U.S. Terrorism Watch Tops 1 Million
blueridge
by blueridge  7-15-2008    1
This over-the-top dragnet has included people like Sen. Kennedy, Kat Stevens, and recently a former federal prosecutor! 50,000 individuals are included on the Transportation Security Administration "no-fly" or "selectee" lists that subject them to travel bans, arrest or additional screening. The Justice Department's former top criminal prosecutor says the government's terror watch list likely has caused thousands of innocent Americans to be questioned, searched or otherwise hassled. Former Assistant Attorney General Jim Robinson would know: he's one of them. More than 30,000 airline passengers had asked the Homeland Security Department to clear their names from the list as of October 2006.

Now, Kayak has added a chart to compare airline fees, which are changing every time we take a breath, it seems. Why does life have to be so complicated? I USED to enjoy traveling, but much of it is losing its' appeal.

Former United Nation's chief Kofi Annan. "We must have climate justice." Abdul Gayoom is president of The Maldives, a band of 1,200 islands in the Indian Ocean. He said his nation faces elimination if sea levels rise, as a result of global warming... and suggested proceeds from aviation-related carbon offsets go towards benefitting small nations.

Holy Cows: The great carbon offset con
pitim
by pitim  6-26-2008
The Carbon Offset high priests have made it really easy for us to salve our consciences. We don’t have to go to confession, say Hail Marys, or do any other that old-fashioned embarrassing stuff. All we have to do is pay an offset fee when we buy our airline tickets and they’ll toddle off and plant some trees on our behalf. These trees are supposed to offset the carbon you just dumped into the atmosphere by absorbing it. It’s that simple. Or is it?
