More: What makes me a screaming leftist? That I think the Gov’t isn’t the source of power. That I think the Gov’t has NO rights, but that its authority is on loan from We, the People. I think the Preamble means a lot, and that promoting the general welfare, establishing justice and securing the blessings of liberty are what the gov’t is for. The most important job of the President isn’t “keeping America safe” at home, it’s seeing to it we don’t fragment into a couple of hundred petty countries vying with one another for those things we bound ourselves together to obtain… The stables are filthy and the folks who fouled them aren’t going to easily be persuaded to clean them. They work for us, and at our pleasure. Since I’m more than a trifle displeased, they need to be reminded, and nagged, harried, pressed, until things are better. When they do well…they need some praise…being hounded is demoralising.

'Justice' Dept. Wants to Erase 4th Amendment, FBI to Have Gestapo Power
blueridge
by blueridge  8-22-2008
Attorney General Mukasey (neocon) wants to give broad powers to the FBI as if the 4th amendment is nothing at all instead of supreme law. The Justice Department said Wednesday that in light of requests from members of Congress for more information, Mr. Mukasey would agree not to sign the new guidelines before a Sept. 17 Congressional hearing. Can you believe this absolute corruption and blatant attempt to usurp power for federal policing? There will actually be a hearing in America's Congress to determine whether the 4th amendment will still stand--which forbids searches without probable cause! This right after the annual Sept. 11th propaganda campaign to justify ANY NEW POWERS the government wants, the Constitution notwithstanding. Mukasey has no Constitutional authority to sign or authorize this (the Constitution is above Mukasey, as well as Bush and Congress), but he wants to, after a good propaganda campaign to justify it as "necessary".

Obama Bloggers To Forgive His FISA Vote.

A friend of mine (A Democrat convert, to Ron Paul's defunct bid for "R" nomination) wrote me the following on clipmark "The Thrill Gone For Obama Supporters?" ------ WAY worse than any little symbolic pin would by his vote supporting immunity for the telecoms and supporting all the more spying on the American people - clear violation of the 4th Amendment That should tell you that he is coming from the same love of executive power in support of corporate power over people power and considering rights dispensable for a greater "good." Judy --- My response: Judy, I know he caved on the (H.R. 6304 ) and that's a big deal but I won't cross him off my list... better Obama than McCain and I refuse to waste my vote on someone I know, without a doubt, will not win and perhaps will help McCain win (god forbid!)... Obama is our only chance at the moment and I won't thumb my nose at that. More Here: http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/07/obamas-fisa-shi.html thinkingblue blog

AmeriKKKa has turned the corner. The idea that once was, is a hallow shell of Right Wing Extemism.

Where are the ideals that once constituted the freedom and democracy? Under the marching feet of an army, fighting not for ideals, but mere consumerism and profiteering at all cost. We have reached the lowest common denominator. Torture, secrecy, spying, incarcerations without warrants, changing the rules to protect those that break the laws. The end is nearer than we like to think. No more democracy and " We The People". Only corporate freedom to exploit the world with our armies backing. Obama is out!!!!!! Don't vote!!! Stay away from this scam.

The REAL terrorists have just stripped away our 4th amendment rights. The "terrorists" we "fight" couldn't have done it better themselves. In 20 years I will look back and recount this day as the day America fell, the day citizens saw their hard-fought rights stripped away in an attack on our liberties that pales in comparison to the attacks of 9/11.

Supreme Court Upholds 2nd Amendment, right to bear arms is personal
blueridge
by blueridge  6-26-2008    2
but see even Scalia's "but" statements. They still want to "infringe". The idea of having a permit would be repugnant to Patrick Henry and the colonists of 1776. Notice how close this vote was, 5 to 4 by the Supremes , and even the most conservative do not deny some restrictions may be applied. "Shall not be infringed" is illegible to them apparently. So go buy yourself a Glock and learn how to safely use it. It's best to buy from private owners to keep yourself out of the "infringement" of federal data-bases which tracks gun sales, and could be accessed under PATRIOT ACT provisions upon any government desire to do so. My question is, what about the 4th amendment? This should be the next focus of challenges.

Senators Challenge Illegal Border Searches of US Citizens
blueridge
by blueridge  6-25-2008
unconstitutional, arbitrary search and seizure at borders widespread. Homeland Security gets challenged again by the 4th amendment, and it does not take a lawyer to prove they are illegally searching (like they do in airports too, without challenge). Where are the republicans...are they against freedom? Is this America or the Soviet Union? This is proof that customs is indoctrinated into paranoia and therefore over-aggressive action. If you go to Canada they pull all your personal info up on a screen...the Canadian customs apparently link to IRS files and your drivers license info here in the States!

Many UK studies have concluded same. But as with this article they always try to justify it anyway, despite the enormous cost of installing these police state grids. Let your state and local authorities know that not only do they trample the 4th amendment (treating all citizens like criminal suspects, without probable cause), but they do not deter crime or even catch many criminals. The "security merchandisers" are busy reaping profits from the trampling of your liberties by seducing authorities with the latest toys and technology.

Post-9/11 Memo Shows Disdain for Constitution
blueridge
by blueridge  4-4-2008
Bush's "Justice" Dept had written memo claiming that 4th amendment of the Constitution "did not apply". The administration now disavows this position, it claims, yet we see little evidence of their disavowal in regard to civil liberties when it comes to domestic spying, the PATRIOT ACT, REAL ID, or a host of other examples. It was Bush who blurted out that the Constitution is "just a g--damned piece of paper" , when legal challenges were warned of.

Bush Claims Feds Can Open Mail w/o Warrant
blueridge
by blueridge  3-13-2008    2
In case you missed it, like many of us did, Bush in a "signing statement" (i.e. Executive fiat legislation) claimed that Feds can open mail ("search and seize") of Americans under the plea of "necessity" without warrant. Amazingly his spokesperson said he was claiming "no new authority" in doing so and that the Constitution authorizes it. (Have they read the 4th amendment:?!) Though dated in January, what is not well published needs to be made known.

Tell Congress NO on "Protect America Act"; Domestic Spy Powers
blueridge
by blueridge  2-2-2008
Cowardly Congress extended the anti-constitutional legislation for 2 weeks before it expires so they can work on a "compromise" with White House to permit domestic surveillance on any Americans who make phone calls, emails, IMs, etc. internationally--without a warrant or probable cause. It is a deceitful provision and is UNNECESSARY in order to protect Americans against the mythical "terrorists" (who have not attacked in over 6 years). THE GOVERNMENT HAS PLENTY OF POWER WITHIN CONSTITUTIONAL RESTRAINTS TO PROTECT AMERICA. Email and write your Senators and Reps NOW and tell them NOT TO EXTEND the Protect America Act and to obey the Constitution like they swore to when taking office! See links in article for how to easily do this.

Bush Expands Internet Surveillance
blueridge
by blueridge  1-27-2008    2
This initiative is being framed against foreign internet attacks while the order itself is said to be "classified" in content, and does not restrict on the surface of monitoring Americans internet activity. The last quote is from a U.S. Congressman objecting on grounds equivalent to posse comitatus--i.e. military cannot intervene in domestic affairs involving U.S. citizens. Just more Homeland Tyranny that tramples the 4th amendment. The government is paranoid of its citizens, as most tyrannical governments are.

"Surrender Should Not Be An Option"
sahara
by sahara  12-12-2007
The American people voted for a humble foreign policy in 2000. They voted for an end to the war in 2006. Instead of recognizing the wisdom and desire of the voters, they are chided as cowards, unwilling to defend themselves. Americans are fiercely willing to defend themselves. However, we have no stomach for indiscriminate bombing in foreign lands when our actual attackers either killed themselves on 9/11 or are still at large somewhere in a country that is neither Iraq nor Iran. Defense of our homeland is one thing. Offensive tactics overseas are quite another. Worse yet, when our newly minted enemies find their way over here, where will our troops be to defend us? The American people have NOT gotten the government they deserve. They asked for a stronger America and peace through nonintervention, yet we have a government of deceit, inaction and one that puts us in grave danger on the international front. "Mission Accomplished".

Domestic Spying Legal? Court Rules Against 4th Amendment
blueridge
by blueridge  11-17-2007    1
This is an example how one case sets precedent. The legal case is extraordinary. Yet the Constitution is not to be violated, and the previous FISA laws even permit domestic spying in "emergency", and that a warrant can be obtained post facto. Question: If there is probable cause (as this particular case might be)--THEN WHY NOT GET A WARRANT? The Constitution only forbids "warrantless" spying. No need to trample it. Here is the 4th amendment, which every American should want to safeguard, it prevents tyrannical government powers: The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Realy? How much will it take to get you to CONSIDER it as a possibility

Yes, I know...I'm crazy, a moon bat, a wing nut, a paranoid delusional, hell maybe I'm even psychotic...but if I am, why are they passing the laws? Why has habeas Corpus been done away with? Why can the Government now surveil American Citizens without a court order? Why has the 4th Amendment been (for all practical purposes) been suspended? You remember it? Amendment IV (the Fourth Amendment) to the United States Constitution is one of the provisions included in the Bill of Rights. The Amendment guards against unreasonable searches and seizures, and was originally designed as a response to the controversial writs of assistance (a type of general search warrant), which were a significant factor behind the American Revolution.
