POPS Drill Baby, Drill --- Chapter One "This is a major victory for Americans who are suffering at the pump, now that Democrats' ridiculous opposition has run out of gas," said Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.). "Now it's time to ensure drilling is expedited and prevent liberals from tying energy production up in endless litigation." UPDATE: On the day Democrats made their decision official, the Institute for Energy Research, an industry-funded research group, released polling that shows the majority made a popular decision; sixty-five percent of the respondents in the group's bipartisan poll favored repealing the drilling ban, as compared with the 30 percent who would like to keep it in place.

POPSSarah Palin's appeal to working-class women may be limited "Recent surveys suggest that Palin, who opposes abortion even in cases of rape or incest, is not necessarily poised to help McCain with moderate women. " A National Journal/Hotline daily tracking poll released Friday found that 49% of male voters say Palin is prepared to be president but that only 41% of female voters think so. When Palin belittled Obama's history as a community organizer on Chicago's South Side -- suggesting he was a do-little activist while she, as the former mayor of tiny Wasilla, Alaska, had "actual responsibilities" -- Sandy Ryan, 59, clicked the remote." "That's enough of that. I switched over to 'House Hunters,' " she said with some disgust over dessert with a group of women from the senior housing complex she manages."

POPSMinnesota Prosecution of Activists Leads Way to Characterize Dissent as Terrorism (cont.)As the ACLU revealed in 2006, the Pentagon has surveilled Americans opposed to the Iraq war, including Quakers and student groups, and has shared this information with other government agencies through the Threat and Local Observation Notice (TALON) database. As well, the FBI “has collected extensive information on the tactics, training and organization of antiwar demonstrators and has advised local law enforcement officials to report any suspicious activity at protests to its counterterrorism squads, according to interviews and a confidential bureau memorandum,” Eric Lichtblau reported in November, 2003.

POPSMcCain Tax Plan favors Wealthy, Offers Little For Middle Class Right wing tax cut zealot/activist Grover Norquist agrees that McCain's tax policies are farther right than even Bush's. "The McCain tax policy is to continue the Bush tax cuts and add three more, so I prefer McCain," he told Salon. "McCain's is bigger, better." When Grover Norquist is excited about a tax policy, it means that people who aren't rich would be screwed. It's practically a law of physics.

POPSSettlement in NY lawsuit over NBC's 'Predator' What interest me in The predator series also makes me wonder if it is a set up. maybe we have been overzealous in trying to prosecute every person who ever chat in such site. I never doubt some of them is guilty but you still cannot prosecute someone for chating. I have a friend in college who once got so drunk and went on Greyhound. He accidentally brushed against a little girl. The parents screamed MOLESTATION and a MOP formed and beat the shit out of him. The police came and threw him in county jail for 5 days . It took another 2 years of legal fighting to clear his name before every charges was dropped.

POPSA Clear Majority Of Americans Want To Drill Here Al Gore, philanthropist, Climate activist, and winner of the Nobel Peace prize, is the single greatest advocate in the war against humanity. Millions of innocent lives, people whose only crime is being poor. We need to protect not only others wellbeing, but our own freedoms, our own rights. We need to defend ourselves from Eco-Terrorist ideas, perpetuated by cheap theatrics and scaremongering. We need to defend ourselves against Eco Evangelist Al Gore. Energy Independence: President Bush asks Congress to lift the 1981 drilling ban on offshore oil. The no-drill Democrats will call it flip-flopping. We call it change you can believe in. The Democratic response to Republican determination to end our dependence on foreign oil has been to call for more taxes on oil companies and to pressure, even sue, OPEC. A group of 10 Democratic senators on Tuesday called for Bush to file a complaint against OPEC. http://www.smartgreenusa.com/

POPS"Greens" Thwart Gasoline Production
So even though ConocoPhillips is aiding and abetting the NRDC to achieve the Green dream of absolute government control over the U.S. energy supply, the enviros are still in take-no-prisoners mode, refusing to allow the expansion of a single refinery. Imagine what the rest of us can expect from the Greens. Green groups are working through the state attorney general’s office to block the $800 million upgrade of the Chevron refinery in the city of Richmond, Ca. California attorney general, climate crusader Jerry Brown claims that the upgrade will produce an additional 900,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions per year. But Chevron says that the upgrade will actually reduce GHG emissions by 220,000 tons. It’s hard to know whose figure is closer to the truth, but it’s worth noting that false statements made by Chevron are prosecutable under the federal and California state law, while Jerry Brown and the activists can say pretty much whatever they want without legal accountability

POPSA Real Dick For some people, Jesus is a real prick. What was the lawsuit over? Donohoo filed a defamation lawsuit over a 2003 press release that he argued defamed his client, the Rev. Grant Storms. Storms gave a speech the same year at the "International Conference on Homo-Fascism" in Milwaukee where, according to a recording, he told gay rights opponents that the failure of petitions and lobbying meant they should "start taking it to the streets." Storms then mimicked gunshot sounds and said "There's twenty! Ca-ching, glory, glory to God, let's go drive through the McDonald's and come back to get the rest." Fair Wisconsin accused Storms of advocating murder - mostly because he was - and Storms got Donohoo to sue for defamation.

POPSRIP Irena Sendler - Lost Nobel Peace Prize to Al Gore "Mrs. Sendler used her contacts at orphanages and convents to keep Jewish children safe until the war's end, often under Christianized names. To alert nuns to a new group of children ready for pick up, she could write, "I have clothing for the convent." The intention was to return all the children to their parents, although the death rate of the adult population made the task largely impossible. But for years Mrs. Sendler guarded the real names of the children and their parents, writing them on tissue paper and burying the lists in jars under an apple tree at an associate's home. "

POPSSupreme Court Judges: Judge, Not Legislate But just as McCain has asked voters to check his opponents' track record, a glance at his is heartening. McCain, unlike a number of fellow GOP senators, voted in favor of Ronald Reagan's failed nomination of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court. And as National Review Online's Jim Geraghty notes, McCain characterized as "a largely unknown quantity" George H.W. Bush's nomination of Justice David Souter — who now usually votes with the high court's liberal contingent. We know that Sens. Clinton and Obama want the federal judiciary to be a liberal quasi-legislature. McCain this week committed himself to buttressing the federal courts' integrity as what they were meant to be: nonpolitical tribunals, dedicated to upholding the Constitution.

POPSThe Wellsian not-so-new idea "When analyzing the ideas and philosophies of liberalism today, if in comparison we look back at Wells’s concept of liberal fascism, we have a very close match. Yes, Wells’s liberal fascism is still alive, but that is not what it is called - It is called “progressive.” "Wells would become more of an activist concentrating his efforts on affecting global change by offering a collection of essays, books, and novels, which often began with the world rushing to catastrophe, until people realize a better way of living. It is not surprising then to know that it was Wells who penned the slogan “The war to end all war” and that he was a member of the Research Committee for the League of Nations believing it was a beginning step to fulfillment of this vision."

POPSHawaiian Activists End Protest At Iolani Palace "While we respect the freedom of Hawaiian groups to hold an opinion on the overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom, we believe that blocking access to Iolani Palace is certainly detrimental to our mission to share the palace and its history with our residents, keiki and visitors." "As a matter of historical record, we wish to point out that the original seat of government of the Hawaiian Kingdom was NOT Iolani Palace. The Palace was the royal RESIDENCE. Government activities were carried out in the original Courthouse, then later in Aliiolani Hale." The palace and the grounds briefly were occupied in June 2006 by a group calling itself Hui Pu. About two dozen native Hawaiian activists chanted, sang and hung banners and upside-down state flags from the second floor of Iolani Palace. The leader of the group, Ikaika Hussey, said that Hui Pu represented a coalition of native Hawaiians opposed to the federal recognition bill pending in Congress.
