POPSEmployee Free Choice Act We The People, may finally have a voice now that Barack Obama is our President. Hope is overflowing for the downtrodden American worker who saw labor hour increases while compensation decreased due to the many monitory escalations of Energy, Food, Shelter, Healthcare and Clothing. Disparity was the rule. This Employee Free Choice Act must be passed so that the American worker can start climbing out of the quagmire, too many years of Corporate rule put us in. POPSLooking for Carbon in Renewable Energy Renewable Energy Credits are designed to spur the development of renewable energy by selling the rights to its environmental benefits. Carbon credits often aim to do much the same thing. Can the two get along? The Ecosystem Marketplace examines the role of RECs in a carbon economy.

POPSThe Ghoul's Glossary: the 2008 Election Withdrawal: A way to avoid the worst consequences of a moment of pleasurable conquest, which, however, often comes too late to avoid years of support payments. Youth vote: The expectation that 21-year-olds will save the nation from the folly of their elders, in preference to gulping shots from the navels of hot barmaids during a Tuesday happy hour. Zionism: The theory that because Nazis hated Jews, the latter would be much better off all gathered together on disputed land in the midst of 300 million Arabs and Iranians.

POPSThe Dream Car 123 Inventor Greg Zanis of Sugar Grove, Illinois, has recently patented an electric car, he calls Dream Car 123. This futuristic, one-person, safety vehicle uses today's technology, but eliminates many of the traditional car systems, producing a car that is more efficient, faster and safer to drive than today's mechanical car on the street.

POPSCosmic crash unmasks dark matter It looks as if it is being seen through lots of little lenses. And each of these lenses represents a piece of dark matter. Astronomers used the Chandra X-ray telescope to map ordinary matter in the merging clusters, mostly in the form of hot gas, which glows brightly in X-rays. As the two clusters that formed MACSJ0025 merged at speeds of millions of kilometres per hour, hot gas in the two clusters collided and slowed down. However, the dark matter kept on going, passing right through the smash-up. The latest astronomical observations suggest that dark matter makes up some 23% of the Universe. Ordinary matter - such as the galaxies, gas, stars and planets - makes up just 4%. The remaining 73% is made up of another mysterious quantity; dark energy, which is responsible for speeding up the expansion of the cosmos.

POPSCaution likely at EU summit on Russia BRUSSELS, Belgium: When it comes to action over Georgia, Russia has the European Union over a barrel. In fact, 1.2 million barrels. That's the how much Russian crude is pumped westward everyday down the Druzhba pipeline to fuel Europe's economies. This hard economic reality explains why Monday's emergency EU summit will struggle to produce much more than a slap on the wrist for Russia, despite Europe's exasperation over Moscow's invasion of Georgia and backing for its two separatist regions to break away. The EU gets roughly a third of its oil and about 40 percent of its natural gas imports from Russia.

POPSFuture engines full of compressed air They are expected to be so popular, that there will soon be fueling stations for them. Maybe they could just supercharge the tyre pump. The car is expected to need 2 litres of fuel per 100 kilometers. The prototype of the bike, can hold 91/2 litres of compressed air, which will carry a rider for just over a kilometer.

POPSRussia Actually Exists This article proposes ways to counter Russia on her home ground. There are other ways but this is one. The recent Georgian events were inspired by a NeoCon worldview that an audacious event precipitated by a client state just might replicate David with his sling. In this case . . .NOT! There was and remains too much to lo lose. There are pipeline and energy schemes at stake and the loss of prestige and honor by the US in its inability to cover the losses of such a small but vital little merde pile at the far end of the Black Sea. What were they thinking.

POPSCNN Reports Man Arrested for Making Threats Against Obama; Edits Out Fact That Very Same Man Threatend to Put a Bullet in the Head of George W. Bush Alternately... Maybe this CNN editor is so blinded by Obamania that she considers Obama newsworthy, but the sitting president of the United States to be so marginal a figure as to not even be worth mentioning. (Again, I stress: She actually had to do more work than was necessary to omit Bush from the article; so she actually judged that not only was Bush not worth the energy to mention, but was worth the energy to affirmatively delete from the story.) Obama: New Hotness Bush: Old and Busted Whatever the reason this CNN Democratic Communications Director in Training chose to actually invest the time and effort to subtract Bush out of the story, it doesn't reflect well on her, nor CNN's culture.

POPSHow your inner athlete makes you smarter
also from article: Even when we are sitting or lying down, our bodies send our brains regular updates about how our limbs are positioned. When we, say, stand and begin walking, these electric messages need to be sent more often. (Knee is bent, straight, bent, straight ...) Move fast enough and the electrical activity doesn't have time to dissipate between each message. It begins building up in the brain and eventually triggers a release of chemicals called growth factors. Growth factors are like manna for neurons. "They make neurons stronger, healthier and improve their ability to learn," Cotman said. In the presence of growth factors, new neurons are born and old ones sprout, grow and form better connections with each other. Blood vessels blossom along side the neurons, giving them quick access to glucose and other nutrients. All this, in turn, improves our ability to think, learn and remember. As Cotman said, exercise "builds the pipes" for improved cognition.

POPSBarack Backer Dodges On Obama Vote For Bush Energy Bill BONUS COVERAGE: Shuster Laughs in Donatelli's Face; Mitchell Mocks McCain Energy Plan Before Schwartz played dodgeball, Shuster played truer to form, literally laughing in a Republican's face. As the redoubtable Frank Donatelli, Deputy RNC Chairman, explained how McCain would stand up to the oil companies as he's promised to do in an ad, Shuster can be heard off camera letting go with a mocking laugh. View video here. Andrea Mitchell stopped short of laughing at a McCain advisor, but Mitchell found a mirthless manner of expressing cynicism over McCain's energy proposals. Prof. John Taylor of Stanford and the Hoover Institution, a McCain economics advisor, was her guest during MSNBC's 1 PM hour. After Prof. Taylor noted how proposals to drill offshore have already brought crude prices down significantly, Mitchell went on the attack.

POPSHouse Republicans Gas "Talkathon" To Continue Monday "But the American people are suffering,” Boehner and Blunt said in the memo. “The consequences of continued congressional inaction on gas prices are unacceptable. We’ve called on the Speaker to call Congress back into an emergency session this month and schedule a vote on the American Energy Act. We must continue to make a stand until the Speaker complies.” Update - Neither Boehner nor Blunt are expected to be in attendance at Monday's talkfest, and its unclear if they will show up at any point during the week. The session will not be televised, but Republicans felt they got a lot of good press out of Friday's "revolt," so they will be back at it again, and younger GOP lawmakers were clearly energized by the tactic, something not evident among Republicans for most of the 110th Congress. hotair at following link: http://hotair.com/archives/2008/08/03/its-on-house-republicans-oil-protest-to-resume-tomorrow/

POPSBreakthrough in Solar Energy: Scientists mimic plants' energy storage system 'GIANT LEAP' FOR CLEAN ENERGY Sunlight has the greatest potential of any power source to solve the world's energy problems, said Nocera. In one hour, enough sunlight strikes the Earth to provide the entire planet's energy needs for one year. James Barber, a leader in the study of photosynthesis who was not involved in this research, called the discovery by Nocera and Kanan a "giant leap" toward generating clean, carbon-free energy on a massive scale. "This is a major discovery with enormous implications for the future prosperity of humankind," said Barber, the Ernst Chain Professor of Biochemistry at Imperial College London. "The importance of their discovery cannot be overstated since it opens up the door for developing new technologies for energy production thus reducing our dependence for fossil fuels and addressing the global climate change problem."
