Earlier I clipped the TED video about this movement. Here's another take on this issue. I'm on the fence somewhat with this. On one hand, finding a way to reach fundamentalists and attempt to weaken their message seems like a good idea even if it doesn't address the problems with religion as a whole. Then we have Myer's take on this here which is much more antagonistic. Which will have more of an impact? I honestly don't know.

Obama and McCain Walk Into a Bar ... :)
balthazarus
by balthazarus  11-4-2008    2
The second category was reported to appeal to liberals because of their “openness to ideas” and their tendency to “seek new experiences.” But then why didn’t the liberals in the Boston experiment like the nonsense humor? "Conservatives tend to be happier than liberals in general" now this is interesting. liberal outlook leads to dissatisfaction with the world as it is, and a sense that things need to change . I agree :)

Pundit: Joe the Plumber
AtlLiberal
by AtlLiberal  10-29-2008    5
It was bound to happen. Forget the historians. Ignore the facts. Drink a mug of gullibility and join the McCain/Palin steam locomotive to 1952. Relive the drama of Joe McCarthy as he single handedly takes on the communist menace. Thrill to the real patriots as they rid the country of the Red Devils. The sad part is that there are enough yahoos around to keep this absurdity going.

Palin Is Ready? Please.
zasel
by zasel  10-1-2008
Fareed Zakaria has written a terrific article in this week's Newsweek Magazine that, in my opinion is a must read. I really have nothing to add to Mr. Zakaria's comments, other than to say, that John McCain has proven himself to be a cynical, misogynistic, and narcissistic personality, that has no business being president. I question at this point, whether he even has the chops to be a senator any longer. He has twisted his positions into pretzel shape since be began running for president. He has sold his own beliefs down the river, and embraced policies and people that were anathema to him prior to his candidacy. Naming Mrs. Palin as his running mate however, is the ultimate cynical act, and I pray the country will see this man for what he has become, and resoundingly reject him at the polls on November 4th.

Robert J. Grande for St. Lucie County Sheriff ? NO WAY !
Judge Love
by Judge Love  9-11-2008    3
Since Robert Grande seems to be pointing his Campaign Website toward convincing the public his opinion on "Today we must have leaders that are not afraid to tell the truth" is a valiant endeavor, perhaps Mr. Grande will explain to the public why he RESIGNED from Pahokee's Police Department rather than face TERMINATION for his disclosure that he would not arrest anyone for narcotics possession or sale, because he felt these were modern times when everyone did drugs. It is time for you to fess up Mr. Grande and walk the walk you proclaim by telling the truth, so everyone in St. Lucie County will agree with my opinion that you in all likelihood would do absolutely nothing to protect children from illegal drug dealers and the proliferation of marijuana grow houses. YOU? Combating" Marijuana Grow Houses"? You must have been laughing at all good St. Lucie County residents when you typed such an absurdity within your campaign website.

Major-League "Beat-Down" On Obama's Energy-Less Policies
merrie
by merrie  8-6-2008
During yesterday's Special Report, Charles Krauthammer unleashed a major-league beat-down on Barack Obama's unhinged "energy" policy. Batten down the hatches.. The amount we would save in our tires generously calculated is about 1/200 of what you get from offshore oil alone, and the amount of oil shale is in the West would give us 10,000 years worth of the gasoline saved by inflating our tires. The problem with the Democratic position is they always say 'let's do x' instead of drilling. What the American people understand is you do x, y, and z, and everything. But the reason not to drill is untenable. You drill as well, and that will help us as well... ...BAIER: So inflate your tires. KRAUTHAMMER: It is not even a tenth of a hundredth of the solution. If that much.

You May Be A Racist If You...........
merrie
by merrie  8-6-2008    1
If you're appalled that Obama voted against treating infants born after an abortion attempt the same medically as other infants born alive you... If you were proud of your country even before Obama's candidacy you If you oppose racial preferences in employment, school admissions and contracting you... If you think "we are the change we've been waiting for" is a line from a Monty Python skit you... If your grandmother isn't a "typical white person" you... If you're not sure invading Pakistan is a particularly good idea—what with their nuclear weapons and all— you... The tendency of Obama supporters to see racist impulses behind every criticism of their candidate has evolved into absurdity. Now even the first black president feels compelled to declare he's not a racist. By this measure, nearly every American is at risk of being branded a racist at some point in the campaign. To assess whether you're at risk just consult the list below ( apologies to Jeff Foxworthy

The Real-Life '24'
debbyski
by debbyski  7-13-2008    1
"We are once again distracted and unprepared while the Taliban and bin Laden’s minions multiply in Afghanistan and Pakistan. This, no less than the defiling of the Constitution, is the legacy of an administration that not merely rationalized the immorality of torture but shackled our national security to the absurdity that torture could easily fix the terrorist threat. That’s why the Bush White House’s corruption in the end surpasses Nixon’s. We can no longer take cold comfort in the Watergate maxim that the cover-up was worse than the crime. This time the crime is worse than the cover-up, and the punishment could rain down on us all."

Obama, Religion and the Public Square
merrie
by merrie  6-10-2008
Yet there is more to Mr. Obama and religion than the recent headlines might suggest. Here is how he put it: "Secularists are wrong when they ask believers to leave their religion at the door before entering into the public square. Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, William Jennings Bryan, Dorothy Day, Martin Luther King – indeed, the majority of great reformers in American history – were not only motivated by faith but repeatedly used religious language to argue for their cause. To say that men and women should not inject their 'personal morality' into public policy debates is a practical absurdity. Our law is by definition a codification of morality, much of it grounded in the Judeo-Christian tradition." In his now-famous address to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association in 1960, John Kennedy called for "an America where the separation of church and state is absolute." He went on to state that a president's faith should be "his own private affair."
