- all this has been done before and is the Classic method of Republican voter suppression. They started doing this seriously real bad from the year 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, now; and they intend to continue this for years forward. So when you hear the lies about ACORN today; I hope you will also consider the FACT of Republican voter dirty tricks that is documented here, and proved by this guy going to jail.

POPSNZ youth to be tried as an adult in Hawaii Bartley's lawyer, Jeffrey Hawk, hinted at a possible defense. "Every child is a product of his environment and his family," Hawk said. "And I think, hopefully, we can make that an issue in this case, that no child does these sort of things without good cause or good reason."
