POPSReported Obama-Hamas Contacts Bode Ill Another clash between Obama’s public statements and his team's behind-the-scenes activities. According to Yousuf, Hamas' contact with Obama's advisors was ongoing, adding that he personally had friendly relations with a few of Obama's advisers whom he had met when he lived in the US. "Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh will draft a congratulatory letter to Obama for his victory in the elections," added Yousef. "The policy Obama will instate in the Middle East will differ from that of his predecessor George W. Bush, although it is clear that the region and the Palestinian issue will not be at the top of his agenda," Yousef told Al-Hayat, "(Obama) will focus more on the economic crisis, Iraq and Afghanistan." © 2008 Al Bawaba (www.albawaba.com)

POPSWe Must Never Forget Too many egregious Republican party acts to fit in this clip, so be sure to go to the source to read the rest and add to the growing list in the comments. Here are a few more: "We must never forget that the Republican party gave us a president whose chief confidant and advisor was a political hit man and professional liar named Karl Rove." "We must never forget that the Republican party gave us a president who created a gulag in Guantanamo and sanctioned the torture of prisoners." "We must never forget that the Republican party gave us a president whose inner circle participated in the outing of a CIA agent as political retribution." "We must never forget that the Republican party gave us a president who commuted the sentence of convicted perjurer (and unconvicted traitor) Scooter Libby." "We must never forget that the Republican party gave us a president who tried to privatize Social Security."

POPSMcCain advisor can't name 1 instance of voting fraud More: Michaelson, who served for 27 years as executive director of the Illinois Board of Elections, said the sharp exchanges over registration fraud have undermined voters’ confidence in the electoral system. “The fact that so many of these illegal registrations are being made public raises a perception in the minds of people,’’ he said. “That’s more of a general concern. You don’t want to perpetuate the idea that our election process is lacking integrity.” Asked whether his own party was responsible for fostering that perception, Michaelson said, “Well, it doesn’t help. It has captured the attention of a lot of people.” Why do it, then? “Maybe it’s because there’s nothing else to talk about,” he said.

POPSIs Ali Abunimah Of Electronic Intifada The Source Of Obama/Khalidi Tape???
who told me he read my article and wanted to report on it for the L.A. Times. I agreed, provided that he credit me and/or mention my name and site in the article, to which he agreed. We spoke on the phone at some length. In April, Wallsten wrote the story. Portions of it were lifted from my article. But I was never credited, contrary to Wallsten's promise. Even the Politico said Wallsten plagiarized me. I'm almost positive that the video Wallsten referenced in the story was obtained from Arab American Action Network founder Abunimah because my article--the one Wallsten ripped off from me--featured photos of Barack Obama and wife Michelle seated with PLO advisor Edward Said at another AAAN annual banquet and led Wallsten to contact Abunimah. I noted in my article--from which Wallsten got most of his info--that the pics were from Ali Abunimah's Electronic Intifada site, in which he wrote about Obama's 180 on Israel from those days of AAAN dinners and PLO confabs.

POPSIn Debt We Trust [Full Movie] CONT'D: "IN DEBT WE TRUST shows how the mall replaced the factory as America's dominant economic engine and how big banks and credit card companies buy our Congress and drive us into what a former major bank economist calls modern serfdom. Americans and our government owe trillions in consumer debt and the national debt, a large amount of it to big banks and billions to Communist China." It's modern-day serfdom: Instead of being tied to the land owned by someone else, you're free to go wherever you want. Your debt (that you may never get out from under) follows you. How did we go from being a nation that made things to one that buys things with money we don't have? And who benefits from things being this way? The old class war was between the owners and the workers. Today's economic war is between debtors & creditors. See also Money As Debt

POPSRecession full of maybe's. Trevor Phillips, the saviour of the English Nation and tribes, says... I for one am sick to death of this immigrant informing me of matters I have been trying to raise for decades. If you think I should be grateful, then you've got the wrong boy. Having watched the degeneration of this once great country I would like to reclaim free speech, open debate and political representation to mean what it says on the label. Maybe as many as 1m immigrants will be going home, but those long term immigrants with their knife and gun carrying offspring remain. Illiteracy is endemic. How many people know the name of their councillor? MP? Illegal immigration advisor? Most know that one...

POPSIsraeli leadership worried about Obama Victory You don't see many headlines about this, in fact this one comes from China. But it was stated last month by Bill Kristol, in his Weekly Standard, that all the leaders of the major Israeli political parties would rather have McCain as President. This would seem obvious, after all, because McCain is more than ready and willing to bomb Iran, among other more slanted pro-Israel issues. Billy Kristol is also a McCain supporter and advisor and probably the most visible and prominent pro-Israeli neocon (the so-called 'neoconservatives.' - besides his newspaer, his leadership in the American Institute pro-Israel lobby group, he is also a commentator on Fox News, the most outrageous right-wing mainstream mouthpiece. The clip here is attributed to "a senior government source." Of course, not all Jews feel this way, but AIPAC and others have certainly been pouring their money and campaign efforts into McCain.

POPSWill the "Real" America Please Stand Up. "When we act, we create our own reality," a "senior Bush advisor" (assumed to be Karl Rove) told journalist Ron Suskind in 2002, and this became the administration's version of a game plan. Thus Donald Rumsfeld's conviction -- shared by McCain -- that we would be "greeted as liberators" in Iraq. For GOP leaders, the Iraq that erupted into a violent insurgency just wasn't the "real" Iraq. Our culture was built by immigrants and shaped by wars, social upheavals, economic crises and further rounds of immigration, each time from places that seemed deeply "foreign" to those who had already settled in. Each round of change was painful to those used to the temporary status quo -- but each round of change also gave us a richer, stronger nation. That's the real America: a land of change and perpetual renewal. Let's stand up for it.
