POPSFossil Reef found in Aussie outback So now they think Animal life evolved 80 million years earlier than we had calculated. clearly 'Scientific' discoveries are too often base with too little evidence. one of the Basic Principles of "science' is the development of a method and a control where a method can be repeated in an attempt to get similar or 'Identical'- through the imposition of specific qualifications. this can be difficult when most natural situations are unique, or 'one offs' There's generally no harm in 'looking', we just have to be careful the way we describe what we find

POPSYouth, violence, illiteracy The lack of functional literacy is blamed for violence amongst young people, leaving them unable to respond effectively emotionally laden situations. It is suggested that an emphasis on testing and targets leads to teachers providing a minimal imput wrt literacy skills.

POPSWe have everything to fear from McCain Phil Gramm is an ornery old ex-Texas senator who seems to have swooped out of the most scathing H L Mencken sketch. He became McCain's "best friend in politics" – and started speaking to him every day – when they linked arms to stop Hillary Clinton's 1993 push to extend healthcare to poor Americans. He calls for "ruthlessly" slashing government spending – but only focuses on spending on the poor. When he was told paying for healthcare plunged many 80-year-olds into poverty, he said: "Most of us don't have the luxury of living to be 80 years old, so it's hard for me to feel sorry for them."

POPSVaTech, D.O.E, Russians, collaborators study rare microorganism that produces hydrogen So we finally found a clean energy solution ? guess not - no2liberals writes "I’m all for new sources of energy, but one has to look at the downside. The only emission from hydrogen as a fuel is water vapor, which happens to be the single greatest greenhouse gas. Do we really want vehicles and power plants spewing more of the gas that traps 80% of all radiant heat within the first thirty feet of atmosphere?"

POPSPropaganda from the seat of Zionism Disinformation? Good heavens, Israeli Zionists are the PhDs of the world in lying, disinformation and false flags. No one in the world does a better job. So now they pick out a few (of the hundreds of thousands) of incidents in which this murder gang says the actual bullet or bomb that killed was delivered by a Palestinian. Even if true, so what. Truth be told, if the PATTERN of mass-murder and crimes against humanity by Zionists wasn't established - if Israel was doing the right thing in the first instant, Palestinians would not be in the position to RIGHTFULLY resist the blatant crimes committed against them by the Jewish state of Israel.

POPSSUBSTANTIATED TRUE FACTS Breast cancer patients are significantly more likely to have a pet dog instead of a cat. 80% of all breast cancer patients have had "extensive contact" with dogs before their diagnosis. Researchers speculate that dogs (and possibly other pets) harbor viruses that can raise the risk of contracting cancer. - San Diego Union, 11/20/07

POPSdon't start in on "guns don't kill people, people do" - just don't There had been 53 homicides in 2008 when I got to work yesterday. There had been 2 more when I got to work today. 55 people have been murdered this year. No wonder Oakland seems to be suffering from PTSD. If you've never sat in your home and wondered, "hey, was that noise fireworks or gunshots?" I hope you never need to.

POPSA Conservative Crisis Of Followership: David Frum
So, 2008 is not 1988. The problems are different and so must the solutions be. The Reagan themes do not carry the power they once did. The conservative voting majority is not a majority any more. To compete and win this year Republicans have to adapt and change, not revert and revive. The country has changed since 1988. Polls capture a shift to the left on economic issues. The once decisive tax issue has faded altogether, and no wonder: 80 per cent of Americans now pay more in payroll taxes than in federal income taxes. Americans care less about taxes than healthcare and fuel prices, issues where Republicans offer few solutions and speak with something less than passionate urgency. Americans are expressing a new pessimism about upward mobility and their children’s chances of leading a better life – an understandable reaction to the stagnation of median wages since 2000. Even on the signature issue of the war on terror, Americans are turning away from Republican ideas.
