POPSTell candidates to sign Cluster Bomb Treaty!
Letters to the candidates at link. Here's the sad truth: The United States is the largest producer, stockpiler, and user of cluster bombs in the history of the world. When 111 nations gathered recently to draft a treaty to ban these horrific weapons, the US was conspicuously absent. We need to right this wrong. But the leading presidential candidates, Barack Obama and John McCain, have been silent on whether they will endorse the global cluster bomb ban. We need a President who will do the right thing. POPSAerial Pesticide Spraying Over Cities Stopped This effected me directly. I was sprayed last year. Due to many peoples hard work, at least only the crops will be sprayed, an not right over every hose in the county as they had been doing. Everything has a catch, no exception here.

POPSState Plans to Spray LBAM Pesticide from Northern Bay Area to Santa Cruz and Monterey
I think using a " State of emergency" to force people to be sprayed with chemicals is simply a test to see how much opposition they get. This has been tried in Australia and was a complete failure. There are very few light brown apple moths here. Maybe its the conspiracy side of me that thinks spraying the most liberal cities in the US is test to see how much they can get away with. The City Council here is suing to try and halt the spraying, yet they are offering no shelter for the homeless on nights when they spray. Instead they are using it is a political tool to gain support. If they truly cared for the health of the people, they would protect the most vulnerable first, but they wont. Spraying under a "state of emergency" is ridicules, as an emergency is Katrina, not the loss of crops that can be protected using slightly more expensive methods. This is about money, fear, and what the government can do under a "state of emergency" -- which is anything they want.

POPSPesticides to Rain Down Over Santa Cruz County Although I do not fear this chemical, I do believe we are bing tested. If they can get away with aerial spraying in the most liberal town in the US, they can do it anywhere. I do not want politicians and corporations making the decision of what can and cannot spray on me and my family.
