POPSRemember Salem? From the article: The religious leaders offer help to the families whose children are named as witches, but at a price. The churches run exorcism, or "deliverance", evenings where the pastors attempt to drive out the evil spirits. Only they have the power to cleanse the child of evil spirits, they say. The exorcism costs the families up to a year's income.

POPSRacial Profiling Ruckus in Palo Alto "Victims of the recent crime wave in Palo Alto have variously described their assailants as being black, Latino, white, or Pacific Islander males, so many residents of Palo Alto and neighboring cities are wondering why the police chief is apparently targeting African Americans. Community leaders including Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and Palo Alto Mayor Larry Klein expressed deep concern about Chief Johnson's ability to continue to act as head of the city's police department. Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, issued a statement condemning the chief's original remarks. Eshoo said that Chief Johnson had "demonstrated a profound lack of judgment and leadership." In an official statement the Congresswoman said that the Police Chief should rescind her comments and orders or resign. Palo Alto Mayor Larry Klein said the chief's remarks were "unacceptable, unconstitutional and un-American."

POPSCome out and defend yourself If this isn't what Obama has in mind I would like to hear him say it to the whole country. President Bush had ot come out regularly to defend the Patriot Act against criticisms that abuse would occur (which didn't by the way.)

POPSObama's Instant Plans to Overthrow Bush Orders
One of Bush's methods of shredding the American Constitution was to abuse the power of what's called: "Executive Orders." Congress would pass some piece of legislation and Bush, in secret, would write a little memo saying he wasn't going to obey that law, or parts of that law. This is not how 'Executive Orders,' were suppose to work. Obama's team has spotted 200 of such abusive Executive Orders that Obama can instantly delete -- since Bush wrote these things all on his own Obama will delete them all on his own. Targeted for instant deletion: 1. Prohibition on stem cell research 2. Limits to foreign aid bases on another nations' contraceptive or abortion policies. 3. Approval of oil drilling in sensitive areas. 4. Approval of torture. 5. Various Bush directives that denied climate change And will close down Guantanamo Bay prison and will end policies of indefinite detention and denial of habitus corpus. & 190 other things. Just the beginning of why he deserved

POPSTreasury Changes Tax Code - Banks get Windfall More: "Section 382 of the tax code was created by Congress in 1986 to end what it considered an abuse of the tax system: companies sheltering their profits from taxation by acquiring shell companies whose only real value was the losses on their books. The firms would then use the acquired company's losses to offset their gains and avoid paying taxes. Lawmakers decried the tax shelters as a scam and created a formula to strictly limit the use of those purchased losses for tax purposes. But from the beginning, some conservative economists and Republican administration officials criticized the new law as unwieldy and unnecessary meddling by the government in the business world."

POPSU.S. and Allies Torture Kids in Iraq Prisons Former President Carter wrote that the Red Cross, Amnesty International and the Pentagon “have gathered substantial testimony of torture of children, confirmed by soldiers who witnessed or participated in the abuse.” UNICEF was “profoundly disturbed” by reports of abuse of children in Iraq prisons. “Any mistreatment, sexual abuse, exploitation or torture of children in detention is a violation of international law,” UNICEF spokesman Damien Peronnaz said. Not surprisingly, “One of the biggest complaints (by Iraqis) is that the vast majority of (U.S.) detainees have not been charged with any crime,”
