POPSConsequences? For a Liberal? I'm shocked he resigned. Why not follow that greatest of the Democrats - President PantsDown - and just brazen it out? After all, hasn't the Great and Powerful Holy One said that spreading things around is a blessed act? Stealing signs is nothing compared to the theft a President Obama would implement.

POPSStill Undecided? Then Just Don't Vote! It's a basic political-science axiom that citizens are less likely to revolt if they feel they determined who gets to look down Arianna Huffington's blouse at political soirees. So feel free not to vote. Just remember, if so many groups' main objective really were to strengthen democracy, America would have gotten rid of the electoral college by now. Interesting opinion! ... I feel very strongly that everyone should always vote, but should we? Is not voting at all, better than voting for the lesser of two evils?

POPSWhat it actually means to "print more money" Crazy times we're living in. Something tells me that my kids will be reading about this period when they're in high school and college (in 15 years or so) and it won't be pretty. We're going to have a lot of explaining to do.

POPS After Bailout, Economy Will Still Be Lousy
You'll simply be spared some sort of wipe out. Meanwhile, the economy is likely to continue its down drift, with all the hallmarks of a recession. If strained consumers expecting some kind of immediate relief grow cynical when it doesn't arrive, it could even deepen a downturn as consumer confidence quakes once again. So, do the economy a favor, and curtail your expectations. Here's what the bailout will and won't do, in the areas that matter most to consumers: Housing. Homeowners at risk of foreclosure won't enjoy much of a bailout at all. The plan calls for the government to "encourage" banks to help out borrowers who are in arrears by writing off some of the loan amount or negotiating more agreeable terms. But voluntary programs to help stressed homeowners have been marginally effective at best. The ultimate financial fix would be a fast-forward button that rushed us to the end of the housing bust, which underlies the entire meltdown. But that's beyond the government

POPSBush's Financial WMD Speech, Fear to Force Consent Did Bush's speech sound eerily familiar? It should. It's patterned after a more successful one that produced fear and coerced Congress to act. This Clipmark juxtaposes Bush's financial "mushroom cloud" speech --a Warning of Mass Destruction , which he employed last night to manipulate the people to push Congress despite their better judgment-- against his earlier fear-mongering Iraq WMD speech of 2002 urging Americans that "we must act now" and not delay or we could face a "mushroom cloud". The purpose and the pattern of these two speeches are remarkably similar, to use FEAR to cement national consent for bad and unjust policy. And we know the earlier one was entirely bogus. Fortunately, Congress, particularly the fiscal conservative minority among the GOP (who fear losing their base who are calling them socialists) resisted and did not close unjust bailout deal.

POPSMcCain rated as America's worst senator for children McCain has missed 57 percent of Senate votes this session, being absent or voting “present” for 8 out of 10 children-related votes. McCain voted “yes” to increase the minimum wage (after voting no eight times straight); his only other vote was voting “no” on SCHIP reauthorization on Aug. 2, 2007: McCain’s CDF score has steadily declined over the years. In 2004, he received a 38 percent; in 2005, 22 percent; in 2006, 10 percent.

POPSAfghanistan is “becoming a sort of surreal hunting estate" War Gone Bad There is no mystery as to why things have gone increasingly badly for the United States and its allies. As the United States steps up its air war, civilian casualties have climbed steadily over the past two years. Nearly 700 were killed in the first three months of 2008, a major increase over last year. In a recent incident, 47 members of a wedding party were killed in Helmand Province. In a society where clan, tribe, and blood feuds are a part of daily life, that single act sowed a generation of enmity. Anatol Lieven, a professor of war at King’s College London, says that a major impetus behind the growing resistance is anger over the death of family members and neighbors. Lieven says it is as if Afghanistan is “becoming a sort of surreal hunting estate, in which the U.S. and NATO breed the very terrorists they then track down.”

POPSSurviving the Post May-Day Blues
-Realize that May Day is just a temporary, one-day celebration. Your planned pseudo-Russian Revolution will have to wait. -Prepare yourself for the nasty looks and harsh words of working relatives and friends that you only see around your birthday. Let little jabs and sarcastic comments about your Communist proclivities go. Arguing or getting upset and making drunken or careless remarks at family gatherings won't solve anything. -Create a placard budget. Financial woes are a major cause of May Day depression and anxiety, especially since you, like most left-wing agitators, are probably unemployed and depending on the good graces of your family and friends to have a place to sleep and provide you with food. -Wear some clothes with colors other than red or black once in a while. -Drop the holier-than-thou act. Not every person you meet or talk to will immediately agree with your Communist worldview. Your snide pro-collectivist remarks were only "cute" when you were in college sucki

POPSHigher Learning earns a BS degree.
The stifling effect of racism and sexism allegations has led some to extremes. Richard Peltz, an award-winning law professor at the University of Arkansas, felt trapped by accusations of racism. Peltz had alienated some of his black students in the following fashion: 1) he participated in a panel discussion on affirmative action and argued against it, 2) he displayed in class a satirical article from The Onion that mentioned, among other things, Rosa Parks’s death 3) he illustrated the unfairness of affirmative action policies by offering to give all minority students an extra point on a test just for signing a form. It would appear that learning has been reduced to indoctrinating students into a pre-set ideologies. Any deviation from the PRACTICED NORM is met with opposition. I thought learning was best nurtured in an environment that did not stifle alternative viewpoints but actually encouraged such. Apparently only alternative thoughts are welcomed sound reaso

POPSGuns in Class: Professor fired "predictable has been outrage from the right. Last month two leaders of extremist Jewish settlers in Hebron, Baruch Marzel and Itimar Ben Gvir, announced that they had enrolled on Hassan's course. "I would love for him to ask me about my army service," said Marzel. "I can only assure you that he will be the one walking out of the classroom." The army added its voice too, with senior officers, including the Chief of Staff, Ashkenazi, putting pressure on Sapir College to publicly rebuke the film-maker and punish him. A letter from the head of army personnel, General Elazar Stern, accused the college of failing to act with "proper determination" and urged that Hassan face "sharp, public, official condemnation." Stern added that Hassan must be made to apologize or be sacked, otherwise the army would end its funding of places for hundreds of soldiers who attend courses at Sapir." ...AlterNet

POPS Evil Unchecked Grows Evil Tolerated Poisons
The enemy uses children as human bombs, mothers as suicide bombers, men driven by the glory of death and the promise of eternal sexual bliss in heaven...and martyrdom on earth. This is the enemy reality: murder and death of "infidels" by any means for the glory of Allah. The American Congress for Truth (ACT) was formed in June 2002. Our Members Include: Jews, Arabs, Christians, and non-Muslims from all backgrounds both secular and religious, liberals and conservatives. These good people have put their differences aside to combat both anti-American and anti-Israel propaganda masquerading as anti-Imperialism and anti-Zionism: in the Western media among the intellectual elite on American college campuses in churches, synagogues and other places of worship in business groups and civic meetings wherever it exists America defeated communism-- it is time to stare down the evil of religious bigotry and intolerance. Many times in history, citizens have done nothing...and evil
