POPSBait and Switch Something is wrong if news like this doesn't anger you. The President has "reduced" tours in Iraq. Never mind that he will not be the President when the time comes to determine whether the situation on the ground allows for redeployment. All the while, the situation in Afghanistan is rapidly deteriorating. Deployment timelines are being pushed to the right repeatedly, much as we saw during the crescendo of violence in Iraq. The sole solution presented is one that the Administration and its endorsed candidate have fought against tooth and nail: redeployment of a significant number of troops from the waste of time, money and American lives that is the occupation of Iraq.

POPSMullen Presents Medals For Valor To 12 Paratroopers In Afghanistan
“We spotted an enemy scout and eventually made contact, but he was able to our location to other fighters in the valley,” Ambrosia said. Ambrosia’s element had a translator monitoring the enemy communication with a basic one-way radio. The interpreter continued to monitor the radio, and Ambrosia learned that the scout was coordinating with other enemy fighters in the area to launch an attack. Soon there were at least three enemy elements with three to five fighters each closing in on the platoon. So close, in fact, they were in hand-grenade range of his troops, he said. “At one point, I started calling the vehicles in the valley to start shooting on our position, because the enemy was too close to call in artillery or mortar fire.” Enemy radio traffic intercepted by Ambrosia’s interpreter let the paratroopers know the insurgents planned to overrun their position and take them hostage, but they were able to repel the attack, he said.............

POPSMullen: Stop-Loss Won't End Anytime Soon From blog: "I would like to see an end to the stop-loss policy, but I don't see it happening in the near future," Mullen said during a question-and-answer session with the troops. "I see a slight growth in the next couple of years based on predictions right now." Mullen said about 11,000 Army soldiers are now serving under the stop-loss policy, which critics have referred to as a "backdoor draft." Retaining troops beyond the date they're due to leave the military has been necessary to keep units stocked with trained soldiers ready to deploy to Iraq and Afghanistan, he said.

POPSTop-Ranking Officer Reminds Military To Stay Out Of Politics "I am not suggesting that military professionals abandon all personal opinions about modern social or political issues," Mullen wrote. "What I am suggesting - indeed, what the nation expects - is that military personnel will, in the execution of the mission assigned to them, put aside their partisan leanings. Political opinions have no place in cockpit or camp or conference room."

POPSIt is time to "consider reinstituting the draft." Ahh the road to eternal war. Either you sign up voluntarily or the money-powers-that-be drag you kicking and screaming into it. Let's start the draft at the top income brackets and work our way down for a change. You want a draft so bad, then get your ass into the military and serve like the people you want to send to their deaths.

POPSJoint Chiefs Chairman:Close Guantanamo They know it's wrong. They have two choices. Close Guantanamo, or wait until the Democrats close it. There are supposed to be legal questions. It's a bit late. Too many questions have already been answered.
