POPSCatholics Probe Aid Directed To ACORN In June, the Catholic Church froze a $1.2 million grant for 38 ACORN chapters after the community-organizing group was accused of voter fraud in 15 states. State elections officials and the FBI are questioning ACORN workers who submitted voter registration forms signed by Mickey Mouse and members of the Dallas Cowboys football team in their efforts to register voters in low-income neighborhoods, many of whom tend to favor Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama. Mr. Obama once worked with ACORN as a community organizer and lawyer in Chicago. "While there is value in registering low-income voters, I am concerned that the whole ban on partisanship has been violated," Ralph McCloud, the new executive director for the CCHD, said Monday. So, if the democrats erase the cap, that is an automatic 15% tax increase on all money earned over $102,000. There will also be the tax increase from allowing the Bush tax cuts to expire. And there will be the tax increase on the “rich”, defined somewhere between $120,000 and 250,000. So, how big will these tax increases actually be? More than 15%, less than 30%? Maybe. Maybe more. Nobody knows because Congress writes the laws. And that means Pelosi and Reid. He has four other terrific and amusing reasons. It has led to the present financial crisis. ACORN is being investigated for massive voter registration abuses. Obama was closely associated with Antoine “Tony” Rezko, a convicted Chicago real estate developer who was a major political contributor. One would think that what we already know about Obama would be sufficient to dismiss him as a serious candidate for the presidency of the United States, but I am just as concerned about what we don’t know.

POPSA convicted felon can run for office - but can't vote1?
Another Republican Congressman convicted for corruption. (While they make up smears about and ACORN, etc. -- they are the ones most often gong to jail). But when I hear that this guy could still run for office I was astounded. The USA has a rule that felons can't vote. So felons can't vote but they can run for office!? Obviously this is absurd. But it made me think and come to a clear opinion about this rule that felons can't vote. This rule that felons can't vote is, indeed, another tactic of voter suppression by the Republicans. All their voter suppression tactics focus on the poor and minorities and, 4sure, that's the majority of our prison population. What a despicable election scam. Not to mention that it would seem much better to try to integrate and interest ex-prisoners back into behaving more properly in society -- and voting is a good citizenship thing to do. If we can get enough of those people our buddies at Acorn, etc. signed up illegally then you wont have to work anymore anyway.
