POPSPepsi and Gay Rights Looks like I'm buying Pepsi! I got this in an email from a friend (we have different views) now I am for Gay Rights...all of them! It doesn't bother me that I got this email I mean this is a free country they can take action on whatever they want, I just wish that this much energy would be put into something better such as..oh I don't know making laws harsher for child molesters? That's just me.....

POPSAnti-Gay, Anti-Family Even before the law passed, the state estimated that it had only about a quarter of the foster parents it needed. Beginning on Jan. 1, a grandmother in Arkansas cohabitating with her opposite-sex partner because marrying might reduce their pension benefits is barred from taking in her own grandchild; a gay man living with his male partner cannot adopt his deceased sister’s children. Social conservatives are threatening to roll out Arkansas-style adoption bans in other states. And the timing couldn’t be worse: in tough economic times, the numbers of abused and neglected children in need of foster care rises. But good times or bad, no movement that would turn away qualified parents and condemn children to a broken foster care system should be considered “pro-family.”

POPSPro-life and Pro-Obama Douglas Kmiec, Reagan legal counsel, Catholic University and Notre Dame dean and professor, introduces an excellent website that tells why a vote for Obama is a more effective pro-life vote than a vote for McCain. Download the .pdf for a good summary.

POPS Saving America From Obama of the US Communist Party, unrepentant former Weather Underground terrorists, and a minister who preaches anti-Americanism. The head of the Black Muslim movement, Louis Farrakhan, recently declared him to be the “messiah.” We have learned too of his association with the Association of Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) initially as a “community organizer”, but ACORN is now revealed to have profited greatly from the Democrat programs that required banks and mortgage firms to make loans to the poor. It has led to the present financial crisis. ACORN is being investigated for massive voter registration abuses. Obama was closely associated with Antoine “Tony” Rezko, a convicted Chicago real estate developer who was a major political contributor. One would think that what we already know about Obama would be sufficient to dismiss him as a serious candidate for the presidency of the United States, but I am just as concerned about what we don’t know.

POPSObama on Abortion Instead of screaming at each other and calling each other murders, why can't we discuss where we can actually agree? What I like about Obama is that he doesn't just leave it with no common ground. There is common ground if you look for it and understand your opponent. If you refuse to understand you will only gain victory through destruction. That is where we are now. Each side generally is out to destroy the other on this issue. Obama understands that it isn't necessary and that even on the most divisive issue of our time, we can find something. Others refuse to even look.

POPSIndia's Abducted Children Crisis But excuses do not ease the burdens of families who’ve lost children. Internationally, human trafficking, whether for sex, slavery or adoption, should receive more attention than it does. It’s one of the world’s dirty little secrets. http://www.officer.com/interactive/2008/09/23/mothers-in-india/#more-319

POPSDid Obama"Out-Warn"on the Mortgage Crisis? No! March'07,his warnings only came when the end-user was at risk.He was at the roots of promoting, demanding, and inspiring the drive to swell home"ownership" numbers and promote unnatural preferences for non-creditworthy borrowers - by ANY methods or means. Head of the line taking Fannie $, and being fully aware that the policies being implemented could NOT POSSIBLY be resulting in the "desired" numbers if they were ethical and business-wise, Obama was SILENT. He only spoke up when it was unavoidable that HIS policies would be coming to a REAL BAD END. And since he had no other choice but to speak up, being a candidate.

POPSSocial media: Social Approximity? Now that bit about the telegraph may be a bit out of dot dot dash date, so simply substitute in "social media" for telegraph and you're back in the present tense. Social media are a recontextualization of old print forms and contents within a new distribution and communication framework (social web). It's not surprising that so many of our social practices (tools and uses) echo, if not amplify, their old media (broadcast) forebears: celebrity, self-promotion, news, anchoring, commentary, top tens, ratings, rankings, and polls (diggs, votes).
